*Below are submissions of three professors of radiation physics in UI copied from Science Faculty platform to debunk the narratives in the trending audio on 5G*

*Dr Popoola*

The man who made this audio message can be likened to someone who is interpreting a strange language he has never studied. He does not know what he's saying.
In a simple language, the so called 5G (fifth generation) is a transmission at far higher frequency range than 4G. This feature implies transmission of greater quantum of energy (signal) per time, hence heavy data (such as images) will download faster and will be transmitted at higher resolution. Meanwhile this may require more booster antennas at closer ranges in order to travel very far because high frequency signals get attenuated faster than low frequency signals. In short 5G will be able to accommodate larger data than 4G.
Generally, people have always displayed some fear each time a new technology arose. The fear attributed to mobile technology is that the signals (waves) are injurious to humans. Meanwhile all mobile signals most fall within microwaves (extreme end of radio waves) which are non ionizing radiations. Ionizing radiations like x-rays and gamma rays have far higher frequencies and exposure to human body may be injurious. However are not used for mobile telecommunication.
The man's use of the word 'radioactive' reveals that he is completely ignorant of what he claims to be explaining. The word Radioactive is from Radioactivity which is a completely different phenomenon from radio wave. Technology is more than speculation. It is a product of basic scientific theories.

*Prof Farai:*

I remain proud of you Tunde. Just look at the confidence with which he was talking nonsense. I was just wondering how I would present a rejoinder in a language that we will all understand and without sounding know it all. You have captured all with the appropriate words. It is now up to anybody to allow him/herself to be misled. God bless you richly, my brother.

*Prof Jibri:*
I really don't understand over stretching of a simple scientific matter. Simple basic physics which our Prof. Farai has laid to rest for us as a guru in Radiation business. Use E = hf from modern Physics and the frequencies or the wavelengths of the regions for the G's what amount of energy do you arrive at. Just like Prof. Farai said, mixing up non-ionizing radiation source to be Radioactive is a simple QED ignoramus!!

*Prof Farai*
I hope we will all understand the nonsense in this video from this simple explanation. Communication networks of whatever G, for now and in the near future, are generally in frequencies of the order of Giga Hertz (GHz or 10⁹ Hz). Thank God the video revealed this much. Meanwhile, the bulk of energy from the sun (solar radiation) is in the UV frequency range (i.e.10¹⁵ Hz). Now I ask, how can mankind, who has been bathing under the shower of UV radiation from the sun over the ages, now be under any threat of a radiation of energy over 1 million times less energy than UV radiation? That is one point.
Most importantly for us on this platform, there is no application of a technology that is not under any regulatory control by international bodies made up experts from all parts of globe. Most of us have one thing or the other to do with such bodies as WHO, ICNIRC, UNSCEAR, etc. If they are unaware of the fears expressed in this video or have been compromised, then we are all guilty. We should stop attending their programmes.

I do support him sha, cos he says the truth
emkz:
The man is brilliant with a huge capacity, but he lacked the temperament and maturity for those positions. Plus, even though he had great ideas, he was too garrulous.

How often do you hear Sultan speak, or Lamido of Adamawa, or Emir of Zazzau? Or don't they know these problems? Emir Sanusi ought to know that he cannot effect change as a traditional ruler but as a politician; and by playing politics, he got himself messed up.

Wisdom is more important than intelligence, and Sanusi lacked the former.
Politics8 Major Ex -emir Sanusi Controversies Since 1995 by cheango(op): 7:01am On Mar 10, 2020

The Emir is no stranger to controversy, as it has trailed throughout majority of his life. It is because of controversies why he is the most popular traditional ruler from the North.

1. The beheading of Gideon Akaluka

Sanusi is one of those fingered in the 1995 beheading of a trader, Gideon Akaluka. It is alleged that Sanusi and several other jihadists beheaded Akaluka and paraded his bodiless head around the streets of Kano after his wife was accused of desecrating the Koran.

He was allegedly saved from paying for his crimes by Alhaji Umar Mutallab, former Chairman of First Bank and father of Underwear Bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who took him under his wings and steered him towards a career in banking.

2. CBN

In 2009, Sanusi was appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN. His tenure was filled with multiple controversies

· Islamic BankingSanusi came under fire for allegedly trying to Islamise Nigeria after he made moves to introduce Islamic banking into Nigeria. Although he insisted that it had nothing to do with Islamic beliefs, CBN described the planned introduction as “a ploy to turn Nigeria into an Islamic country.”

· Bank reforms

Immediately after his appointment as CBN Governor, he carried out banking reforms popularly known as ‘Sanusi tsunami.’ Many claim that these reforms signified a personal war against bank CEOs; others claim it was a war against the South.

· Missing 20billion

As CBN Governor, Sanusi woke up one morning and claimed that 20billion USD of oil money was missing. He granted interviews, pointed fingers at the NNPC, the petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke and the Goodluck Jonathan administration, accusing them of theft. This was the controversy that led to his exit from office. An audit by PWC later stated that no money was missing.

