oyewolejos:

Why do u expect to see date in May when we are still in March? Some people piss me off with their way of thinking. The Embassy can't jump March, April and go and open date in May.It's not possible.U people don't know how the appointment thingy works so u just jump into conclusion. As i am typing now there is an open slot for this Thursday so why do u expect May when slot for March is still open?Guy, by April go and book appointment for May. There are some discussion that doesn't worth being discussed here.

By the way, the reason i am looking now is because interview slots get filled fast at US embassies especially the embassies in Nigeria. Some embassies post dates 8-10 weeks in advance. If you understand how the appointment in Lagos/Abuja works please explain better instead of getting edgy unnecessarily. Ill keep checking, thanks for your reply.

nethacker:

u still dey yankee or 9ja?u need not renew your student visa na for as long as u still maintain dat status. all u need is a letter from your int'l student advisor and your current I-20

nethacker, Am in yankee oh, we will be done with school May 14th or 15th. I dont want to renew too but my parents are insisting i must renew. I am tired of arguing with them so ive decided ill just come home to renew. I was initially thinking of Canada but it doesn't seem as safe as previous years. My first renewal was in canada. So nigeria looks like my only option. The appointment system is confusing. I have all my documents ready but i cant find an appointment slot online for may, Any suggestions

does anyone know the procedure for renewing student visa's in Nigeria. I tried the website and there are no available interview date for May in Lagos or Abuja, Its ridiculous. Plus they've changed the forms to DS 160, Nigeria's name is not on the list. Is there a different proceedure, If anyone has extra info, please let me know,

Hmmmm,
First of all you need at least 3 years work experience in a relevant field to go for an MBA which would usually guarantee someone a job after,

not completely true, anyone can get a MBA after your first degree. My friend is about to start her MBA this August, and she does have any experience. Infact, she just graduated from college (May 2009)

biina:

Why do people like to make a mountain of a mole hill?
It is simply an internship opportunity, equivalent to a Nigerian student working as an industrial attache with his/her state's rep in the house of assembly. There are always several interns working for politicians in the US ( e.g. Monica Lewinsky was an intern with the presidency) and Nigerians should not have such a low self esteem to deem it a salient achievement.
I am surprised that one would write an article about this, given that there are likely other Nigerians doing greater things worthy of recognition, than simply securing an internship. It makes me wonder if the subject is related to the journalist.

I agree with you Blina, Goodness gracious, its just a freaking internship, If you work hard and do the right thing you are expected to get one or two internship before the end of your university career. Nigerians do really make a mountain out of nothing.

We should say congratulations but her achievement is not extra-ordinary. Yes, she has done well but if you know responsible students in the US you can find several other examples with the same or even more accomplishments.

This just shows how ignorant some Nigerians can be. The other day, people where shouting about a Nigerian student turning vegetable oil into bio-diesel. The educated ones would know that this is not economically feasible. Yes its an improvement but of what relevance is it.

Mr poster, some Nigerian students get internships with Multinationals, Fortune 500 companies, congress, FBI etc Its not a big deal.
