Are we to say that Jonah was in a whales belle where fire is burning. The answer is No. That would have been his grave if he didn't pray to God to deliver him. That's what that passage mean.

Acts 2:27 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

This is our Lord and Saviour speaking. When He was buried in the tomb, God been a God of Exactness, rose Him from the grave at the third day. Worn hasn't descended on His flesh them hence the statement about God not allowing His flesh to see corruption.
