I think APC will b more into talking and aggression, pointing accusing fingers than doing the right thing |
http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=117157:inec-notified-of-apc-merger-only-five-days-ago-says-jega&catid=1:national&Itemid=559 CHAIRMAN of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Attahiru Jega, Saturday, said the Commission only got official notification of the merger intention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) five days ago. It also put to rest speculations that the Commission had registered a group with the acronym, APC, to frustrate major opposition groups in the country. Jega also turned down the idea of using electronic voting for the 2015 elections, saying it was against the spirit and letter of the Constitution. Speaking on a live audience participation Radio Nigeria Hausa programme, Hanu Dayawa, the INEC boss said that, despite the controversy trailing the purported registration of another APC, the Commission was yet to register any new party. He added that what the Commission was doing at the moment is to screen those that approached it. Prof. Jega said: “This issue has generated controversy in the past few weeks. Firstly, the truth is that no political party wrote to notify us that it is planning to merge with some other political parties until the past five days or so. “Therefore, it is not true that we were notified. The issue became serious when one group came out to seek for registration; and I guess that was what made the merging parties write and notify us. But that is not the issue. The main issue is that there are guidelines for registered political parties, who want to merge to become a new party. There are also guidelines for individuals or groups who want to form a political party for registration. “The guidelines for registering new political parties are different from that of registered political parties who want to merge. For registered political parties who want to merge, they must have agreed to merge and each of them must hold a convention and agree to withdraw their registration as a political party in order to become part of the new party to be formed through the merger. “After their conventions, they are expected to write and request INEC to withdraw their former registration and say they want to join a new party. In spite of all the controversies, none of these political parties who want to merge has held their convention. “We only read in the newspapers that they have the intension of merging and nobody wrote us until about five or six days ago. If anybody wants to register a political party, you are expected to tell INEC of your intention by saying that you want to register a party with so and so name and you want to know the procedure for doing so. “Only one group came. The group asked one lawyer to write INEC saying they want to form a political party with a particular name and they want to know the rules and procedures for registration as a political party. “If these other groups had done so, we would have replied them and tell them the rules and the procedures they are supposed to follow to be registered. So, the issue of whether we have collected the name of this other group and whether we have agreed to register them does not even arise because we just replied to their letter by telling them the procedure. “While this was going on, some people started making noise saying that they wanted to merge with so, so name. Some of them were even saying that we have registered the other group with that name. It is not done like that. “People are just making noise over the name which is in the market while we have not even gotten to that stage. While all these noise were going on, another group came up seeking for registration with the same name. “We have rules and guidelines for all this and we are determined to follow the rules to avoid any confusion. But we have not reached a stage where we can say a group has been registered with so, so name. So all these noise is just part of our politics in Nigeria. “After we explained these to them, they wrote back insisting that they followed the guideline. But we have not screened them yet, because the procedures are step by step. “Except INEC comes out to announce that it has registered so and so party, all the bickering is unnecessary. “We have written to them that a group has come to seek registration with that name and if they want us to look at their application, they will have to look for another name. “If you want to register a company, before the company is registered, you will have to apply for a name which the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) will take some time to search. We don’t operate like this in INEC, but because of this controversy, we have learnt a lesson. I think, at the end of the day, we will also adopt the same system to avoid this problem. “We must operate according to the rules and we will work with anybody who fulfills the provisions of the law. Somebody first came with the name and we have explained that we are already screening the person who first came with the name. “So, if you want your application to be considered, go and change your name because it is not possible to register three groups with the same name. We have not even reached the stage of registering any group. When we get to that stage, we will take the appropriate decisions”. |
