Despite economic recession,many Nigerians are still honest.Mrs Abu Queen Ejura, a teacher with a secondary school in Idah,Kogi state was overpaid to the tune of 130,000 naira. She wrote to the screening staff screening committee to report the overpayment.

This is heartening and highly commendable.

According to reports,ongoing renovation by the new landlord of the facility turn soar as fire razed the entire relaxation resort.The fire outbreak was said to have started when the welder neglected safety procedure while putting together some fabrications in the new center.Fire fighters who saw the alarm came in handy to prevent an escalation of the disaster to neighboring compounds.

'A hippopotamus that has been terrorising residents of the riverine communities of Abaji and Kwali area council has at last been gunned down today at the River Gurara forest I'm Ashara village of Kwali area council by local hunters'.

'God saved my brother, I said I would testify, because if He didn't save himI would have been mourning today and so many of you would be calling me to offer condolences. The story is long but I'm thankful, if you were along the wuye/Berger express way yesterday and saw mad traffic, yeah that was us. People kept saying, 'I sure say the driver die' but our case is different. God saved him and didn't allow me mourn.. Out of the 3/4 cars involved, including the one that caused the accident, nobody died,please tell God thank you from my family & I, we are grateful'

the victim who was at state of coma was butchered with matchet at back and one of the Finger was loss at the tragedy scene.‎

The victim was helped by other harmless farmer which was attracted by the Victim screaming'

Ann and Wilson Mutura whose wedding photos went viral after getting married in a simple ceremony dressed in T-shirts have finally set off for their all- expenses paid honeymoon.


Yesterday January 30, 2017, Bonfire Adventures and Events has redeemed their pledge by sponsoring the couple's honeymoon to an undisclosed four- star hotel, where they will spend five days.

21ST COMMISSIONER OF POLICE IN AKWA IBOM ASSUMES DUTY TODAY
                      
New Commissioner of Police, Donald  N. Awunah has assumed duty in Akwa Ibom State.

Awunah, who wore black and black police uniform, arrived the force headquarters at Ikot Akpan Abia in a black Prado SUV at exactly 9:14 am and inspected the guard of honour mounted by the officers between 9:15 and 9:22am before he proceeded to his office for a brief press session with newsmen.

Donald, from Benue State is the 21st Commissioner of Police in the State and he takes over from the Katsina born Murtala Usman Mani.

Awunah, who is the immediate-past police public Relations Officer, Abuja, is a seasoned and thoroughbred officer. He has served as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Homicide Section of Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) Abuja.

He holds B.A degree in Philosophy from the University of Lagos and M.A in International Relations and Strategic Studies from Benue State University, Makurdi.

The new police boss is a Fellow of Institute of security Studies (fsi), Fellow of Institute of Corporate Administration, and Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

In his maiden press briefing, Don Awunah promised to work to increase the tempo of good relationship between the Police and the public in line with the policy of the Nigeria Police Force.

I don't know how true is this story but according to SpectaScope Nigeria(the page that first shared photos of the daughter of LG chairman killed by Fulani herdsmen in Southern Kaduna),the man pictured below was killed in Agwan Masara forest in Kaduna by Fulani herdsmen on January 26.Below is the narration of the story....

'Seth Auta was killed by Fulani herdsmen on the 26th January 2017 in Agwan Masara forest southern Kaduna.

He died a hero fighting in self defense and for his religion.

ARREST OF NOTORIOUS KIDNAPPERS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF THE KIDNAP FOR RANSOM GANG RESPONSIBLE FOR THE KIDNAP OF FIVE (5) TURKISH SCHOOL CHILDREN AND THREE (3) MEMBERS OF STAFF AND RECOVERY OF ONE MILLION TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND NAIRA RANSOM MONEY

SUSPECTS:

i. Bekewei Agbojule, aka “Prince Yellow,” ‘29 yrs’

ii. Are Philip Joel Kakadu, aka “General Kakadu,” a militant leader

iii. Romeo Council, aka “Raw”

iv. Totki Okoda 34 years: Resides in the creeks behind the School at the Ijaw fishermen settlement (He provided information for the gang about the school and the victims).

EXHIBIT:

i.One Million Two Hundred Thousand Naira cash (# 1,200,000)

The IGP’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT), working in synergy with the Tactical Intelligence Unit (TIU) of the Nigeria Police Force in a joint operation supervised by AIG Kayode Aderanti, AIG Zone 2, Lagos successfully smashed a notorious kidnap gang and arrested four (4) vicious kidnappers who are active members of the gang responsible for the kidnap for ransom of five (5) Turkish School Children and three (3) members of staff of the School in Ogun State on 13th January, 2017.

2. In the course of investigation into the dastardly crime, three suspects namely Are Philip Joel Kakadu aka “General Kakadu” a militant leader; Romeo Council aka “Raw” and Totki Okoda who lives in the fishermen’s community behind the school and provided information about the victims to his gang, were trailed and arrested at different locations in Delta, Ogun and Lagos States respectively, for the criminal roles they played in the commission of the crime.

3. Further investigation and sustained pursuit of the matter by the Intelligence Response Team, led to the arrest of Bekewei Agbojule aka “Prince Yellow”, a principal suspect and one of the key members of the gang on the 25th January, 2017, at about 0700hrs in the morning.

