Plan I have set in place on Igbo presidency if I share it here. Forget Igbo presidency unless maybe the powers decide to just give us an opportunity to try
Please don't share it here, information here that is not safe.

You are right though, the north and the east are both landlocked, but the west is offering them a better of offer. Tinubu has aligned with the North already,

As a matter of fact the north doesn't need the east anymore, they would soon complete the railway from Lagos to Kano. Some sections have been completed.

So I actually believe it's tougher to align with the North, or would I say too ambitious.

The best bet is to align with SS. Afterall we have a long history together. If IPOB can stop abusing SW calling them slaves and also stop abusing SS calling them Saboteurs , it would be easier.

You are right. The Southwest adopted centralized settlement which actually created space for forest preservation and availability of large cimmunal lands for farming. The Southeast has a pattern of settlement that wastes land
As in ehn, land that we don't have in surplus. government needs to adopt some socialism tactics , they should take hold of the lands and make sure people only build what is required in that particular location. That way farm land would be available, and forest reserve would still remain.

To me Igbo land as a whole need to re evaluate our land tenure system, to me theres no need having houses that people love in for just 1week in a year alot would have to go. For something more reasonable
As in ehn, sometimes I sit down and wonder.
If everyone is rushing to build big mansion that they live in only in Christmas period.
Won't all the lands be finished in a span of 10 - 20 years. Wasted on mansions with little commercial potential. As of now some communities already don't have lands anymore

What brought about the conversation, a uni been built in a forest area.

Are we looking for beauty or economic prosperity.

If u look at IMO state from google earth, u would know that IMO state is still very much back ward than most states, owerri is very small in size.

We are talking about how to develop and expand the city and u people are bordering about forest.

How many forests does Lagos have?
Look at the state that you are modelling after. Lagos ? Do you know the kind of air pollution in Lagos? not to talk of water and noise pollution too. See you must reserve forests. Non-reservation of forests is the reason northern Nigeria is slowly turning to desert, it's the reason soil erosion is very common in South East. No Afforestation plans

You guys should check out this video, the man analyzed the 5 stages a group of people (race , tribe) have to pass through in other to gain more control in the society ..

In the video he used blacks as a case study, but I believe it's also applicable to us southern Nigerians ( Igbo, Yoruba , or anyone) , since I can liken white supremacy to northern Nigeria political dominance

lol, Lagos is the industrial hub of Nigeria and Africa at large..

It's good to dream shaa cheesy
Lol you are the dreamer o.. How will you say Lagos is the industrial hub of Africa .

Where would you throw the likes of Johannesburg, Cape town and Cairo.
See Lagos is just one overpopulated city, yes it's industrial but the environment is not really conducive for many foreign companies.

I said what I said , Anambra can rival Lagos in whatever industrialization they have , Owerri can be as beautiful as Abuja.

All these can only happen with good governance, and with mindset of Igbo rich people coming home to establish the industries ..
What is a Lagos kwanu? No be the same Igbo people plenty for that state?

Road built by a quiet billionaire at Ndi Aniche, Arondizuogu. I believe it is a model for others to follow suit instead of waiting on Government.
Nice work,

Is it just me, or does any other person feel that with the rate of individual development like hotels, roads , schools , even residential houses, going on in Igboland. Within a decade SE , would probably be the most developed region.. and rival Lagos and Abuja
PoliticsRe: 2023 Igbo Presidency Final List ; APC Rotimi Amaechi , Onyema . PDP Wike , Umahi by Chibuzo15: 11:49am On May 25, 2020
Reading through all the comments here, I can only see lots of bad blood and tribalism , running deep among southerners.
One thing that every southerner should understand is that. Without unity, we stand no chance against the north.
The northerners vote en masse, their people even travel home during election in multitude just to make sure their candidate wins.

All this Niger Delta this, Biafra dat, Oduduwa this is all pointless. Although now S.W has a far better chance at presidency with help of APC Tinubu and Oshiomole, but what if the North betrays them ? It will end in history.

Now look at this bad blood between Igbo and S.S , see ehn.. whether you are Benin or Igala , or Ikwerre o or Delta. Just know that without unity the Northerners would keep ruling and maybe sometimes a S.W person too. For example Jonathan could only win because SS and SE supported him. Obviously S.W had no choice but to support him, but unfortunately he fell out of luck in second election, and just because S.W didn't support him he lost .

On the question of IPOB , with the state of things. Nigeria isn't as civilized as Britain , so I don't see any possible allowed secession in even a decade. And unfortunately other regions don't care abt the emotions and anger of every IPOB member ranting online. The other day I was watching Ngozi Okonjo interview on BBC Igbo, all I could see was IPOB rants. It's as if the members don't know the country we are in.

I think it's really a time for a rethink, I mean a big rethink. Everywhere I go, whether SW, SS, or SE . The northerners are looked at as uncivilised, backward people.
Then I looked at it, that how come such a group of people have been able to hold power compared to the so called hyper educated , multiple degree holding , people of the Southern region. The only answer is unity.

The truth is bitter, but lemme say this

The more the IPOB rants, the harder it would be for an Igbo to become president.

The more the SS rants against Igbo the harder it would be for a SS presidency.

