chimp2pimp, this is why we call you a charlatan!
ONCE A DOOFUS ALWAYS A DOOFUS
The only thing those stats you posted up there showed is that Carrick is best passing Midfielder of three which was clearly obvious to the naked eyes anyways. Heck Leon Britton probably has better passing stasts than the two of em'.
I still insist i'll put more faith in either of Mikel or Parker protecting my back 4 than Carrick.
If He was that good/great we won't be having this discussion about his exclusion from the national squad. It would have been a no brainer.
As a Midfielder Carrick is no better than Mikel Arteta.

coogar: another charlatan speaketh.....
having carrick as a defensive midfielder would be suicidal as opposed to who?
gareth barry? alex song? cheikh tiote? mikel obi? or who?

the job of a defensive midfielder is simple yet people think it's complex.
carrick's job is to screen his back four. provide a shield, nullify attacks
by either making tackles(zombies) or make interceptions(geniuses).
interception trumps tackles as tackles can result to a foul or even get
penalised with a yellow or red card.

in the whole of europe, only sergio busquets is better than carrick in the role of a modern defensive midfielder.
You are a Doofus!
I'd rather have Mikel in front of my back four than Carrick.
And given the option of either Carrick Or Parker as my defensive Mid I'd also choose Parker.
But as England going to play a two man midfield or most likely three man, I believe Carrick as England's best passer of the ball should be amongst them.

Modern defensive Midfielder my foot. And yet Man united's weakest spot is still the midfield
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by chic2pimp(m): 3:45pm On May 17, 2012
Nah the reason England fail is because the players are simply not good enough. It's that simple
Also having Carrick as the defensive midfielder would be suicidal. Tbh the same can be said for Barry. These players need the insurance of a solid Defensive midfielder. Although Carrick would have been the better option.
As England's best passer, Carrick should be playing in the centre Mid position and allowed to control possesion. Similar to what the likes of Xavi,Pirlo and Bastian do for their respective countries

I'll repeat myself again. Absolutely rubbish

medjai: You've not heard of PSG or Anzhi. We signed him for £31m by the way.
More Like £23M and dude was still overpriced at that amount.
Not even Anzhi and definitely not PSG would be willing to pay £40M for Alves.
Abeg only Strikers and Midfielders cost that much. Defenders and Keepers in most part don't. Only if you are once in a gen Keeper or Central Defender.

Mcleo007: U mean he's not worth that amount? There are clubs that are willing to splash that amount on him. A full-back that rakes up goal assists every season.
Never read so much rubbish in my life.
Wonder which club is willing to splash out 40M on a Full back who can not defend.

It's been a while since I posted on this thread. Since then Juve has overtaken Milan and sealed their 28th scudetti. Congrats to them. Eventhough I feel their win was as a result of Milan's inability to see things through.

Hopefully with a few additions next season, we'll be back stronger and better for it.

Lastly I must say I sincere goodbye to 4 Milan Legends who would all be leaving at the end of the season. Tomorrow's match would be their last time in a Milan shirt. Milan Fans the world over would like to thank Sandro, Pippo,Rino and Clarence for all their services, efforts and sacrifice rendered to Milan over this years. We will be forever grateful.

Quietly confident about the azzuri's chances this summer. We would go into the tournament which as much fanfare as the likes of Germany and Spain(when have we ever had that anyways?) and I think that might just suit us down to tee. Although I still believe we are a tier below the likes of Spain and Germany.

Though I sickens me to admit this,I must say Mafiosio's Juve's scudetto triumph might actually have been a good thing for Italy considering the spine of the team ply their club trade in Turin. Buffon,Bonucci,Chiellini,Marchisio,Barzagli,Pirlo. With the latter 2 being particularly outstanding. Another bonus has been the form of Giovinco in recent weeks. He would be a great player to have and bring on substitute as I don't think he would start. Also Cassano's somewhat impressive form since returning from career and life threatning ailment says to me he has to start.

Lastly Prandelli should get someone to have a quiet word in the ears of Sandro. His performance for Milan when fit tells me he still has something to offer the Azzuris. I'll take a 70% fit Nesta over most defenders in the world today if I am to be honest. Plus a Nesta-Chiellini/Barzagli central pairing sounds more appealing than any other pairing we can conjure up at the moment.

Funny dude....Any man and his dog could have and really should be getting chelsea through those earlier rounds.
However it takes a competent manager to not just see you past those earlier rounds but also take you far into those competition with a possibility of winning them. Something we all can agree AVB is not.
Luckily RA saw sense and fired him before things went any further downhill. I rate that as one of the best decisions he has taken since taking over the reigns at chelsea.

mikeapollo: Weah won his awards on the strength of his performances for his club and also because of the great humanitarian efforts in using football to preach/promote peace in his war-torn country and also sponsoring his national team (he learnt from Abedi's gesture, but he also went further to shoulder virtually all the expenses of the team(of course, he also got into some beef with some other players in the team which also affected the ascendancy of the Liberian team)
Dude will you spewing poppycocks pls. Who told you Weah won those awards on the back of his humanitarian efforts. Abeg if you don't have evidence to bring to the people pls stop lying.

Weah won those awards because yes he was that good. I know it is hard for you to admit it since Abedi never got close to either awards but son you just have to.

Do you think the Ballon d'or is given out based on sentiments? If it was the great Zidane would have won it more than once considering he is French. I keep reiterating if Weah had had a moderately good national team they would have been much more daylight between the two than there is now.

Also one would have thought Abedi would have led the star studded ghananian team to worldcup qualification once but as we all know He never did.

Yekini vs Bulgaria

It Might not have been his best but certainly his most important and one that announced Nigeria's arrival on the world stage. Also loved the celebration(same goes for Finidi George vs Greece). Pure ecstacy and relief rolled into one. Nigeria's greatest ever no 9. You will be solely missed.

Rashidi Yekini...... and it is a goal. R.I.P Dude.

mikeapollo: Chic2pimp/Ayusco,

You people know little about Abedi, so dont say much. Okocha is a baby to Abedi. Even Weah cannot say he was better than Abedi. Did you watch the 1991/92/93 European Champions League? I doubt it. DStv was not widely available in Nigeria (and most African countries)at that time. Please, also go watch the French League of the same period before you come talk anything.
Mr Know It All AKA Abedi Pele's son

The little I know is probably more than you'll ever know so let's not go there. Where in all of my posts did I ever say Okocha was a better player? Ofcourse you can't find it because I never said that. All I said was that Weah(not Okocha) was the better player and that statement still stands. Let's for a minute assume I did not watch the 1991/1992/1993 ECL, was his performances in that competition any better than say Deco's from 2003-2006? Ofcourse not so pls cut the crap. Go and watch Marseille's Match fixing tainted era? Nah i'll pass on that. When Abedi ever places in that top 5 of the FPOTY Award, get back to me.

Also can you post me links of those supposed players calling Abedi Africa's greatest ever player. I'd dearly love to see it. A wild guess would say you are making that up. It is widely acknowledged that Weah is at worst in the top two of Africa's greatest ever. That would have been even more clearer had Weah been fortunate to play in a moderately good national team.
