Roland17: Baba noooo!!! If you read closely you would see where I called out his team mates but it would a disservice to Giannis if we don’t hold him accountable for games like today. He is definitely on a different level in comparison to his team mates so he has to perform at his level. He showed up in only 2 quarters of the game, the 2nd was late in the 4th. He made some very careless decisions with the ball especially shot selections. I get it, Vogel made it difficult but he made it easier for them to game plan for him during the game with bad selections. This is a game against 2 contenders, this is a game the superstars circle with intention to dominate all 4 quarters. LeBum’s performance tonight was indicative of my last sentence. Giannis is still my MVP candidate, no questions asked but he desperately needs a ring considering how hard he has worked over the last 3 seasons.
Hence why I said He had a decent game not a great one. Whilst He did not have a great game, there is only so much He could have done out there tonight. He would have needed to have gone for 50+ tonight for His team to have stood a chance of winning. Tbh I don't think Vogel did anything special. Nothing that far out of the ordinary really. Nurse and Spo on the other hand, now we are talking.
I already acknowleged King James was fantastic today but Davis was the real difference maker. When your Second Option is giving up 30+ points in combination with DPOY level defence then you are doing well.
LOOOOL ....Unless you are MJ's Bulls or the Warriors, you'll loose a few games. Credit to you Guys though. The duo Bron and AD were immense today. That's AD I want to see come playoffs.
Roland17: Giannis also needs to show up. He had a great 1st Q and that was it until late in the 4th. Credit to Vogel and his coaching crew, they have contained him largely, forcing him to play outside the paint which he settled for by taking low percentage shots. He looks aggressive in the 4th like he was in the 1st and that is what he has to do for 4 quarters especially against fellow contenders.
Nah He has done alright. His teammates need to show up like AD has done for Bron today. There is only so much one man can do. If these dudes keep playing like this, no way they reach the ECF nevermind win the titles. As for low percentage shots, He's been taking them frequently these last few games. Gearing up for the playoffs methinks.
rationalmind: I mentioned it the other day after the match. Those guys were absolutely brilliant.
Each player knew where to stay to receive the pass, the one playing the pass knew exactly where to put it. The thing be like magic. If I believed in Jazz, I would have said Bayern players used Jazz
For real though. About time We give credit to whom it's due.
A40: How?? The season was barely 20 games in. They were like 2 games ahead of the 10th seed. 2! Why are people acting like they were a sure-fire playoff squad?
AD has been reduced to a complete non factor despite being the difference maker on defense. They couldn't stop a nosebleed last year and suddenly this year they are a top 5 defense
What the Lakers have is a system that over relies on Bron. This same George Hill was in Cleveland and looked like a G-LEAGUE player and now people are asking where was this George Hill? Jordan Clarkson at Utah is doing same thing. When your system is not over reliant on one player and scorers are not reduced to spot up shooters, you get a little more performance from them
As I asked Roland, would you with your hand on your heart confidently say the Lakers would have missed out on the Playoffs last year had Bron not missed all those games?
But AD is getting His Just credit though. He is the Frontrunner for the DPOY and it's looking more and more likely that He'll win it. True maybe not as much as Bron but they can only be one Captain of the Ship. I do however agree with the majorty of your Last paragraph though.
Roland17: I get it but you guys exaggerate this 4th position in December ish. The Lakers were also 2 games away from the 9th spot, 3 games away from 10th and 5 games from 12th. It could have gone either way but the Lakers had enjoyed the easiest run of games in December before playing the Warriors when he went down.
Do you want me to list the teams the Lakers played in December?
Hand on heart, are you going tell me the Lakers don't make the Playoffs last year had Lebron not missed all those games? C'mon Bruh.
Roland17: The embolden has to be the biggest joke if that is their argument because it is absolutely false. They are not contenders for the championship without Bron, but they are certainly a playoff team without him.