SW I don't know, sitting on the fence can be good or bad. After 2023, we would know if that method paid off

Last last na southern unity we need , gracias

I get you, but it's a good start. Atleast, we need somewhere to place one feet on.

What sectors do you think we diversify into? Don't forget we already get income from oil
Oil is phasing out sooner than expected though, this one that countries are now rushing electric cars. Truly it seems hospitality is all our businessmen can think about now because I don't see IMSG building electrity power plant anytime soon (which is needed for ICT)

Tourism is a good option too.. e.g Oguta lake

This assertion is very false.

IMO state hospitality business ain't favorable.

Even if we can't focus on industries we should focus on ict
I support ICT , but I feel it's more of an individual thing. If there is good electricity and good network pricing . Facebooks and Amazon's would be formed in Imo state within little time

Six universities and polytechnics in Imo state are all located in or nearest to Owerri. The young flesh of about 200,000 girls - and boys - in these education institutions drive the tourism industry in Owerri. Imopoly is nearest to Owerri. No Las Vegas or Healing River in Owerri to attract tourists.

Tell Owerri that one of the institutions needs to be relocated to Orlu or to Okigwe areas, you get demonized, or be told to organize people from Orlu or Okigwe to contribute money to establish private university in their domains. Filthy mindset.
Well I thought about this too, unfortunately it's inevitable. It's all over the country, poverty is the culprit .. but I've not still understood your major drive for this Develop Orlu. I believe Rochas already started it.

I'm from Orlu zone though, back then traveling home , road was really bad in Orlu town but I think Rochas fixed it, also he built a private/public school in his hometown Eastern Palm university.

That equally is development in Orlu zone

There doesn't have to be a major tourist centre to drive the hospitality industry. Look at the places we cited, the hotels themselves become the driving factor.

Don't forget during Ohakim's time, Imo won the neatest capital and his clean and green policy brought a kinda soothing feeling when you visit. People want to relax in a place where there isn't pollution, low crime rate, reduced noise, good food, and a general feeling of peace... Consider the fact that Imo is also kinda centralised in the South East, surrounded by Anambra, Rivers, and Abia. It just feels like Israel in the midst of the turbulent Arab nations (no offence intended to those in the other states)

That's what Imo provides, and Rochas capitalized on that and brought the hospitality REVOLUTION we are witnessing today. Imo now has a name as "ebe Mme Mme" or where you come to "gba oringo". He organised a lot of events for this to happen and even took personal interest in the development of Ibari Ogwa. So whether we like it or not, a big kudos goes to him for that

Just yesterday, someone posted on this thread about Oguta lake with accompanying video, I know the zoo in Owerri (Old Nekede) is one of the few in the country with a lion and lioness (atleast I saw them when I visited), although the road to that place is very bad. So we can say Imo hasn't even started making use of its tourist centres in attracting visitors.
Who would have known that hospitality could boost a state so fast, I actually respect Rochas a lot for that aspect. The way I'm seeing development pop up on this thread, malls and etc. Seems the state would soon experience a sharp growth

Thank you for your comments. Same thing I've been trying to say. All the states can't be into building of factories and industries, Imo has decided to invest in the hospitality sector, let's allow it be.

What people don't know is that the presence of the hospitality industry will lead to a boost in several other industries in Imo state such as agriculture and transport sectors.

Just as you mentioned Dubai, let me add Las Vegas. These are cities whose economy are majorly based on the hospitality sector and are cashing out from it.

The hospitality sector requires agricultural produce to survive, such as meat, fish, chicken, vegetables and staple crops. That'll bring a boost to the agric sector.

It also requires the transport sector. People fly into Las Vegas and Dubai just to spend the weekends, who said such can't be achieved in Imo state, considering we already have an airport. Let the roads be repaired, then u'll be surprised Uber might soon launch in Imo state.

From recent posts on this thread, it seems there is an increase in road construction which is a very good thing. We will get there, it's a gradual process

@Sanctity454, note that the value of a building isn't just the building alone but also the ground/location on which it was built. You look down at the massive hotels in Owerri, because they were built in Owerri.

If these same hotels were built in, say GRA Lagos or Lekki, you'll be the one complaining they are building "billion naira hotels" outside Imo state. So that you feel they ain't worth that much is just because of where they are built.
I've been very curious about this subject matter of hospitality industries in Owerri, please what is the major factor driving people to use the hotels, because I don't see any major tourist center in Owerri

Yes bros.
If Hope governs like Okorocha, any other Orlu person who cries again here deserves a big slap.
Lols.. well , I don't live in South East , so I don't really understand the complain about Rochas not working in Orlu , we normally pass Orlu and the roads there were very bad until Rochas dualized it.
Achike Udenwa's time , the road was so bad I can remember.

Maybe he is hated because of his substandard building methods , but I still like the fact that Owerri became fine. Which I still attribute to Rochas .

The new governor should just carry on with the development. Health sector to be precise huh

Having your democracy overthrown should not be met with you trying to carve something optimistic out of it. I think we often try to like problems instead of facing them head on because facing them head on is difficult. But we have convinced ourselves to support enough evil to create hell on earth.
Hmm , since it has happened , the only way is forward .. fighting d overthrow now is to slow development Further

I just noticed Hope isn't attacking neither Rochas nor Ihedioha , instead he said he will continue from where they stopped.
Government of continuity ,I believe , is what we need
