PoliticsRe: Ekweremmadu Denies Involvement In The Alteration Of S Senate Rules by Chesman10(m): 11:16am On Jul 09, 2015
PassingShot:
Cheap defense!

Let's believe for a second that you were not part of the forgery.

However, you are accepting that the rule was indeed fraudulently changed and there is no doubt you are a beneficiary of such criminal action.

Since you have benefited from criminality, your position can no longer be tenable. In fact, where there is moral value, you should just resign having known that you became the DSP through a forged rule. That is what people of integrity do.

#EkweremanduMustGo
I think you need to read that story again for better understanding because your comment does not go together with the main idea. DSP is saying that the standing rule of NASS is always made and prepared by the Clerk of NASS before the inauguration. This has been the norm before now. The issue of forgery should not even have arisen in the first place.

Anyone who said Bihari is a failure is not saying the truth. Also, anyone who said Buhari started on a good note is wrong. If Buhari wanted to clean the rot in the system as he claims, the best way to do that is to hit the ground running by appointing his ministers because before he does that, the perm. secretaries would have doctored some documents that would have implicated them. After all the ministers would be appointed by the President and that would make the sanitization faster and more thorough or is he saying that he cannot trust his ministers?

Prof Soludo to Ngozi............she never responded

I hereby challenge your attempt to blame others for not saving for the rainy day. It is not a virtue when you are quick to appropriate all the credit when things are going well, but shift the blame when they go wrong. You blame the state governors— who, according to you, have taken the Federal Government to the Supreme Court—not that a Supreme Court judgment forced your hands. For your information, the governors have never agreed to savings and always threatened court action even under Obasanjo. Why did we save under Obasanjo but not under Jonathan? Two keywords explain it: leadership and integrity. Governor Amaechi said the governors insisted on sharing the funds because they found out that you were illegally fiddling with the savings. So, as Nigerians still wonder, if billions of dollars are now ‘missing’ under your nose, why should governors trust you to keep their money? Do the states that have taken the federal government to the Supreme Court and refused to save also include the PDP governors—who are in the majority? If so, then it is fatal: even governors of your own party, PDP, do not trust you to keep their money! Furthermore, did the governors also stop the Federal Government from saving part of its share? If you ran a surplus budget at the Federal level, you would have had credibility to blame others or to say they did not listen to your advice. The key point is that since you were running huge deficits yourself, it was also in your own interest to share the ECA. You did not show leadership or credibility, full stop!
Sometimes I wonder what Nigerians really want. President chairs NEC meetings while Min. of Fin. chairs FAAC. Do you want Finance Min. to attend NEC meeting uninvited? Eventhough she is part of the NEC, SHE can only do what the president ordered her to do.Did the money shared by FAAC get to the governors? OBJ ignored the request of the govs because he did not need their support while GEJ obliged them because he needed their support. The questions that we need to ask is not which money is saved or which money is shared but how much was missing or unaccounted for. That should be the bone of contention. Do you want an administration to save much or to achieve much. Money is meant to be spent.

PoliticsRe: Another Boko Haram Escapee Makes Shoking Revelation by Chesman10(m): 1:11pm On Jul 06, 2015
Most people forget that Islam is not only a religious movement but also a sociopolitical platform. Denying that Boko Haram is Islamic worsens the situation and blaming Islam for Boko Haram does not help either. No force on earth can defeat Boko Haram. Let no one deceive you with empty promises. The end to Boko Haram can only come if the members have a rethink. And that should be the focus of this present administration. Otherwise they will keep on pouring the already leaned salt(resources) into the ocean.
Mark my word. No international terrorist organization like Boko Haram has been exterminated anywhere in the world in the recent world history. Nigerians should stop this blame game, christians and Biafrans inclusive Hate begets hate, it does not solve any problem

