Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated that his administration will embark on aggressive rural electrification as part of the state's Golden Jubilee celebration.



Speaking at the weekend during the presentation of transformers donated to communities of Rivers East Senatorial District by their Senator, Chief George Sekibo, Governor Wike said his administration is embarking on rural electrification in a bid to revive rural economies.



Represented by his Chief of Staff, Engineer Chukwuemeka Woke, the governor said the rural electrification scheme will empower small and medium sized businesses in rural areas and also create jobs for unemployed youths.



Governor Wike said: "The State Government believes that to stimulate the economies of rural communities, rural electrification is key. Once there is rural electrification, micro-economies will be activated and unemployed youths empowered.



" As part of our Golden Jubilee celebrations, more communities will be linked to our aggressive rural electrification schemes ".



Governor Wike informed that his administration is working with a major independent power producer to ensure uninterrupted power supply to major business and government facilities in the State.

He said: 'The State Government has set up a high-powered committee to interface with a major Independent Power Producer to electrify key areas and facilities in the State.

"This is to ensure that small and medium sized businesses owners have access to electricity to carry out their trades in a financially friendly environment. "



On the reach out to his constituents by Senator George Thompson Sekibo, the Senator Representing Rivers East Senatorial District , Governor Wike appreciated him for being a worthy lawmaker who places the interest of his people above other considerations.



In his remarks, Senator Representing Rivers East Senatorial District, Senator George Thompson Sekibo said the distribution of transformers to benefiting communities was aimed at supporting the rural electrification scheme of the Wike administration.



Senator Sekibo said benefiting communities were selected in liaison with the State Government and major stakeholders from the local government areas that make up the district.

Highlight of the occasion was the distribution of the transformers to the benefiting communities by the Representative of the Governor.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, have said that they do not have any certificate scandal.

They stated this in separate statements they issued on Monday.

Jonathan said it was wrong to have mentioned his name among prominent Nigerians that were said to have been involved in certificate scandal.

The former President and Fayose and others were mentioned among prominent Nigerians that were allegedly involved in certificate scandal by SUNDAY PUNCH.

But a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by Jonathan’s Media Adviser, Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, dismissed the claim as lies, stressing that ex-President had “never been linked to any doubt, scandal or controversy concerning his academic qualifications.”

Eze said that the classmates of the former President in all the schools he attended are still alive.

He said, “We really don’t know where this is coming from, but we wish to remain unambiguous in our assertion that this is obvious falsehood, since the former President has never been linked to any doubt, scandal or controversy concerning his academic qualifications.

“We are not aware of any probe, allegation or litigation relating to his very well known academic qualifications.

“For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to restate that former President Jonathan’s educational records can easily be traced to St. Michael’s Primary School, Oloibiri and Mater Dei High School, lmiringi where he obtained his first school leaving certificate and the General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level respectively, as well as the University of Port Harcourt, where he received his Bachelor of Science, Master’s and doctoral degrees.”

Also, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ekiti State, Mr. Owoseni Ajayi, has said there is no certificate scandal against Fayose.

Ajayi said there was no basis to include the governor among prominent Nigerians with certificate scandals.

The Attorney General said the orchestrated issue of the educational qualification of Fayose was laid to rest over a decade ago in the case of AD v Fayose (CA/IL/EP/GOV/1/2004) “wherein the Court of Appeal dismissed every allegation or insinuation of irregularity in the educational qualifications of Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose.”

He said, “Suffice to say that even at that time, the contention was whether Oluwayose was the same person as Fayose and the Appeal Court found that ‘Peter Ayodele Oluwayose was one and the same person as ‘Peter Ayodele Fayose.’

“It was a mere change of name, which followed the stipulated legal processes and procedures but which mischief makers tried to distort and capitalise upon for selfish political reasons.

“To set the records straight, we emphatically state that His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose, is not in any way involved or associated or connected with any form of ‘certificate scandals’ as the public is being made to believe.

“At no time was the educational attainment of His Excellency called to question.

“The resort to associating Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose with ‘certificate scandals’ is only a last resort by desperate politicians who are threatened by the rising profile and towering political stature of Dr. Peter Ayodele Fayose.”

You must choose to love God. He won’t force you to love him (Deuteronomy 30:20). You can thumb your nose at God and go a totally different way. You can destroy your life if you choose to do that. God still won’t force you to love him because he knows love can’t be forced.

This same principle is true about your relationships: You can choose to love others, but God won’t force you to love anyone.

Even when you do choose to love someone, it doesn’t mean everything will become perfect. It doesn’t even mean that person will accept your love. But you are the only person who can stop you from loving someone else — because love is a choice you make.
