The law prohibits change of status inside South Africa for visitors' visa holders.
The only permit he can change to is Volunteer visitors permit. It is issued for up to 3 years. It is difficult to get these days. If the application is refused, the person is usually given few days to leave the country. Come with a study permit instead.
It is about time that South Africa that closes this loophole!
emma321: The leadership of Nigerian Communities in South Africa has urged Nigerians living in the country to stop spreading false information capable of hurting relations between Nigeria and South Africa.
The President, Nigeria Union, South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on the telephone from Pretoria, South Africa on Saturday that some information used in the social media were false.
“The union investigated some information posted by some Nigerians in the social media and found them to be false.
“We caution Nigerians not to spread any kind of information which may turn out to be false. We urge them to wait for confirmation before using such news.
“It may affect relations between Nigeria and South Africa,” he said.
Mr Olubajo said that the South African police was cooperating with the union on the recent killing of Nigerians in that country.
“If our people send false information, it can jeopardise the on-going investigation by the police and collaboration between the union and authorities to ensure that justice is done in the case,” he said.
The President also advised Nigerians to avoid hate speech because the union was on top of the situation.
“The union investigates any information before sending out to Nigerians. We expect our people to be very cautious in this regard by ensuring that false information is not spread.
“We have branches in the nine provinces of South Africa and on the ground,” Adetola said.
This is what South Africans have been saying for a long time that there is a concerted effort to exaggerate the incidents of violence against nigerians.
collinometricx: We must all build national unity, build all revolutionary forces, into one powerful wave to sweep away our main enemy, political imperialism and economic imperialism.SukarnoWhatever guts and arrogance popular satellite television DSTV had many years ago died completely two weeks ago in Nigeria. To DSTV, nothing like Pay TV or Pay as you watch. To DSTV, whatever they offered us as Nigerians was simply the best and we dare not complain. To DSTV, we were their cash cows. To DSTV, we are puppets that can be controlled at will and who are we to dare just complain. We are nobody. All these changed when a new baby entered the stage. All the arrogance was punctured when a new whiz kid came on block and since them the centre in DSTV could no longer hold. The songs of inability to have PayTV changed as soon as the new baby TSTV came with a bang and took the terrestrial wave by storm with readiness to not just offer Pay as you watch but also gift users with 20gb monthly to browse with. While in the office today, I was discussing with my colleagues on which of the telecoms Wi-Fi we should buy to enable all staff use, and I was told bluntly to forget about buying any Wi-Fi but to wait for TSTV with their 20gb for us to use. Nigerians can’t wait any longer. The wait for TSTV to berth finally on the satellite soil is like waiting for godot.Alas this hope may soon be dashed, as TSTV may NEVER launch in life. This waiting may just be in vain, as billions of Naira has been deployed by DSTV to our nation’s regulatory agencies, third party channels and even our National Assembly to stop TSTV from giving us the Pay as you watch that we have long waited for. This is the bad news and I dare DSTV to proveme wrong. Fellow Nigerians, DSTV as I write has officially written to over twenty third party channels bribing them with billions of dollars to withdraw the rights they initially. That’s not all; some of our National Assembly members have been bribed to also tag TSTV a terrorist organisation simply because the corporate body refused to disclose how they got the rights that threaten DSTV hold on poorNigerians. It is a well known fact that every business has its cherished secret and it will be suicidal to tell TSTV to disclose how they got access to the rights in their possession. It amounts to telling the Lawmakers to reveal how they won their opponents during the last election. We are not beyond redemption as a people to allow a South African company in DSTV to come to our own land to milk us dry and allowthem kill the only hope of escape from their grip. Our patriotism demands that we rise against DSTV this very moment to stop every plan they have against TSTV launch on November 1st2017; including rolling out all the channels they have gotten rights for, without interference from DSTV.It is terrorism to allow DSTV determines the satellite stations that will survive in our country of over N180 million people, when over ten of such stations can operate and stillmake maximum profits, without bickering. It is a national crime and offence to keep patronizing DSTV with its high rate of subscription when a national carrier in TSTV is offering much more at cheaper rate.We owe it a duty to break the monopoly of this South African company just as we stood by Globacom when it came into the market tochallenge MTN, which led to the freedom of per second calls we are enjoying today. If we can stand in solidarity then with, we should stand stronger now with TSTV. The continuous hold of DSTV on our homes through their monopoly is imperialism that should be stopped and hated by all. We should hold to our chest the words of Sukarno“ I hate imperialism. I detest colonialism. And I fear the consequences of their last bitter struggle for life. We are determined that our nation, and the world as a whole, shall not be the plaything of one small corner of the world”.This is not about Bright Echefu, the Managing Director of TSTV but us a people, one Nigeria that have no choice but to support a Nigeria product to break this monopoly of extortion. We have suffered too much and too long in the hands of DSTV and can no longer suffer again. As I type, DSTV is planning to jam the frequency of TSTV to stop it from reaching our various homes when it starts to beam. In South Africa, they treat us like thrash; in our own backyard; they treat us like dust. In South Africa, we are treated as animals and in our own land; we are still treated like second class. The same billions of dollars they made exploiting us is same money used in bribing our own nationals to frustrate a project conceived by one of us, that they told us was never possible.
This sounds little xenophobic to me, compete and disrupt DSTV offering through your marketing strategy just like it is done in a normal free market economy.
SmartyPants: Think beyond the trivial and superficial.
1. If people were confined to their geographical location of origin, the world would not be what it is today.
2. If South Africa has a state policy that all Nigerians are persona non grata they should come out and say so. If not, then they are duty bound to grant every Nigerian citizen the right to life as provided for and protected by the UN charter and other international conventions to which South Africa is party to.
3. South Africans are present in other countries of the world where they are not being killed in this way. It is morally wrong for them to not extend to others the same courtesy that is extended to them.
Please think thoroughly before you quote me!
Why is South Africa the only country with this huge infestation of uninvited surplus people?
MONITZ: What is this blood sucking idiot doing in Nigeria,a mofo of a leader who doesn't appreciate the role Nigeria played in the annals of his country when they had it rough in the apartheid era..He could ve spoken against/chastised his kinsmen to stop the unbridled killings of Nigerians in his country bt he decided to keep mum for political reasons,he as well as the king of Zulu Kingdom is culpable in the death of African nationals in South Africa..