When the tambuwal crisis came up in PDP was it not as a result of zoning?
Look if APC had zoned the position to the noth east, are u saying SARAKI would have dropped his ambition and not align with PDP? I do not think so.
As for bode George, his motive in everything is always driven by his hatred for TINUBU.
Tanx. This is how to make presentation. Now you made a point that zoning still comes up with problems and treachery, thereby countering the earlier statement/theory from B. George. You have enriched my knowledge. Something again sir, stop name calling its not good.In logic, it is called attacking the straw man. It does not advance knowledge.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu And Akande Sold The South West - George by Chesman10(m): 9:04am On Jul 06, 2015
Nigerians can rarely be objective in their analysis. Tinubu did the right thing in going into alliance with other sections of the country, which is what Nigerians need presently to advance their democracy. Bode George acknowledged that in his statement. His argument was that SW being led by Tinubu and Akande should have retained the zoning principle to avoid rancour or treachery which is happening now in NASS. To me, the most consistent group of Nigerians are the political class. The followers are politically naive and lacking in their reasoning.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu And Akande Sold The South West - George by Chesman10(m): 8:46am On Jul 06, 2015
softwareman:
You mean they should have supported Jonathan and PDP for them not to be treacherous?
But TINUBU was never in PDP. supporting PDP and Jonathan would have been treacherous.
But wait a minute. Where would PDP presidential candidate come from in 2019? From the south east or the north.
If from the north, would it be treacherous for any south easterner to vote for a northern candidate of their party?
Bode George , as usual, has allowed hatred to distort his thinking faculty.
As per the north, buhari will only undermine himself if he tries to undermine TINUBU . Iit is not also true that SARAKI and his co-conspirators have won.
It is just round one of a 15 round match. What TINUBU is doing right now is the ROPER DOPER strategy Mohammed Ali used against George foreman.
ALLOW YOUR OPPONENT TO BOX HIMSELF OUT IN THE EARLY ROUND AND VIRTUALLY KNOCK HIMSELF OUT.
PDP IDIOTIC COMMENTATORS AND BODE TEWONDE GEORGE JUST DON'T AND CAN'T GET IT.
Always be balanced in your opinions so that readers will learn something from your post. Bode George did not say SW should have voted for GEJ. His argument was that political positions should have been shared and agreed upon among the6 geo-
political zones before the elections.

Hi, I like your comment. I am a Psychology student. I am impressed that you recognize that sexual behavior is hormonal. I can tell you that there are hormones that dictate homosexuality. Also remember that human behavior is 50% biological and 50% environmental.

So you know that bestiality is already in the offing and you are condemning homosexuality. Do not kick against the bricks. Nigerians see Obama as the proponent of same sex marriage. But in truth, it predated Obama administration. Now tell me is it only America that legalized same sex marriage? Nigeria should do the needful. Otherwise, it will be left behind.
I still maintain my view "those within the law should be judged within the law, those outside the law should be judged outside the law" Period. Do not judge an atheist with the ten commandments. It doesn't make sense
PoliticsRe: President Vladimir Putin Rebukes U.S. For Abandoning God And Christian Value by Chesman10(m): 12:53am On Jun 28, 2015
Same sex marriage is not evil. It is like the serpent in the garden of eden. No one is being forced or coerced into homosexuality. Its by choice. What American Supreme Court did was to stop the holy people from coercing the profane to embrace holiness. Without legalization of same sex marriage, homosexuality will still be practiced but with greater risks. Homosexuality is a natural phenomenon that should be acknowledged in any literate society. Nigeria inclusive. Hypocrisy must be pulled down from all sanctuaries.
Mind you, the quest for right to self expression will not end with homosexuality. The one trending now is bestiality which many world greats have started to embrace. Or why do you think many whites keep dogs?

PoliticsRe: Opinion: Reasons Why Terrorism Lingers In The North. by Chesman10(m): 8:31pm On Mar 04, 2015
Capableben:
Why does terrorism continue to linger in the north?
@OP, you should separate the primary and remote causes of Boko haram
The reasons you gave are just the secondary reasons while boko haram strives in the north. I lived in the north throughout my school days and I was opportune to reason with so many young Muslims and their clerics. I lived in kano, Kaduna, zaria, and in about three towns in katsina state. If you go to these core northern states as an adult, you may not understand the ideology behind way of life. I know Hausa's like the back of my palm. For your information, those kids lying in front of your shops are not a mere coincidence. Your safety and well being lies with them.If you treat them well, your stay is guaranteed, otherwise, ....
Now, the primary cause of Terrorism can be summarized as the brand of Islam introduced by Usman Dan Fodio. I don't want to mention the name. Just as you have Born-again' in christianity, so you have this sect. They want to introduce a strict, austere and pure brand of Islam. To them, you are either with them or against them, even if you claim to be a Muslim. They are ready to die for their faith. For this reason, many great northern leaders and clerics are afraid to move against them. The local populace admire and hold them in high esteem because they outspoken, truthful and incorrigible. What led to this book haram today, according to them is the failure of northern leaders to uphold the ideology of Us man Dan Fodio. When these Puritans complain to their leaders, the leaders always use the constitution of Nigeria and democracy as an excuse to persuade them. Meanwhile some members of this sect who used them to become popular will abandon the cause and join the bad and corrupt northern oligarchy.
Example of them are El Rufai, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Ibrahim Shekarau, Ali Modi Sheriff etc.
When someone says that the cause of book haram is insecurity, two things are involved, either the person is a Muslim or his teachers are Muslims because they believe that they could help to fight against boko haram if only their security is guaranteed.

