Governor Ortom of Benue state has presented Toyota Prado and Hilux pick cars to each of six first class chiefs in Benue state.He presented the cars to them after a meeting with the royal fathers in Tivland at the New Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House, in Makurdi for the installation of the new Tor Tiv.

He said that in spite of the economic challenges, it was imperative that government had to meet its responsibility of providing mobility for the chiefs to enable them discharge their duties which included enhanced security.

A former military governor of old Anambra and Benue States, General Atom Kpera, retired, was  chosen as chairman, Tor Tiv  for the 5th coronation Committee while the Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Titus Zam, is to serve as Secretary.

Rotimi Jacobs (SAN), the Federal Government’s Chief Prosecutor in the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) trial against Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, today begged the court to re-cross-examine the government’s primary witness, Michael Wetkas, an operative of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Jacobs, in his comments, stated that Wetkas had made some ambiguous statements regarding bank transfers and ownership of the properties, No. 15A and B, MacDonald Street, Ikoyi, Lagos State.

Commenting on Jacobs request, Barrister Atedze Agwaza, told Jacob that his request could be seen as an attempt to make the witness alter his initial statement, urging him to consider using other prosecution witnesses to make his point.

In a similar regard, Justice Dan Ladi Umar, the Chairman of the CCT, alleged that Jacobs request to cross-examine the witness could lead to the witness changing his initial statement, wherein he (Wetkas) stated that he was unsure whether the bank transfers in question included service charges, and that during the course of his investigation of the properties in Ikoyi, he never confirmed if No. 15A and 15B Macdonald street, were one property, or two.

After much back-and-forth, the counsels to the Senate President, acquiesced to Jacobs demand for re-examination, on the condition that they would be given the opportunity to cross-examine the witness after the prosecution.

CCT Chairman refused request by lead prosecutor for DAY to DAY trial saying tge court has other matters to attend to as case was adjourned till Tuesday 17th

'A girl believed to be in her early 20s only identify as princess was found dead on Friday January 6, 2017 ,in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

The body was discovered Friday morning by community dwellers.
Police in Bassa are investigating what led to her death. Unconfirmed information says that princess went missing three days before being found dead on Friday morning by community dwellers.
Observation proves that no part was taken from the body but was tied and beaten due to the brouses on the body.

People speculated that princess was always found in the night clubs.
Others alleged that princess was in the harbit of selling herself for money.

Police in Bassa are still investigating what led to her death'

OHAKIM DONATES CAR, CASH TO LATE AIDE'S WIDOW

Former governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, was a guest at the family house of his late special Adviser (special Duties), Pini Onyegbaduo at Obizi in Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government Area of the state on Monday , where he donated a brand new Kia ceratto car, cheque and food stuff to the widow.

Handing over the key and papers and other gifts to the widow, Obiagali, Ohakim said that it was in fulfillment of his philosophy of never to lose any of his friends .

He said his late aide contributed immensely to the growth of the state and it was imperative that friends like him he left behind would have to look after his family.

Ohakim said  it was difficult for the young woman to live with the reality of the loss of her husband , adding that the gifts would help her and the family to cushion the effects of the demise of his late aide.

According to him, Onyegbaduo, died in 2012 without his entitlements paid by the Imo state government, adding that his late aide was a fire brand who worked for the betterment of the state.

Ohakim, was accompanied by some of his close friends, including his younger brother, Emma Ohakim to the visit.Prayers were offered for the family.

The commander 23 brigade, Brig Gen Benson A Akinroluyo celebrated the new year with heroic troops in Gombi, Hong and Garkida all in Adamawa State.

While interacting with the troops the commander said the celebration is to rejoice with them in the front line to make them feel at home.

He said with the fall of sambisa there is need for troops to be vigilant and intensify search at various check point  to apprehend any fleeing bokoharam.

He urged  troops to be alert and work hand in hand with civilian join Task Force in information sharing to aid their operation.

True to his words and in keeping to his promise to sanitize the pension system in the state,His Excellency Rocha's Okorocha"HERO" has released cheque to the respective State Development Council SDC-Cordinators at the 305 wards in the state.

Barrister Chinyere Uwandu,Chairman ,Pensions Commission ,who performed the exercise on behalf of the Governor explained that all pensioners of the state are to receive their cheques today unfailingly.

Recall, a cross section of the media has been awashed with unverifiable and misconstrued information on the Governor's good intentions to clear all backlogs of pensions in the start preparatory to new pension regime which commences January 2017.

Today's exercise exposes the ineffectiveness,corruption and lackadaisical attitude of previous administrations in the state on pension matters which led to the huge accumulations of unpaid pensions.

The political will to clear over fourty years of pension arrears by Governor Rochas Okorocha is indeed a remarkable Rescue Missionary Work.

NB:For you to get the cheque,you have to forfeit 60% of what you are meant to earn.Majority of the pensioners are paid only 40% of their pension.They had to sign agreement with the state government before they receive the cheque.Many of them did not sign.They have taken Governor Okorocha to court for what they deem as illegal and unconstitutional.