At least South Africans are not a nuisance in foreign countries unlike Nigerians who are an infestation.
Chauke: when you have a surplus of uninvited nigerian area boys in your country you end up with this kind of shit, just ask India or Malaysia this bunch are an infestation whenever they go because despite their empty chest beating bravado they can't get that fucking zoo working.
kadree: The hatred towards Nigerians is far deeper than your could imagine.
To set the record straight Lucky Dube was killed by three Mozambican criminals' please the check the trial records!
Three South African car - jackers thought LUCKY DUBE was a "Nigerian drug Lord" who was riding a Chrysler they've longed hunted for.
They UNKNOWINGLY(thinking the owner of the car to be hijacked was a NIGERIAN) short the only best thing known to South Africa after Mandela -LUCKY PHILLIPS DUBE.
If Nigeria is such a paradise what the hell are you doing in this horrible country to a point where you wait to be killed?
samzzycash: South Africans Don't be surprised half of those guys ranting up and down are lazy drug addicts who lick whites yansh The average black south African live on less than 2rand everyday yet they put their frustration on Nigerians

RIPEnglish: They should left South Africa, it is not their country so they should at list came back to here.
14: most of them are into drugs dealing, hence the guy foamed, after swallowing the drugs, but this story is old though, nigerian media recycling old stories. i read same story last year december with same guy shown on the picture. now the story resurfaced again, makes you wander what are the intentions.
Simple matter. Identify some south Africans living in Nigeria and give them same treatment.[/quot
South Africans in Nigeria are not a nuisance to the general population in Naija, they are legitimate to be there unlike the iPods and Afonjaslł who are devil's offsprings
We all know it's better than naija but it's not a safe place to go couple with all those their Xenophobia things. Once a place is not safe ,no matter how developed it may be, it will never ever trip me any more. Whenever I hear the name South Africa, I see it as a developed country filled with Barbaric citizens.
Despite its barbarism naijas enjoy infesting it with their presence
uvalued: wow interesting piece my dear but you failed to acknowledge the original authorwhich is plagerism.
secomdly your points sounds valid but on closer scrutiny it fails to rubbish the glory and blessedness of speaking in tongues....*speaks in tongues* permit me to quote one or two of the well answered given by stevenson and i will post the answer as a topic on nairaland enjoy.

Why these Biafrans are in Cape Town who is developing their land?
Triton1996: Even in this end time where we see fake people who parade themselves as men of God, Prophet Samuel Akinbodunse is one who has chosen to say the word of God as it comes, reveal secret things and prophesy what God said he should. He is the Senior Pastor of Freedom for all Nations Outreach.
He has prophesied a lot of happenings that has come to pass but one which still remain a shock and hard to believe to people is the prediction of Cape town flood.
On the 21st of May, during a monthly live service, he predicted through the revelation of the holy spirit, about a disaster in the western cape. He asked the congregation to pray that God should show mercy against rain that can cause disaster.
According to his word ‘ As I was prophesying around, I saw something in the western part of south Africa, It looks like a flood. It will happen in June or first week of July. Let’s pray to God to save us from any disaster that rain can bring’’
Behold, On June 7, report had it that a major storm took place in Cape town which rendered some homeless, uprooted trees, and did a lot of damage.
We reliably gathered that the confirmation made many believed the grace of God upon his life in South Africa.
The Proof of a Prophet is when he speaks and it comes to pass.
Obi1kenobi: Who said anything about skin colour? Race has little to do with colour. An albino isn't Caucasian just because he's pale. It's still a fact that without whitey, moorons like Zuma would never have seen a city like Cape Town built. You know it. I know it. If black people didn't exist in SA, it would be pretty much like New Zealand or Australia. If whitey didn't exist there, it would be like Zimbabwe or Malawi. It's a painful admission. But it's reality.
I'm amused at a South African lecturing me about our self-loathing. Coming from the citizen of a country which frequently attacks black foreigners, but their raging inferiority complex would never see them similarly attack white or Asian immigrants. Then waffling about bleaching as if South Africans don't bleach. Who the fucckk do you think you're kidding? The briefest of Google searches reveals 1 woman in 3 in South Africa is a bleacher according to the University of Cape Town studies. Keep ascribing phony virtues to yourselves.
badchoky: I LEAVE IN GAUTENG. JOHANNESBURG.THESE PEOPLE ARE STUPID AND LAZY.THEY START DRINKING FROM MORNING TILL NIGHT. NIGERIANS PEDDLING DRUGS ARE ON THE STREET THAT IS WHY IT SEEMS THEY ARE THE REAL CULPRIT.THE REAL DRUG DEALERS ARE THE SAPS(SOUTH AFRICA POLICE) AND THE WHITES.
The life styles of black South Africans is their choice they certainly do not need these Igbos in their midst
FreddyKruger: What da hell are nigerians still doing in Slave Africa? I see no reason why any sane human should exist around those xenophobic, disgusting, poverty ridden wild animals. Nigerians come back home...fvck Slave Africa!
This is what we have been telling these mumus to LEAVE before being lynched but South Africa is much livable to them than the zoo back home
