stonemasonn:Ah, wereh! Did u hear any of them called "Chukwu Tower"? FYI, Cocoa house in Ibadan was the Tallest building in West Africa! |
CharleyCharley:I've noticed that this kind of statement gets any Igbo person angry....wait o, does Lagos belongs to your grandpa, or if an Igbo man says, " Enugu, our own", does any Yoruba person gets angry? You guys need a total brain check! |
I made so much money but had about 600k in my bank when I left the NYSC. I did some project that later fetched me money. Built Libary, Immunized children, gave Mosquito nets, taught computer and furnished and equip a school. All these were done as projects. A man, who was from the village where I was doing the projects and happen to be the DG of a government parastatal, heard about it and gave me 118k cos he wanted his villager to think that he sponsored it. Also, I distributed envelopes from one markets to another to solicit funds. While doing these projects, I was also teaching at my PPA and also running about two private classes that was fetching me around 20k per month. It was very tedious for me, at a time, I stopped all the lessons in order to focus on my projects. Lastly, a rich man who knew about my effort and picked interest in me gave me around 500k cash at the tail end of my service year. The fulfilment that I had was when a parent intercepted me on the road and was greeting me that I save her children from dying as a result of one of my project and I later won a State Award. In all of these, I learnt that one can achieve whatever you set your mind to do. I pushed myself beyond limit and it was a testing ground for me. Your NYSC will have a meaning if you leave a positive impact . P.S: Please, pardon my typos o, I dey sleep as I dey type now. Success! |
I'm applying for a postgraduate scholarship where I am asked to provide a study plan. Please, does anyone know how I can go about with that? |

Sometimes, I wonder what generation of "researchless" youth Nigeria is breeding. I have travelled round Nigeria...served in the North and presently work in Bayelsa State. Ogun State, to me, employs more non-Yoruba and non-Indigenes than any other state, aside Lagos State. Don't be fooled, some of these tribalist here might be working in one of the coys in Ogun. FYI, nearly all consumer products you use daily are produced in Ogun! |
Firstly, from your write-up, it's obvious that you are ignorant of company politics, organizational diplomacy and effective team playing. Even though you are more creative, don't always wants to prove a point that you have better ideas or more intelligent than those who had been doing the job b4 you joined...you'll only create enemies for yourself. So, what should you do?...... Thread softly. Let ask people for their suggestion. Let the idea be aa team work, even though you know that it emanates from you. For instance, remember Tuface in Plantation Boyz group and Beyonce in TLC. These two were the ones doing most of the singing during the reign of their groups, but, they made it looks like a team work. Now, we've been able to see that without them, the group is s good as gone! Do always wants to take the credit. If you have an idea, approach and suggest it to her and how it'll be good to your organization. Give her the room to take it up as if it was her idea, I believe, before long, she'll starts to credit you and the initiation of the idea. Please, don't discuss her or other staffer with any of your colleague, because, if someone discuss others with you, he/she may discuss you with other people. I wish you a successful work experience. Cheers! |
Thebachelor:You made a valid point dear...but the system should be made attractive and suitable to intelligent minds; they can even start recruiting from our higher institutions. |
It was really a funny scenario....happend this night. |
I was inside my flat, at around 8pm, when I received a phone call from my Landlady that I should turn-off my Generating set, that Armed Robbers are in the street. I dashed out to switch it off, then I realised that I was ignorance of the happenings in my environment. There was total silence cos everyone had switch off their Gen and all I could hear was the sound of Armed Robber, trying to break into a house. Then, I quickly dialed the Nigerian Police Number, Port Harcourt control centre. They received it and took my details and was assured that they will come. This is my first time of calling the Nigeria Police. About 30minutes after I called, I receive a call from the Police trying to get my address. Firstly, we spent close to 7 minutes trying to describe my street. Secondly, they couldn't even pronounce the name of the street, so I had to spell. They were frequently calling for close to 10 times, before they could locate my street. When they finally arrived at around 10:19pm, they called me out and asked for money for fuel. I was like, what! Oh no, Nigerian Police. So, I told them I was coming. I went inside, pretended as if I was going to get money. I took 500Naira from my pocket, went back to them and told that 500 Naira was all I could get. Oh boy! Them nearly slap me o. One of them said, "are we the one you want to give this. If to say armed robber enter your house, na 500 Naira you go give them?". At this juncture, I wanted to cry, not because of their intimidation but because of the fact that Nigerian Police has lost thier honour. I felt like I had called thieves to rescue me from armed robbers. My conclusion: - I think the Police needs total reformation and reorientation, I'm not sure some of them know who a policeman is. - We need community policing so that we can have police who are familiar with the terrain instead of having people from another states. - Every state should do street signage the way Fashola did in Lagos. This will make one to know the names of street in an area right from the juction close to the area. I wouldn't have been able to describe the road if the thieves haf gain entrance. - There should be a unified police numeber and should be a short code, like 911. Guys, you are free to share your experience and what you think can be done to reform the Nigerian Police. Thank you. |
ugotex85:This is the same delusional believe that gas not made your tribe progress politically..."Industrious and Successful"...a typical Agbari Ojukwu statement! It's even obvious to the blind that most of the red-light districts in Nigeria are full of Eastern babes. They even communicatein Igbo with the Ibo customers. #Industrious |
Classyzi:What if he's rich...like Lionel Messi? The truth is, when a short but rich man stands on his riches, he can be taller than the tallest man in the world. |
fairygeh:You are 5.3 ft. Not too bad for a lady. |
Hi guys, I'm just curious to know if you can date or marry a man whom you are taller than. I am 5.4 in height while my fiancee is 5.7. Sometimes we joke about it but no insecurity. Am I the only one in this category? NLers, I want to know your views. |

Can an interviewer gets intimidated by ones cv and achievements? I've ones had an interview with a coy, a panel of 3 and they kept asking how I was able to fund myself to LBS. Also, they asked me why I didnt choose lecturing instead of their offer...at last, I wasnt called for the job. They gave me a flimsy reason. |
