Career / Re: Big Question... Will You Quit Your Job To Start A Business?? by Chikobi: 10:42am On Dec 08, 2016
Ponder on these pertinent questions before making a final decision:

1. Is the job description somehow related to what you do in your private business?
If yes, keep the job for a while & learn the ropes.

2. How much do you make monthly from your private business in comparison to your day job?
If you earn more from your day job, then keep your day job & at your convenience, come up with a carefully thought out plan on how to grow your private business, perhaps you'll discover you also need to raise more capital to grow your business & your current job will help in that regard.

However, if you earn more from your private business, then the next question is:

2. If you accept the full time job, do you foresee a hindrance to the profitability of your private business?
If you can figure out a way to maintain quality, improve productivity & meet the demands of your clients while maintaining your day job, please keep your day job until you feel it's impossible to manage both. At which point you should have raised a reasonably sized capital to pursue your passion exclusively.

In summary, multiple channels of income provides better financial security for those who can handle it but ultimately the goal is to follow your passion because passion drives knowledge & knowledge will give you the competitive edge needed for sustainable success.

Hi Earthing, howz norway in the midst of this present global eco crunch? Can u reach me on heyrichiee@yahoo.com, I think I might have some valuable information for you. cheers
Travel / Re: Nigerians In Oslo, Norway by Chikobi: 9:03pm On Apr 09, 2009
Hi Earthling, I spent about 3 months in oslo in 2008. Your contact with Nigerians depends on where u live. There are a lot of Nigerians living in the central part of oslo around Storgata but you will have to shine your eyes because they come in different forms if u know what i mean. The resentment you mentioned is partly as a result of the prostitution controversy sometime in 2007 which involved Nigerian girls. But generally speaking, most Norwegians can be very accomodating especially when they know you are actively engaged in something positive like work, business etc.

