2nd gen black people of African/Carribean descent fall under the black British category and have more in common than a homebased guy, but for the sake of this topic I just wanted to differentiate them here as far at their dating/marriage patterns based on upbringing.
I hear that!. It makes a lot of sense now.

ibkayee:
Lol exactly, but homebased ones on here paint the narrative that this applies to all Nigerians, including the 'freshies'
LOOOL....Well we are all allowed to dream aren't we? cheesy

What's happening in the UK?
The number of Covid-19 cases is over 73000 and just less than 350 has recovered. Similarly in Ireland.

If their approach is not working, they should be flexible and seek help from countries with high recovery rate like Germany.

Just wondering if they are really concerned about this disturbing trend!

Of course I'm bothered.
It's nothing to be worried about. It's not amongst the statistics being collated by the Government on a daily basis. No of deaths, No of hospital admissions, No of patients that require both oxygen treatment and ICU are viewed as much more important in their fight to bring an end to this Pandemic.

ibkayee:
Lool I usually make a distinction between homebased Africans, those who are ethnically African but raised abroad (2nd gens will come under this, though technically British they still have parents who were born in their homeland so their upbringing will reflect this which is why I wanted to make a distinction between them and a Black Brit) and then the Black Brit/Others (could be carribean, mixed etc, maybe even some third gens etc) black people.
To summarize, in your opinion a Black Brit is an individual whose ancestry goes all the way back(you'll have to trace it really)or those that have fully acclimated to the british way of life? That means there would only be a handful of them then as most Black British Families came in during the wind rush era or the 70s/80s and the majority of them still live in small communities scattered all over the country. You'd have to go way back to the Slave trade Era to find Real True Black Brits. IMO second Generation Black people of African/Carribean descent fall under the Black British category. You and I for example.

ibkayee:
Difference to me is not necessarily the names (although this can sometimes be an indicator) or even physical appearance. It's usually culture, ideologies, upbringing, identification etc. They may all originate from the same place but they were socialised/raised in different ways, there are certain ways that a homebased may think and act that a guy raised abroad may not and vice versa.
I hear that and I 100% agree. For instance I can more often than not tell the difference between a Second Gen Ghanian and say a Second Gen Trini.

ibkayee:
Also, in the context of this discussion, an Oyibo’s experience with ‘black people’ is generally more likely going to be with the ‘abroad’ black community, rather than say a community that is more representative of those who are homebased, the same could even be said between two different countries in Africa for example, but I digress.
Whilst I agree that an Oyinbo person's experience with Black people is generally going to be from the perspective of an "Abroad Based" community, by your definition, that still falls under the British African/Carribean category not the Black British one. Upward Social Mobility is the Main reason why Black Families move into White areas and seeing that upward mobility is more prevalent amongst 1st and 2 Gen Afro/Carribean Migrants, they are likely to meet their fair share of people from these Sub Group.

ibkayee:
I made this distinction people folks on here were acting like when there’s a discussion about black people as a whole, Naija is who they particularly have in mind, when it’s not that straightforward. They may be a part of the conversation merely by skin association, but folks on here were acting like they were at the forefront.
There is a reason why I tend not to get myself involved in this sort of debate. As you can see I specifically asked for the difference between a "Black Brit" and a "British Nigerian" not a "British Nigerian" and a "Nigerian Freshie". There is a whole world of difference between the Latter subgroups I mentioned. Anyone that thinks otherwise is simply fooling Him/Herself. The White Girls amongst them that only date Nigerians(using that in context of this debate) are referring to the Likes of AJ,Tinie Tempah and Maro Itoje not some Fresh off the Boat Aff Uncle. Sorry Mr but no one is looking in your direction.

Also, even though they're all technically black, I like to differentiate between British black men, British Nigerian men and home based Nigerian men because the differences between them is another topic on its own lol
Rahhhh!...Me personally, I'd like to know the difference between a Black Brit and a British Nigerian? Without looking at their names, how do you differentiate between these two sub groups? What distinct feature does one group possess that is clearly missing from the other?

What is behind the higher death rate of black people from Covid-19?

Death rate per 1,000 in New York is twice that of whites

Black people make up 30% of Chicago population yet 62% of deaths

We're seeing the same in London.

New York and New Jersey Governors blame it on socio-economic conditions eg black people having no choice but to work, and having to ride buses and trains thereby not observing social distancing. However a doctor I follow on YouTube I think hit the nail on the head by saying darker skin converts Vitamin D from the sun more slowly than lighter skin so black people generally have lower level of Vitamin D. Vitamin D of course is key to fighting off viruses.