Let me remind you again that the Lakers with Bron playing alongside a younger rotation did not make the playoffs last season. The Pelicans are 3 games away from the 8th spot and they are fielding the bulk of the same players Bron rejected last season. So what are we talking about here? How about the Grizzlies? So how is it possible that the Lakers with AD and others can not make the playoffs without Bron.
Championship contenders? Yes but playoffs? Come on na!
Ohhh I do agree with your first paragraph, it's just a point of view I see gathering steam as days go by.
As I told A40, that's a bit unfair. Bron missed a chunk of the season due to injury which affected the Lakers seedings. They were 4th I think before He went down. With regards to the players that got traded, this is not the first and certainly won't be the last time players have taken giant strides in the offseason. This is one of these said cases.
Is this not the same team Munich absolutely played off the pack about a week ago? We might just have underestimated the German's performance that evening.
A40: It's a nonsense argument. They were not a playoff team even with him last year and that's why they added Anthony Davis. All I am seeing is a team over reliant on him and that's how most of his teams were built aside the Heatles
Using that logic he should not have won MVP in 2013 and 2014 because you can't with a straight face tell me a healthy Bosh and Wade led team don't make the playoffs
To be fair they were until He had that injury. AD is one of the Main reasons you can't give Bron the award same way Curry and KD had no shot at winning the Award during their time at the Warriors.
The Lakers heavy reliance on Bron worries me come the playoffs. I don't think it's sustainable tbh.
A40: The focus for Giannis now should be how to translate this to postseason dominance. Harden's story has more or less been told in that aspect, we kinda know who he is. Giannis can at least avoid that rep
Not sure about the second part Bro. Eventhough He averaged 35PPG against KD warriors last season, I think this is the year He'll finally prove all the naysayers wrong. With Westbrook playing the way He is, the Rockets have a variation in their attack the likes we've never seen from them. The days of missing 27 3 in a row are now a thing of the past.
etidy: The question is whether he it should be unanimous or not but trust the LeBron sports network, nick Wright, Shannon and their agenda they want to make it appear like a tight race.
Nah there is no twisting in this case. It's as clear as daylight tbh. Unanimous depends on this team record I think. If they win 70 games, He'll get it. If they don't(which I think is the likely Scenario), He won't get it as I think at least a couple of voters will find a reason to give their First Place vote to another player
A40: Giannis wants all the smoke. This is someone that blocked Embiid 4 times in one game. I won't be suprised if he takes up the challenge.
Ohhh He does. I just think Coach Bud will put Bled on Harden as He has done a pretty good guarding Him recently plus Russ might be the more dangerous player of the two as of this very moment.
benji93: Careful man, you are hitting some tables. They will definitely find an excuse for the loss. They are probably watching the full game right now, checking if Lebron at any point in the game pointed towards his Groin or AD towards his back, hand, head, elbow e.t.c. . Or perhaps they are retaining their energy for the postseason, they are still at the top anyway.
Hehehehe....Nah seriously I love King Bron but I'm just saying it as it is. AD for instance needs to be more aggressive. He is wayyyy to passive for the incredible player that is. I see Him settle for jumpers against 6"3 players way too often which isn't right. He needs to dominate those kind of match up. Also their PG position is still lacking. They need to sort it out urgently. Litte things like that doesn't make me too confident about their championship hopes.
A40: I think Harden is well within his rights to defend himself. What Giannis said was low-key disrespectful
Giannis has the sickest Eurostep in the league so I don't quite agree he has no skill
Exactlt How I feel about it too.
We all know being a MVP calibre player(Nevermind MVP)takes lots of skill so that accusation is simply meh. Likewise Giannis calling an Elite facilitator a Ball Hog is just wrong. It's funny because He absloutely Loves Curry so I think the Bad blood between them goes a lot deeper than we know.
Everyone knows that I am Big Fan of Giannis but bwoi do I love Harden's Clapback. Man you love to see it . Still doesn't make the opinions they have about each other wrong though.
Also Harden says He is the Best Player in the League. Damn Right! That's the attitude I feel every Top5-10 players in the league should have.
