edisoncash: I mean the climate there is very harsh The weather makes Australia the best place to live. The country is seven times bigger than Nigeria. Also, it has differnt weather conditions. Some places are cold, where you have snows, like south Australia, while the north has hot weather like we have in Nigeria. Then talking about wind, cyclone or flooding, these affect coastal cities like Darwinn, Brisbane etc. But, do you know the good news, every house is cyclone proof. Every street has safe houses, in time of emergency and there is a radio station devoted to announce and monitor emergency situations inthe country, Anytime you feel insecure, dial emergency number, assistance will come in the next 6 mins. |

Everything about Nigeria is overhyped. If someone wants to criticize the Government, he would say people are dying of hunger. I never attended any burial in Nigeria where the primary cause of the death was hunger. Nigerians nationwide are hard working and the land is fertile. There has never been famine In the land. What Nigerians are craving for is a better welfare package from the Government. It pisses me off when someone talks about hunger in Nigeria. So also, there is always a hype about infrastructural development. Cities are not beautiful because of high rising buildings in it. If it is so, then Darwin Australia is ugly. Cities are not beautiful because of construction of a particular spot , say, a roundabout, a garden, a city square or a major road. Cities are beautified by the total architectural design, good road network, well organised buildings and gardens All these being well , maintained sidewalk and recreation centres, cutting across the city, thereby giving it a holistic development and beauty. This cannot be said about any Nigerian city, be it Abuja, PH, Lagos or Kano. I lived in 27 cities in Nigeria. I bet you no one is above average. It sucks. |

Australia is the best place to live world over. Unfortunately, to get working visa is very difficult especially for Nigerians. Do not think you can outsmart the immigration the way they do it in UK or USA. The system here is tight and organised. Secondly, there is no ghetto or areas for low income people. It is either you live a standard life or you are deported, no middle ground. |

Before sentiments, what does the law say? Are the law makers ignorant of the advantage of competency over paper qualification or are we lawless? |

I swear, I am a trained pilot and all my certificates are with my dead father. Therefore, Tinubu must employ me to fly his private jets. After all, I don't need to show my certificates to get employment. |

Nigerians are fighting an already lost battle. The world has moved on. Homosexuality issues had been debated, concluded and accepted world over. Don't be deceived by kicks from dissidents like Nigeria. They are in minority, whom we know that they will always have their say while the majority will have their way. |

omonuan: I am shocked by the venoms spewed over here against Anioma people from both sides of the aisle. From our brothers across the Niger and our brothers from Delta, Anioma is being hammered. In my own opinion, Anioma people are bona fide Igbo as well as Deltans. Making noise is not a virtue. Anioma people are cerebral and while the noise makers continue their cacophony, the Igbo of Delta are strategizing.
Because of the many years of military rule in Nigeria and the centrifugal forces that pulled the resources to Federal government, Anioma people took their first eleven to Federal matches.
Anioma Federal Government Positions: 1. Amb. Joy U. Ogwu- Nigerian Ambassador to the United Nations 2. Prof. Sylvester Monye-Special Adviser to Mr. President on Performance Monitoring and Evaluation. 3. Mrs. NgoziOlejeme-National Social Insurance Trust Fund (also SURE-P) 4. Mr. Peter Idabor-Director General of the National Oil Spill and Detection and Response Agency. 5. Prof. Epiphany Azinge-Director General of the Institute of Advance Legal Studies 6. Dr. Cairo Ojougboh-Chairman Export Processing Zone Calabar 7. Dr. Eugene Juwah-Executive Vice Chairman/CEO Nigerian Communication Commission. 8. Dr (Mrs.) Esther Uduehi-Chairman of the Board of National commission for Mass Literacy Adult and Non-formal Education (NMEC) 9. Engr. Gabriel Amuchi- MD/CEO Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) 10. Mrs. Mariam Ali-SA to Mr. President on Inter-Governmental Relations 11. Mr. Godwin Emefiele-Governor Central Bank of Nigeria 12. Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo Iweala -Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.
This left the second eleven team to play statewide politics. However, in a democratic setting all politics are local and Anioma people now understand that they also have to pay attention to local politics. Anioma people have had ancient relations with other ethnic groups in Delta and no primordial sentiment will change this fact. Even if Anioma state is created, we will still maintain our ancient ties.
And to the Igbo from across the Niger, not all Anioma people deny being Igbo. The silent majority understand they are Igbo. Someone once told me that the rich Anioma people admit to being Igbo while the poor ones deny it. I don't believe it is that black and white but I know personally I am a Deltan of Igbo ethnic group and I am proud of it.
The politicians are fanning the embers of disunity to line their own pockets. When Ibori was the governor, he lined his pocket and did not really change the life of the average Urhobo. The money he stole could have made a difference on the lives of every Deltan.I also know that an Anioma governor may pay attention mostly to his town and his cronies leaving the rest of Anioma people in penury. Ideally the best governor would be one that cares for all regardless of ethnicity. For now though, Nigerians are not politically matured to understand that we are all victims of poor governance. Therefore, we will continue to hear the ethnic jingoism. The issue of rotation is not peculiar to Delta and at the end of the day, na dem dem as they say in Nigerian parlance. If Nigerian population is up to 7% of your type, I would have considered coming back to Nigeria. |
