I think Amaechi is being unreasonable to pick a fight with the president....note that the president has been calm and quiet on it yet Amaechi and his group keeps making claims and counter claims. He sees every odd as caused by the president and knowing people love criticizing the president sells it to us and everybody buys it. He is simply buying sympathy and making himself more popular ahead of 2015. After this purported intimidation by president he is going to come out with his achievements as a governor "whom the president fought" and yet made success. This will endear him to people and thus a buy for 2015.

Crisis rocks Rivers Assembly; Speaker impeached

There was a fight at the Rivers State House of Assembly this morning when hoodlums and some members attacked principal officers of the House, with an assortment of weapons.

Five lawmakers alleged to be anti-Amaechi impeached the Speaker, Otelemaba Amachree and replaced him with Evans Bipi.

Some lawmakers were said to be badly injured and have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Details later.

Obi remains the best Governor Anambra. Prudent in spending astute in decisions. In his administration he made sure he built roads to connect all the village. Now I need u to visit upper iweka for yourself. I promise u, u will marvel at the work going on there.
imagine other rulers bowing out like Obi, then the youths will actually become the leaders of tomorrow. Not moving from governor to minister then to senator and all that. This is a great lesson Obi is teaching our rulers....yes rulers not leaders.

Former Head of State and presidential candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, in 2011 elections, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday declared that he would contest the 2015 presidential election.

He promised not to disappoint Nigerians if voted him as president.

Buhari said he would embark on the desired transformation, stressing that the elections of 2003, 2007 and 2011 lacked fairness “as people’s votes were not allowed to count.”

He noted that this was responsible for lack of meaningful development in the country.

Buhari, therefore, urged the electorate to ensure that their votes count in the elections and engage in grassroots mobilisation for credible persons to be voted into positions of leadership.

The ex-head of state, who stated this yesterday during the North-West Zonal CPC Contact and Mobilisation Committee meeting in Kaduna, said that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had almost destroyed the entire system in the country.

He stressed that urgent actions were needed to put the country back on the right track to bring dividends of democracy to the people.

Buhari, who is also the Chairman of the CPC Board of Trustees, BoT, urged the party faithful and Nigerians to support the All Progressives Congress, APC, a coalition of political parties determined to wrestle power from the PDP.

“In 2015, if given the mandate, I will uphold your trust,” he added.

Earlier, the National Coordinator of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee, Senator Solomon Ewuga, said the North-West meeting was aimed at sensitising party members to the planned merger and appoint committee members for the zone.

He said that the Kaduna State CPC governorship candidate in 2011 elections, Alhaji Haruna Sa’eed, would be the North-West Zonal Chairman of the Contact and Mobilisation Committee, while the state chairman, Ahmadu Yaro Coca-Cola is the State Coordinator.

Ewuga, however, urged the party members to ensure that the merger talks became a reality.

The leader of the radical Islamist group Boko Haram has rejected the idea of any potential amnesty deal, which the country's presidency said it would study in a bid to curb a bloody insurgency, in a statement obtained by AFP Thursday.



Abubakar Shekau, the purported head of Boko Haram who has been designated a global terrorist by the United States, claimed his group had "not committed any wrong to deserve amnesty."

"Surprisingly, the Nigerian government is talking about granting us amnesty. What wrong have we done? On the contrary, it is we that should grant you pardon," he said, listing what he described as the state's "atrocities" against Muslims.

The Hausa language audio recording was distributed by email in a manner consistent with previous Boko Haram messages, and the voice was similar to that of previous Shekau statements.

President Goodluck Jonathan last week formed a panel to look at the possibility of offering an amnesty deal to the Islamists, whose insurgency has left more than 3,000 people dead since 2009, including killings by the security services.

Jonathan has come under intense pressure over the issue, with politicians from the country's violence-torn north as well as Nigeria's highest Muslim spiritual figure, the Sultan of Sokoto, calling for amnesty.

The panel, reportedly to be composed of national security officials, northern leaders and others, is due to report later this month.

The move has been widely debated in Nigerian media in recent days.

Boko Haram has claimed to be fighting for an Islamic state in Africa's most populous nation and largest oil producer.

The group also claimed the February 19 kidnapping of a French family of seven over the border in Cameroon. Their whereabouts remain unknown.

Boko Haram's demands however have repeatedly shifted and the group is believed to include various factions in addition to imitators.

Nigeria offered an amnesty to militants in the southern oil-producing Niger Delta region in 2009, which has been credited with greatly reducing unrest there, though oil theft has since flourished.

Violence blamed on Boko Haram has been concentrated in the mostly Muslim north.

Christian and Muslim civilians, the security services and other symbols of authority have been among the group's victims.

The situation that transpired in Imo State is a clear case of what we are talking about! A contractor hired by IMO state was asked why he hadn't finished his work, his excuse in front of IMO State Assembly was that he used 483 million out of the 100% contract money paid him to bribe the deputy governor for more contracts..my questions are
1. Why was a self confessed bribe giver allowed to walk free..it's a federal offense ..so we're is EFCC
2. What is our business if he decides to use money paid him to bribe someone
3. So now the Deputy Governor have been impeached, where is the money belonging to IMO State people
4. When will the contractor complete the roads for which IMO State have paid him complete.
5. The contractor said he was over paid by 200 million..how does one get over paid by 200 million not even 200 thousand
6. Have such a person been banned from further contract in IMO State.

We need answers...this money they are spending and over paying like Monopoly money can be used for the greater good of the good people of Imo State...
