Ok,sorry for saying you are jobless.
So let's argue with points.
First and most importantly,the reality is that a year and even 2 from now,there won't be eradication of Corona virus,unless a vaccine is found.
(2)Another fact is that,try as much as they can,total lockdown cannot work in Nigeria and I personally even debate the assertion by some that without the lockdown the number of cases would have been more.We cannot assert what we cannot prove by a scientific study or case control.But let's leave that for a whole discussion of its own.
(3)The Covid 19,just like Influenza(flu or common cold to some)has come to stay with us till a vaccine is found.
(4)The death rate at about 1 % is even less than that of the flu.Covid 19 from all empirical evidence is fatal in 95% of cases mainly in people with underlying, serious health challenges.
Must we then lockdown till kingdom come,till a cure is found,while the lockdown brings about other serious economic and even health challenges?
Though unproven,I honestly believe many Nigerians,even without isolation,are recovering from the virus.
N.B,no treatment exists for Covid-19,even in the isolation centres.What is done is just supportive management,hoping your body fights it off with time.
Many people end up fighting it off,again just like your common cold where you use vitamin C and feel it's that that cures you of that catarrh,sneezing and body ache,when honestly it does little.
What I personally believe should have been our approach from day 1 was this:lock our air and land borders for 1month;enforce the use of facemasks by ALL and aggressively use all the money garnered to get test kits.
Facemasks,aggressive testing are the keys and not any ill-thought about,poorly managed and half hazard lockdown.Till tomorrow I will continue saying it:to me,the lockdown has been a disaster on all fronts no matter how it is spinned.

Am not jobless, I even have a company that I have workers, so it's just a reality.. The countries you are quoting, how many test have they done and what is their population,
and what is their health sector standard? Pls compare reasonable things.. Thnks

Why do I have this eerie feeling that majority of people that are in support of a lockdown extension are jobless,so they enjoy seeing other employed people at home,so no people can stop looking down on them?
It's like when a House's electricity supply is cut off due to inability to pay bills.When the general electricity power goes off,such people feel sadistically very happy because no one can then differentiate between those owing and those that pay their bills.
This is the case of this Op.
Even advanced countries with far well off citizens are easing down the lockdown despite still recording impressive infection figures,but here this one wants it to continue just because of joblessness.
Shameful.

It is actually painful that this CORONAVIRUS issue is happening at this time.. But it has come, nothing we can do again than to fight it..
From the president speech of yesterday, I can see the presidency is overwhelmed cos of the economy and how hunger is affecting people. But normally Nigeria has not done much to relax this lockdown..lets see below our position in testing in Africa alone

Ghana - 100,622 Tests

Egypt - 90,000 Tests

Morocco - 29,254 Tests

Uganda - 27,432 Tests

Tunisia - 21,081 Tests

Kenya - 17,992 Tests

Ethiopia -14,588 Tests

Mauritius -14,442 Tests

Nigeria (Giant of Africa) 10,918 Tests

So many people wanted to do test, Nigeria has not done it, talkless of doing for people randomly has been done in saner climes..
From all countries that have over 200million population around the world, only Nigeria don't have over 8000 positive cases.. And we all know the reasons..WE DID VERY LOW TEST.. we just did over ten thousand tests, from over 200milion people, and we want to resume business activities.. IT MAY BE RISKY .
Anyway , if the ban is lifted, everyone has the option of going out or staying in,..But if you have food or money, chose to stay home instead of risking your life.. Nigeria don't have enough facilities, if this escalated,

I just listened to the president, and I wonder how good it will be, if we have some journalist from various media houses to ask intelligent question from our president, after the speech, But I have never seen it, and this is the common things in other nations,..This is pandemic and activeness of leaders is needed too...Even many governors are doing in this time so Why can't we have this with our president too?