Politics / Re: Truth From Strange Quarters. Is This A Sign Of Good Omen? by Chikobi: 10:29pm On Mar 06, 2009
Goodmorning Imam! and everyone else that just woke up to this fact. At this stage of our national development, the issue of oneness among religious and ethnic nationalities should be a top priority to any sincere Government. Nigeria is becoming more tribalised and segregated by her ethno/religious differences because of certain mistakes that have been made in the past and in recent times.
Just like the Imam said, nationality and state of residence should be used among other things as part of the  prequalification exercise for eligibility to contest in an election. Furthermore, the issue of power shift should also be scraped with immediate effect because you cant practice true democracy with such a policy and worst still, it incites division. Every appilication form should seize to bear columns that require information such as religion, ethnicity, home town catchment area etc, and indigene forms should neither be requested nor accepted by any group or organisation,- Nigerian nationality and merit should be the koko. Lastly, I know my yoruba friends will not like this but I also think that speaking of other languages apart from english in public institutions should be banned.
Politics / The Gospel Truth On Jos Crisis- The Aftermath by Chikobi: 1:34pm On Dec 04, 2008
History has once again repeated itself in Jos. The only question that naturally comes to my mind is when the next genocide will take place. It is true the crisis has some political undertone but the truth of the matter is that terror was unleashed on innocent citizens not because of their political inclination but because of their ethnicity/religion. Some individuals who lost their lives dont even know the names of the flag bearers contesting for the chairmanship elections. Surprisinly, some religious leaders are of the opinion that the mayhem was more political than ethno-religious. If I may ask, what would have been the fate of those innocent corpers if they were muslims from Zamfara or Bauchi, secondly, who owns the churches and mosques that were razed down?-PDP? The first step towards correcting and preventing this kind of disaster from reoccuring is TRUTH. If our so-called leaders keep painting the picture of a nation free from ethno-religious intolerance, then the perpetrators of this dastard acts will keep having their way. This is not an issue to be swept under the carpet because the truth of the matter is that rapid hatred is growing amongst the two major religious groups in the country.
The government should as a matter of urgency make sure that any suspect who can be proved beyound reasonable doubt of either sponsoring, promoting, inciting or perpetrating acts of religious/ethnic violence is made to face the full wrath of the law; secondly, government should also constitute a conference of all religious leaders in the country and make it clear to them that it can no longer tolerate ethno-religious crisis in the country and the religious leaders on their part should fashion out ways to promote peace among their various sects. If the government can do this with all sincerity, the product of such action will be 1. those that were affected directly or indirectly will take solace in the fact that government is fighting their course and will feel a sense of justice especially when they learn that Alhaji A or Chief B or Iman C or Pastor D has been sentenced to 40years in prison for sponsoring or inciting ethno-religious related violence. 2. it will send a clear signal to the perpetrators that government can no longer tolerate them.
Jos used to be known as the home of peace and tourism until 2001, 7years later it is witnessing another crisis. The hatred amongst individuals whom were affected directly or indirectly will continue to grow. Imagine what will be going on in the mind of a man that lost his wife, 3 teenage kids, his business premises and his house, then imagine the hatred in the mind of his dependants, relatives, friends, religious members and sympathisers all over the nation; also imagine the children that were orphaned from this tragedy, will you expect them to be patriotic or discharge their duties without sentiments when they end up in the military or police later on in future with hatred in mind for those who cut short the lives of his/her dear parents. What about those that lost everything they owned including their businesses? The list is endless and the fact remains that this hatred is growing in geometric progressions and will soon consume the nation.
Politics / Re: Ekiti Govt Accused Of Feeding Kids With 'Juju Cutlery' by Chikobi: 1:05pm On Oct 23, 2008
Folks, one of the merit of education is that it replaces an empty mind with an open one. It gives one the ability to look at issues from various perspectives before making judgement. Rationally speaking, I think the allegations levelled against Ekiti state government should be investigated. Most of us deny the existence and efficacy of real 'juju' in the African context all in the name of civilisation and western borrowed science. Juju in government is not new in this part of the globe. I remember vividly the confessions made during the Oputa panel about buried human skulls at different spots within the federal capital territory during the Abacha junta, I also remember the otokoto incidence and need I mention Okija shrine? The earlier we come to terms with the immediate happenings in our society, the better for us. Majority of our leaders crave for more money and power and care less about the welfare of their followers therefore, it is not strange to see them seek to gain their selfish interest through diabolical means. For those of you who dont believe in juju, I've witnessed the story of a wife who couldn't conceive for 15 long years and guess what? After much fasting and prayers without ceasing, her step mum confessed she used diabolical means to prevent her from doing so and months later she conceived and gave birth to a bouncing baby girl. How can u explain that? It is true that some of these juju are fake or ineffective but just like science, it doest have answers or solutions to all problems. I bet u that if westerners were the occupants of Africa, i can only imagine the volumes of documentations that would have resulted from research on this 'juju' thing. Infact, they would have been harnessing the benefits from the research now. It is common sense to recognise the existence of evil if we believe in the existence of good. It is also understandable for a westerner to deny the existence of juju but foolish for an African to do so, because I think we should base our judgement on the day to day activities or happenings in our respective immediate society. Not too long ago, former aviation minister, Fani Kayode(a highly educated gentleman) cited the witchcraft factor as responsible for the disasters we've witnessed in our aviation sector. Nobody gave his claims credence eventhough I thought he should have been interrogated and his claims investigated.
Bross and sisis, lets keep an open mind to these issues because anything is possible. Finally, like i said earlier Ekiti state government should be investigated and if found innocent-exonerated otherwise-impeach

Religion / Re: I Don't Feel Like Going To Church: What's Wrong? by Chikobi: 4:44pm On Jul 09, 2008
Gamine and co-believers in her ideology, please do not be deceived! "the worst kind of deception is self deceit". You can neither remain faithful as a christian nor grow spiritually without any form of fellowship with other believers in the word. The bible made it clear that:
No 1: without FAITH it is impossible to please God.
No 2: FAITH comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.
Now tell me, where else will you hear this word and grow in FAITH to please the Almighty if not in churches and other christian gatherings. My advise: Look for a bible believing church where God and only God is worshipped in spirit and in truth, associate yourself with them by attending their sunday services + or - other week day fellowships depending on your weekly schedule, See it as a compulsory routine for your growth in faith so that you can please our God whom has done so much for us. Think about it!

Kayode, are you willing to stake your marriage life for a job? Don't allow your desperation for a job lead you into jeopardy. As a young man of 27 with a good degree, I see no reason why you should be this desperate. What you need is patience while being resilient and determined in your job pursuits. Believe me, u have a very promising future with your qualification. Just be patient and prayerful.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: An Intelligent Dude In Search For A Job! by Chikobi: 3:35pm On Jun 26, 2008
Hi, it's a pity that your cousin has not been able to secure a job yet despite his proficiency in gmat type questions. Unfortunately, u need more than intelligence to secure a good job in most organisations. It's obvious that there's something he's not getting right in all the interviews he has attended so far. Interviews are of utmost importance to organisations because it gives them an avenue to meet the prospecting employee one on one and thereby evaluate his/her other qualities that will be profitable for their organisation. Dressing, composure and communication skills are among other things they look out for. He needs to carry out a thorough research on how to prepare and attend interviews. The moment he does that, his job search will be short lived-God's willing.