Doctors in the house, what do you think?
In the UK, socio economic conditions has a huge part to play in the discrepancy in figures but so does the Size of the population. London the epicentre of the outbreak in the UK has around 40% of people classified as being from a Black or Ethnic minority group so that is bound to affect the overall figures. London dominates the top ten boroughs with the highest amount of Covid 19 patients.

Cultural beliefs also plays a part too. For example we all know compared to their white counterparts, people of Black(Africans in particular) and South Asian origin tend to live in larger households. As we all know living in such close proximity to one another means the Virus will spread at a much faster rate . Now combine that with the fact that quite a huge portion of the at risk group comes from those Ethnic backgrounds then you realise it's a disaster waiting to happen.

The same chloroquine I grew up drinking like water for malaria?

You mean Trump announced Chloroquine on live TV, 50 million people went and bought the thing and only 3 idiots from Naija went into hospital with Chloroquine poisoning, and one person in Yankee died from taking non-medical Chloroquine used for cleaning swimming pools.

Don't let CNN attempt to make Trump look stüpid stop you from protecting yourself oh. Good health is better than politics.

I have been stocking Chloroquine a good 2 months before Trump made his statement based on it's usage in several countries like China and Korea etc. I will not let CNN political pointscoring stop me from protecting my kith and kin.
I did not say you should stop using it. Use with caution is all I ask.

As far as I know there is no concrete proof it actually works. All the Evidence so far are Anecdotal. The most recent Chinese Study even says that using hydroxychloroquine is no better than more conventional coronavirus treatments, such as bed rest, antiviral drugs and oxygen inhalation. If and When it's found chloroquine does work, trust me the Chinese will be using it and not let their Citizens die in their thousands.

Stay stafe Bro!

I noticed your earlier comment that it was only precautionary. Believe me, Govt will only send out positive message so that the country won't panic, and ministers won't start scrambling for power.

If a country cannot take care of it's no1 citizen, I will not be waiting for non-existent Healthcare system to take care of me. Chloroquine and Azithromycin at the ready mate. Even if common catarrh hold me, I don dey swallow.
Good point made there. Tbh His treatment should have stated treatment earlier but doing that would have gone against the 7-14 Self Isolation/observation treatment His government are currently preaching. Wishing Him Speedy recovery. He is one tough cookie.

Becareful with this Chloroquine thingy you keep harping on about. No go poison yourself abeg o.

Yeah so they say, I figured it must be a bit more serious than they're trying to make out if he's being hospitalised. But it could also be 100% precautionary, who knows. In any case, I wish him a speedy recovery
It was most definitely more serious than they made it out to be. Temporarily standing down and handing over the running of Affairs to Dominic Rabb seems like the sensible thing to do at this Point. His most urgent priorities right now should be His health, that of His Fiancee's and ofcourse His Unborn Child.

My colleague who sits in the office adjoining mine was tested 3 days ago and came back positive yesterday. He shares that office.with another guy who has been off for two weeks with a temperature etc but yet to be tested. I am always in that office laughing and joking with them, and vice-versa.

I'm hoping some light headedness I was feeling two weeks was the same thing. I got that feeling I get when I suspect Malaria is coming like my immune system is gearing up for action. That same week my daughter came down with fever of 38.6 and requested to go to sleep straight from school. By next morning.she was bouncing around.

Here's hoping I have already caught the shït and my immune system ate it up like Pacman, same with my daughter. Govt should hurry up and release antibody test. If that were the case, I go dey go shop with reckless abandon ehn.

She is doing ok thank you for asking. The daily death toll increase is doing nothing to allay my fears and neither is the fact they are running incredibly low on supplies of PPE. On the plus side though, they are now testing NHS Staffs in numbers which I suppose is a move in the right direction. How are you btw?

Also, it’s been close to 2 weeks since I visited the gym and my body is asking “what is going on”?

Big shout out to all the active healthcare workers, these guys are braving the odds. You guys rock!!!!
It really is sad. It's quite bad down here too but due to both your High Population and Trump's initial reaction to the epidemic, it'll only get worse in the States before it hopefully gets better.

LOOOL Bro I don't think I have ever consumed this much food in such a short space of time.

I don't think we can thank these Health Care Workers enough if we tried. I know this first hand as Mum is one of them.