I'm glad that I made your day but I have no idea what "black man problem" is.

Greece is in economic turmoil right now - those people are not 'black'.

Likewise Ukraine.

Argentina has been in flux for the best part of twenty years, again those people are not 'black.

Same goes for Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.

Please do not misconstrue what I meant. Nigeria's cultural problems are largely rooted in a failure by the majority to understand their surroundings and their history. If they did then they would aspire for better and have more respect for their environment and their neighbors. My hope is that one day Nigerians will understand that they are sat on some of the most valuable real estate on the planet and treat it with the respect that it deserves.

it is far from being all bad, Nigeria has improved a great deal since the military left power and there are people in that country intent on doing what is best for their homeland. You mentioned, hatred as a Nigerian problem, hatred is part of the human condition but self-hatred is a sickness often displayed on this forum by those claiming to be Nigerian. I take issue with the never ending list of people eager to run down Nigeria - some of whom are bitter Nigerians but many are foreigners who have never stepped foot in Nigeria. That is the height of ignorance.

With all due respect, I do not believe that we are on the same page. Nigeria is far from being the worst place in the world, the Western world is in a situation that it cannot pull itself out of in that the economic system that they have foistered upon the world is now failing their own people. Most western nations are now suffering increased unemployment or a drop in living standards allied with a raise in taxes. Sadly, there is a lack of perspective and these facts are missed (or ignored) by many people who seem keen to attack Nigeria.
yes I quite agree with you. Do not think that you can explain everything you mean or believed in a page of nairaland. First, for my life, I have been a good ambassador of my country in all the places I have travelled to, and I would be a fool to disparage my native country. I have met Nigerians here who advised me mot to disclose my nationality. But I have resisted to deny my nationality or even lie about my age in order to get a better deal in all the places I worked.
Then coming to what I mean by blackmans problem, it is still the act of not having that retrospective glance of its history and environment. From my experiences in African countries I travelled to, like Nigeria, like other African countries.the same problem, be it Ghana, Angola, Gabonand recently, South Africa.
Nigeria remains second most blessed country in the world, after USA. Nigerian have talents and resources that can develop Africa to be at the same level with europe. I bet you, Nigeria does not need foreign aid to develop to any level it wants, having all the mineral resources.
Now, let me tell you that those countries you mentioned are not naturally, Nigeria mates in any way. Compare Nigeria with USA, India, China and maybe Russia. Those are our mates. That is the league Nigeria should be.
When you talk about ptoblems, every country passes through certain phases in history and it is how they overcome that counts. Now, in Nigerias case, have we as a people agree that we are facing challenges? What we see on the papers is agrgrieved people complaining about Government here and there. When such people have the opportunity to be in Government, they change the course. It becomes business as usual.
So, I believe that Nigerian problem is with the culture and until we come to think and reason above board, we may not get it right, irrespective of the resources available and the administration present. This is not political section, so let us not go into proper or indepth analysis.
TravelRe: A Nairalander's Trip To New Zealand by Chesman10(m): 11:06am On Feb 22, 2015

The problem with Nigeria is cultural - Nigeria has everything needed to be a wonderful place, the problem is the culture.

People insist on passing down their unfortunate cultural traits to their children (of which they have too many) and then lament the state of the nation. They fail to understand their own role in the destruction of their homeland.

My hope is that there is a mass exodus of some sort (or an event that relieves the population burden) so that the country can be built up into what it should be, both from an infrastructure and cultural standpoint. At the moment there are too many people within that country clinging to their idiotic practices that will get in the way of progress.

P.S.
Someone in here made an interesting point about the Australians being "humble" by wearing short pants and sandals - that isn't "humble", in 30 degrees Celcius it makes sense to wear light/minimal clothing. This is one of my primary issues with Nigerians/Nigerian culture - the impractical nature of the society. The resources are there but the mentality, sadly, is not.
you have made my day. This is what I have always argued with friends back then in Nigeria. They never agreed with me. Nigeria problem is black man problem. Culture of hatred, bitterness and self-serving is generally, black mans problem.Let no one deceive you about leadership. Our culture is the greatest barrier. Sycophancy and celebration of mediocrity inherent in our culture inhibits development.Love you Aussies, the greatest land of humanity and hopitality.