4. The suspect who is an Ijaw from Arogbo town in Ondo State was arrested after he came out of the creeks to enjoy his loot.

5. One million two hundred thousand naira (#1,200,000) his share of the ransom money was recovered from him. The four suspects confessed to the crime, volunteered useful statements to the investigators and are cooperating with the Police. Concerted efforts are being made to arrest the remaining suspects who are at large. All the suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

6.Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris NPM, mni, is using this opportunity to assure every Nigerian that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to work assiduously to prevent crime and eliminate the fear of crime, so as to guarantee adequate security and safety of lives and properties across the country.

7. The Police will equally ensure that those crimes that cannot be prevented are promptly detected and perpetrators prosecuted to serve as deterrent to prospective criminals.

8. He urges the citizenry to be law abiding and continue to support the personnel of the Force deployed in their various localities.

ECOWAS forces have arrived Banjul,Gambia to install new president Adama Barrow. There was no time to brew the tea that was promised by the Chief of Defence Staff of the Gambia Armed Forces, Ousman Badjie as columns of ECOMIG forces quickly stormed into the capital Banjul after the departure of ex-Gambian President Yahya Jammeh. Whilst the ECOMIG forces would have welcomed a nice cup of the local Gambian tea 'Attaya', an imported Chinese 'Gunpowder' Green Tea, they had to settle for push-ups from The Gambian armed forces.

According to AU Peace Website,below are the details of the agreement ECOWAS signed with Yahya Jammeh before he stepped down.The details highly favoured Jammeh.Gambians did not find the agreement funny as many of them took to social media to react.See how Gambians reacted above.

1.    Following the Decision of the Summit of the ECOWAS Authority taken on 17th December 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria, Mediation efforts, including visits to Banjul, were undertaken by the Chair of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, HE President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, the Mediator, HE  President Muhammadu Buhari and Co-Mediator on The Gambia, HE former President John Dramani Mahama, along with HE President Ernest Bai Koroma to mediate on the political impasse with Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh.

2.    Following further mediation efforts by HE President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and HE President Alpha Conde of the Republic of Guinea Conakry with HE Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr. Yahya A. J. J. Jammeh, the former President of the Republic of The Gambia, and in consultation with the Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, the Chairperson of the African Union and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, this declaration is made with the purpose of reaching a peaceful resolution to  the political situation in The Gambia.

3.    ECOWAS, the AU and the UN commend the goodwill and statesmanship of His Excellency former President Jammeh, who with the greater interest of the Gambian people in mind, and in order to preserve the peace, stability and security of The Gambia and maintain its sovereignty, territorial integrity and the dignity of the Gambian people, has decided to facilitate an immediate peaceful and orderly transition process and transfer of power to President Adama Barrow in accordance with the Gambian constitution.

4.    In furtherance of this, ECOWAS, the AU and the UN commit to work with the Government of The Gambia to ensure that it assures and ensures the dignity, respect, security and rights of HE former President Jammeh, as a citizen, a party leader and a former Head of State as provided for and guaranteed by the 1997 Gambian Constitution and other Laws of The Gambia.

5.    Further, ECOWAS, the AU and the UN commit to work with the Government of The Gambia to ensure that it fully guarantees, assures and ensures the dignity, security, safety and rights of former President Jammeh’s immediate family, cabinet members, government officials, Security Officials and party supporters and loyalists.

6.    ECOWAS, the AU and the UN commit to work with the Government of The Gambia to ensure that no legislative measures are taken by it that would be inconsistent with the previous two paragraphs. 
7.    
ECOWAS, the AU and the UN urge the Government of The Gambia to take all necessary measures to assure and ensure that there is no intimidation, harassment and/or witch-hunting of former regime members and supporters, in conformity with the Constitution and other laws of The Gambia.

8.    ECOWAS, the AU and the UN commit to work with the Government of The Gambia to prevent the seizure of assets and properties lawfully belonging to former President Jammeh or his family and those of his Cabinet members, government officials and Party supporters, as guaranteed under the Constitution and other Laws of The Gambia.

9.    In order to avoid any recriminations, ECOWAS, the AU and the UN commit to work with the Government of The Gambia on national reconciliation to cement social, cultural and national cohesion.

10.    ECOWAS, the AU and the UN underscore strongly the important role of the Gambian Defence and Security Forces in the maintenance of peace and stability of The Gambia and commit to work with the Government of The Gambia to ensure that it takes all appropriate measures to support the maintenance of the integrity of the [Defence and] Security Forces and guard against all measures that can create division and a breakdown of order.

11.    ECOWAS, the AU and the UN will work to ensure that host countries that offer “African hospitality” to former President Jammeh and his family do not become undue targets of harassment, intimidation and all other pressures and sanctions.

12.    In order to assist a peaceful and orderly transition and transfer of power and the establishment of a new government, HE former President Jammeh will temporarily leave The Gambia on 21 January 2017, without any prejudice to his rights as a citizen, a former President and a Political Party Leader. 

13.    ECOWAS, the AU and the UN will work with the Government of The Gambia to ensure that former President Jammeh is at liberty to return to The Gambia at any time of his choosing in accordance with international human rights law and his rights as a citizen of the Gambia and a former head of state.

14.    Pursuant to this declaration, ECOWAS will halt any military operations in The Gambia and will continue to pursue peaceful and political resolution of the crisis.
