The Federal Government has ordered civil servants from Grade level 14 and above to resume on Monday.

Chairman, Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Zaria Local Government, Sheikh Sani Yakubu, has sacked an Imam, Malam Abubakar Sarki-Aminu for his compliance with Kaduna State Government order prohibiting congregational prayers.

Abubakar had been the “Imam ratib” meaning the Imam for five daily prayers at Sheik Abubakar Mahmood Gumi Juma’at Mosque, Kofar Gayan Low-cost, Zaria for almost 40 years.

Kaduna State Government had on Friday, March 20, issued an order banning all sorts of gatherings including church and mosque prayers involving more than 50 people across the state to curb coronavirus spread.

Scientists in Australia have found an already existing drug that kills COVID-19 in the laboratory within 48 hours.
The drug, Ivermectin, is used to treat head lice and is available all over the world.

Researchers at Monash University found that a single dose of Ivermectin stops the SARS-CoV-2 virus growing in cell culture.

But the research is in its early stages and Ivermectin, an anti-parasitic drug, has not yet been tested on persons infected with COVID-19.

According to British tabloid Daily Mail, the next step is for scientists to determine the correct human dosage, to make sure the level used in vitro is safe for humans.

Lagos State Government on Monday discharged five coronavirus patients at Infectious Disease Centre, Yaba Mainland Hospital.



This brings to eight the total number of discharged patients from the centre.

The patients, who had been quarantined at the isolation centre for weeks, looked stable and unruffled.

Although, the discharged patients preferred annonimity, they expressed joy and satisfaction over the treatment they received.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Saturday, marked properties belonging to former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu.

Former Abia State Governor, Orji Kalu, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for fraud, has suggested that he has a role to play in the national politics of 2023.


Kalu, who is the Senate’s Chief Whip smiled at reporters and said, ‘2023, here we come’ as he was led out of the courtroom by Correctional Services officials after his sentencing.

Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on Thursday, told the Federal High Court, Abuja, that he was ready to face trial if his safety would be guaranteed by the court.

Attempt by the House of Representatives to dialogue with organised Labour with a view to nipping in the bud the proposed strike over the delay in concluding negotiations on the consequential adjustment in the new national minimum wage failed on Tuesday as labour leaders failed to turn up for the meeting.

The House Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity had invited the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) to a dialogue session, but the meeting could not hold.



Chairman of the House Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity, Hon. Ali Wudil Mohammed (APC, Kano told members of the committee members that the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress sent a letter informing the committee of their inability to honour the invitation.

There was however no correspondence from the leadership of the Trade Union Congress as to why they did not honour the meeting.

Plane conveying over 600 pilgrims returning from the 2019 annual pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia crash landed at the Minna International Airport.

The aircraft, a Boeing 744 with registration number 5N/ DBK was said to have developed technical fault in one of the plane’s four engines when it approached the Minna airport.

A Source at the airport who confirmed the incident to newsmen said that no one was injured or died in the incident but the passengers were visibly shaken over the incident.

Evidence of the crash landing of the plane could be seen as part of the tarmac and some materials were damaged when the aircraft skidded off the runway.

Lagos State Police Public Relation Officer(PPRO), Bala Elkana, has asked rapper, Ikechukwu to make a formal report if he was sure of his allegations.

He said: “He needs to step forward with the relevant facts to enable us investigate the allegations.”

Nigerian rapper Ikechukwu Onunaku better known as Ikechukwu had accused operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of beating and robbing him of his money at the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos State.

Engr. Musa Wada has emerged as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) flag bearer for the November 16 governorship election.



Musa Wada, a younger brother of the immediate past Governor Idris Wada, who also contested for the ticket, scored 748 votes to clinch the party ticket.

He was closely followed by Abubakar Mohammed Ibrahim, the son of a former governor, Ibrahim Idris (Ibro), who polled 710 votes.
