ComputersWhat To Do When Laptop Is Slow, Frozen Or Refuses To Shut Down by charsobodo(op):
1. Restart your laptop or computer by forcing a shut down.
You can force a shut down by holding the power button until the laptop turns off, if this does not work, then force a complete shut down by following the steps below.
· Disconnect the power cord
· Remove the battery from the laptop
· Wait for some time (20 seconds)
· Replace the battery into the laptop
· Reconnect the laptop power cord
· Turn the laptop on

2. Check for duplicate program running on your system
Check through your laptop to know if you have two versions of the same program running on your system, you can do this by using the Windows control panel, you will find all the programs that have been installed or downloaded on your system listed there. If you spot duplicates, uninstall one version of the program.

3. Remove Recently Installed Program
If the problem started immediately after you have installed or downloaded a program or software, please remove or uninstall that program or software.

4. Do not install more than one antivirus program on your laptop
Its very important to protect your computer with appropriate antivirus software but running two different antivirus programs on your system at the same time can cause conflicts.

5. Run an antivirus security check
Run an antivirus security check and update, because the presence of harmful malware or viruses can make your computer sluggish. A virus scan will clear out out all forms of malicious and harmful virus attack on your system, hence improving the laptop’s efficiency.

6. Perform a system restore
This process is very effective for fixing a lot of computer faults, it will revert your system to the last state in which it was working well. To perform this procedure, go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. If you are using Windows 7 Operating System, just enter system restore in the search box, if you have an available restore point the date will be highlighted, just click that that date and simply follow the step by step wizard to complete the process. You will get a confirmation after successful restoration.

ComputersHow To Repair A Laptop That Turns Off Or Shuts Down Randomly by charsobodo(op):
Laptop turns on and off randomly, when your laptop develops this type of fault, it is usually a tiring and very frustrating experience especially if the occurrence is frequent and within short intervals, it disrupts your work and generally makes life very uncomfortable for you, when using the laptop.

There are quite a number of faults that can cause a laptop to randomly shut down or turn off, it could be an overheating processor, faulty memory module or a failed motherboard. Pin pointing the exact cause of the problem will require proper and careful troubleshooting until we arrive at the cause of fault. Let’s now take a closer look at some of these faults and at the same time also try and provide solution to the problem.

Possible Faults

1.Overheating processor due to the build up of dust internally, leading to the clogging of the fan.
2.Faulty memory module
3.Virus attack on the system
4.A failed motherboard

Solutions

1.To handle the overheating problem, the first step is to look for a good brush and clean the processor, the fan, heat sink and possibly the entire motherboard. The cleaning will remove dust particles that have been gathered by the laptop over a long period of time.

2.The accumulation of this dust particles leads to clogging of the fan, which in turn causes overheating of the processor ultimately leading to the laptop shutting down randomly whenever it gets excessively hot. A simple routine cleaning like the one mentioned above will solve the problem, also it doesn’t stop there it is advisable for you to repeat the procedure periodically to keep the laptop clean and functioning well.

3.This problem could be related to the memory failure. It’s possible one of the memory modules failed and because of that the laptop turns on and off randomly. In this case you can try reseating memory modules to make sure they are making good contact with the slot. You can try removing memory modules one by one and test the laptop with only one memory module installed. You can try replacing memory modules with new modules.

4.Ensure that the antivirus software on your laptop is up to date, run it to remove any virus that might infected the laptop. This is essential because the presence of virus can terribly slow down and eventually cause the laptop to shut down randomly.

5.If non of these steps is able to rectify the problem, then you have a motherboard failure.

ComputersRepairing A Laptop Power That Does Not Turn On by charsobodo(op):
Laptop power does not turn on, when the power of a laptop does not turn on, it can be a big source of worry and discomfort, but don’t draw a conclusion just yet or write off the laptop because it could well come back to life. A number of reasons can be attributed to a laptop not powering on, we will take a critical look at some of these reasons and at the same time try to provide solution to these problems.

Solution to the problem will vary from simple to complex procedure that might require a bit of technical no how to handle, but the main purpose will be to help you solve your problem at a minimal cost.

Possible Faults

1.Laptop AC power adapter is faulty or burnt

2.Battery does not hold charge

3.Cut or broken power cord

4.Broken or loose DC jack connector

5 Failed motherboard

Solutions

1.Try this first, remove the power cord and battery of the laptop, hold the power button for about 60 seconds, then connect back the power cord and turn on the laptop. If the power comes on, turn off the laptop again and put back the battery, then turn on again.

2.Check the LED indicator of the laptop’s AC power adapter, if it is on, then it means that the adapter is been supplied with normal voltage from the power socket, but if it is off then it means that the adapter is faulty or burnt and needs to be replaced.

3.Confirm that the laptop battery is holding charge by checking if the charging indicator or LED is on, if the charging indicator or LED is on and stable, then it means that the battery is charging but if the charging indicator or LED is blinking continuously, then it means that the laptop battery is bad and does not hold charge or is not charging, hence it needs to be replaced.

4.Physically inspect the adapter’s power cord to check if it is broken or cut at any point. If it is broken at any point or there are noticeable cuts, unplug it from the AC power and repair with electrical tape or better still replace it.

5.Check the DC jack, if it is separated from the motherboard (or DC jack broken) and the laptop doesn’t get any power from the AC adapter. In this case the DC jack has to be replaced.

6.If non of these steps is able to rectify the problem then you have a dead or failed motherboard. Replace the motherboard or buy a new laptop.