3. Gamji articles

For years, the Emir has written loads of articles posted on Gamji, defending Sharia and the feudal system up North. In an article: http://www.gamji.com/sanusi/sanusi8.htm the Emir defended the introduction of Sharia to Zamfara.

4. Appointment as Emir

Sanusi’s appointment as Emir was unexpected. Many say his appointment was politically motivated so he could be immune for prosecution for his ‘bad behaviour’ at the CBN.

5. Hajj Stampede

After the Hajj Stampede in 2015, the Emir was in the news again for saying that refusal to perform the stoning of the devil would not in any way invalidate one’s pilgrimage. He was harshly criticised by Islamic scholars.

6. Ese Oruru

During the Ese Oruru abduction saga in 2016, the Emir’s name popped up. It was alleged that he was aware of her abduction and marriage to abductor Yunusa. Although he publicly denied supporting the abduction and marriage, the Emir was accused of turning a blind eye and not doing enough.

7. Young Bride

The Emir’s latest wife, Sa’adatu Barkindo-Musdafa, the daughter of the Lamido of Adamawa, Muhammadu Barkindo-Musdafa is still a teenager. In 2015, when PREMIUM TIMES first broke the news, there was mass outrage. Emir defended himself by writing an epistle on how he should be allowed to practice his religion in peace.

8. Criticism of the North

The Emir has spent the past few months critiquing northern leaders and their various methods. He has complained about Sharia in Zamfara, early marriage, poverty and poor education in Northern Nigeria. His criticisms are said to be responsible for his current probe, although the official reason is ‘’financial misappropriation.’’ The Emir is keen on criticising things he once endorsed or turned a blind eye to.

Coronavirus claims 97 lives in one day - but number of infections stabilises
10 February 2020

Coronavirus outbreak

REUTERS
Despite the death toll, an increasing number of patients are recovering
The number of people killed by the new coronavirus rose by 97 on Sunday, the highest number of casualties in a day.
The total number of deaths in China is now 908 - but the number of newly-infected people per day has stabilised.
Across China, 40,171 people are infected while 187,518 are under medical observation.
Meanwhile, 60 more people have tested positive on a cruise ship quarantined in Japan - meaning 130 out of 3,700 passengers have caught the virus.
Dozens more catch virus on quarantined cruise ship
Coronavirus 'imminent threat' to public health
The Diamond Princess ship is on a two-week quarantine off Yokohama, after a passenger - who earlier disembarked in Hong Kong - tested positive.
The infected passengers are taken off board and treated in nearby hospitals.

The new cases mean around a third of all coronavirus patients outside of China were on the Diamond Princess.
According to Chinese data, 3,281 patients have been cured and discharged from hospital.
On Monday, millions of people returned to work after the Lunar New Year break, which was extended from 31 January to curb the spread of the virus.
But precautionary measures remain in place, including the staggering of working hours, and the selective reopening of workplaces.
Chinese president Xi Jinping visited a local hospital in Beijing that offers treatment to coronavirus patients. He also took part in a video chat with medical workers in Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak.
Images from state media show Mr Xi wearing a mask and having his temperature checked. The president has largely stayed away from public view during the outbreak.

China's president has kept a low profile since the outbreak began
"We must have confidence that we will eventually win this battle against the epidemic," he told staff at Ditan hospital in Beijing.

Your questions answered
Over the weekend, the number of coronavirus deaths overtook that of the Sars epidemic in 2003 which also originated in China and killed 774 people worldwide.
The WHO on Saturday said the number of new cases in China was "stabilising" - but warned it was too early to say if the virus had peaked.
On Sunday evening, the organisation sent an international mission to help coordinate a response to the outbreak.

Coronavirus: Shanghai's deserted streets and metro, filmed last week
The new virus was first reported in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province. The city of 11 million has been in lockdown for weeks.
The outbreak was declared a global emergency by the WHO on 30 January.

It has spread to at least 27 other countries and territories, but so far there have only been two deaths outside of mainland China, in the Philippines and Hong Kong.
In the UK, the number of people infected by the coronavirus doubled to eight after four more people tested positive for the virus on Monday.
The Department of Health has described the coronavirus as a "serious and imminent threat" to public health. The government has issued new powers in England to keep people in quarantine to stop the virus spreading. Under these measures, people who have contracted the virus will be forcibly quarantined and not allowed to leave.
The director-general of the WHO on Sunday warned that the virus being transmitted by people who have not been to China could be the "tip of the iceberg".
"There've been some concerning instances of onward 2019nCoV spread from people with no travel history to China," Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus wrote on Twitter
"The detection of a small number of cases may indicate more widespread transmission in other countries; in short, we may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg."
Meanwhile in Hong Kong, police are searching for two people who absconded from quarantine, the South China Morning Post reports. Nearly 1,200 people are in quarantine in the region.

Also in Hong Kong, passengers on a quarantined cruise ship have been allowed to disembark after tests showed no infection among them or its crew.
The World Dream had been held in isolation after eight passengers from a previous cruise had caught the virus.
South Korea has issued a temporary ban on cruise ships entering its ports due to fears of spreading the virus.
