Miss Chinyere Awuda, a young woman from Nnobi in Idemmili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, tragically lost her life last weekend at Cosmila Hotel in Awka, Anambra State. She was beaten to death by a group of fun seekers at the hotel’s club.

According to sources, trouble erupted at the club when Mr. Gabriel Chinemere, a well-known club-goer, and his companions started assaulting her. Despite attempts by others present to intervene and rescue her, the relentless beating and harassment persisted.

“One of the clubbers accused her of picking money which the fun seekers were spraying on their friend who was a birthday celebrant.

“Some others said she did not only pick money, but went for bundles of money, which a clubber stacked by his seat side, waiting to spray on the celebrant,” a source told Daily Post.

“Because men are already drunk in club, the girls get away with the money. I was not in club last weekend, but I heard that the girl went for money that someone kept by his seat side, which he was getting prepared to go and spray. That was what happened.”

Eventually, the situation escalated, and the assailants dragged Miss Awuda outside the club and callously disposed of her lifeless body in the hotel’s swimming pool.

Confirming the incident, Anambra State Police Spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that the birthday celebrant and his friends have been taken into police custody as investigations into the case are underway.

“Contrary to what people are saying about the complicity of Cosmila Hotel, we were assisted by the management of the hotel, to arrest the suspects. Investigation is still ongoing,” he said.

The Federal Government says the timing for nationwide curfew is now 10pm to 4am.

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, made this known on Monday.

Aliyu, who spoke at the daily briefing of the task force in Abuja, said the new timing takes effect from tomorrow (Tuesday).

He said, “Effective from tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2, 2020, the easing of the lockdown will be characterized by the following: The nationwide curfew will remain in place but the timing of this will be reduced to 10pm to 4am.

“And just to clarify, the purpose of the curfew is to limit social interactions and, therefore, reduce the risk of transmission of the virus.”

A man has lost his eye after being struck in the face by a gas canister thrown by a police while he was protesting George Floyd's murder.



The man, who has been identified as Balin Brake, 21, was taking part in downtown demonstrations when he was hit by a projectile gas canister. The canister ruptured his eye and left him bleeding.



Fort Wayne Police on Sunday evening said the injury was incidental and not the result of a deliberate attempt to injure the man.



After the incident, Brake took to Twitter to reveal that he is scheduled to have surgery on Sunday, May 31, and he may lose his eye after surgery.

Nigel Seymour, 59, and his now-wife Rachel, 30, met on a nudist holiday three years ago.



The couple enjoyed a whirlwind romance before getting engaged after just six months.



Nigel, a car restorer, proposed to Rachel in front of 400 naked strangers while on a trip.



The holiday was organised by British Naturism – a society for people who prefer living naked.



Rachel, a care assistant, and her husband Nigel, decided they would be married while naked, surrounded by their closest friends and family.



Rachel said: “Our naked wedding made perfect sense, as it meant I didn’t have to spend £1,000 on a wedding dress.

“Getting married in the buff with your friends and family is still just as magical an experience.



“It felt really freeing.



“We met in the buff, Nigel proposed in the buff and we had a ceremony naked. It closed the chapter.”



Rachel joked that all guests had to bring to her “fun” naked wedding was a towel and sun cream.

After their wedding, the couple set off for a naked honeymoon in the world’s largest naturist village in France.

Being naked feels normal to Rachel, who grew up with a naturist father named Harvey Allen.

Whereas, Nigel only entered the lifestyle nine years ago at the age of 50.



He said: “What I liked was that you had no idea what people did in their day-to-day lives – whether they were a judge, a doctor, or a police officer.

Nigerian comedian Francis Agoda better known by his stage name IGoDye is contributing his quota to the fight against coronavirus by announcing that he is donating his mansion to the federal government to use as an isolation centre.

The Nigerian entertainer in an Instagram post shared:

“I’m donating my new Fapoh Royal Seal mansion to federal government of Nigeria to use it as an isolatopn centre.”

Sharing a photo of the mansion, he wrote a lengthy post about how humanity will overcome challenges if only people are willing to let go of things they are not using for the benefit of others.

According to him, he decided to make the donation in view of the increasing cases of coronavirus patients in Nigeria and the availability of only a few screening centres.

This challenge he writes makes him deeply worried and he urges all to be proactive in trying to win the global war against COVID-19.

His caption further reads in part:

“I feel convinced to donate this my new FAPOH Royal Seal Mansion to the Federal Government to be used as an isolation centre, as my personal quest to assist in the control, prevention, isolation and treatment of those diagnosed or to be treated in the course of us finding a lasting solution.

This donation will stand as a gift to humanity, till we find a solution which will once again set us free from the shackles of this incurable disease.”

IGoDye goes on to appeal to Nigerians to treat COVID-19 as a serious issue by reminding them that the virus has claimed over one million lives in all parts of the world.

He concluded by calling on the government to alleviate the hardship being faced by the people during this period of lockdown by providing “adequate palliatives for all Nigerians until the disease becomes a thing of the past.”

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar announced late Sunday evening that one of his sons had tested positive for Coronavirus.

Atiku, who is also the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general elections announced this on his verified Twitter handle on Sunday.

Though he failed to give the name of the son, he, however, revealed that he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment

“My son has tested positive to coronavirus,” he tweeted.

“The @NCDCGov (Nigeria Centre for Disease Control) has been duly informed, and he has been moved to Gwagwalada Specialist Teaching Hospital in Abuja for treatment and management. I will appreciate it if you have him in your prayers. Stay safe, coronavirus is real,” he added.