President Gej administration has been characterized by killings from terrorist group BH. This has caused so much pain to families and well meaning Nigerians. How long should we keep blaming him? He has taken positive steps to curb this menace and they include: 1 replacing force heads 2 motivating men in force 3 making funds available to the force 4. Condemning the act,and lot more. what more do we expect from him so we can believe he has tried? do u think Governors and indigenes of those restive states have a part to play? why den call only GeJ? |
Humans! From what was posted by op I read.... helping to reduce poverty preserving or maintaining nature then peace. why are u intentionally closing Ur eyes to others and see wrong in dialogue? DO We need peace in our today's world? If NO den u are devil's advocate and if yes, how do we achieve peace? the pope said dialogue. What is wrong with that? Has dialogue not been affirmed as the best way to resolution? Why abuse education and profess stupidity to achieve mischievous opinions? I support the dialogue. |
note these |
I need some1 to accuse Lagos state govt and ACN of corruption. If it Was Fg that is what would hav taken over this page. if not corruption hw come information are hoarded and fake documents given? corruption is everywhere stop blaming GEJ always |
Happy to read all these. Would i be right if i say our churches do not preach charity enough? As compared to the emphasis on tithe? Now that we know charity is as important as tithe |
I have observed so much emphasis about payment of tithe and little or nothing said about being charitable (giving to others). I ask which helps our salvation, TITHE OR CHARITY? Mathew25:31-46 tells us how we shall be jugded. To the charitable @ the right he shall say go into the kingdom and the non charitable @ the left he shall say go to everlasting fire. FOR WHATSOEVER U DO TO THE LEAST OF MY BROTHERS U DID TO ME. please prove to me that we are not misled by having emphasis on tithe and nothing on charity. IF U PAY TITHE HAVE U SETTLED GOD? OR SHOULD U STILL GIVE ALMS? WHAT PERCENT SHOULD ALMS BE? CAN I USE THE 10% FOR BOTH ALMS AND TITHE ![]() ? |
I support the merger cos its good for democracy. All that the gov of Niger said too is true. I want Nigerians not to b carried away ACN had such noise wen it broke off Pdp so its nt new. Talking abt the manifesto i dint see >agriculture....Gej govt has affected this area positively (effective fertilizer distribution) >roads and transport....Gej brought back our trains, dualizing federal roads, improving avation sector. >security....now when they assum office they will shield their sword so there will b no more terror. To me GEJ is the BEST PRESIDENT NIGERIA HAS HAD....listening....intelligent.....seek best hands to work with. Objs action will cost govt 36billion naira hope u knw....pls let us beg GEJ to come back 2015 and finish his work |
Evry1 is on bed sleeping....its been a long day |
An average Nigerian like most of the kids in this forum lack admitance and that is why real progress seem to elude us. These achievements are verifiable why cant some1 give this man credit. Gej is one president who declared state of emergency on federal roads and is doing well.....have u passed through lokoja-abuja road?.......onithsa~enugu road?.....rivers~akwa ibom road? BEnin~ore? To mention a few. what about the refurbishment of airports and efforts to boost air travel by giving incentives to operators? what about relatively transparent elections? Gej is the only Nigerian President who listens to the masses and often put himself in the shoe of his led. Recently he was @ the police college to find out things as reported by channel....if we are sincere we would know Jonathan means well for Nigeria and if other leaders acted like him...Nigeria wouldnt be here today.. Let us support progress. thanks op |
He built the Anambra state teaching hospital awka...go to Igbariam campus of Ansu and see things ursef. he might nt have built roads in towns but he has built roads to ensure that all communities in Anambra have access. Anambra never had public buildings but hire and pay landlords....go and find out, his excellency has built most of the important public building so the govt doesnt need to pay rents anymore. I only blame him for not working in towns like Onitsha and nnewi as he ought to so as to get more praises. But believe me Peter Obi is trying. |
If and only if u can be truthful u would atest to the fact that power (PHCN/NEPA) has improved. I think FG deserve some credit. It has been delivering on her promises. i travel by road and i can tell u most federal roads are been worked on....eastwest road....lokoja abuja road.....onitsha enugu road....ibadan lagos and so many others. another point is the relative fariness and transparency in election. Theses few points are major deliveries that if encouraged will give us the Nigeria of our dream that hausa and yoruba leaders never gave us. long live GEJ |
When prof Soludo left dollar was #138 ever since Sanusi enterd naira has continously hovered between 162 and 158..... @Soludo's time banks recruited so many and in sanusi time banks have sacked thousands and are still sacking....Sanusi is clueless. |

See how u all appreciate the pix. imagine it was that of our President..I bet u would have read more abuse than goodwill. This is what i call pschyological enslavement...learn to love your own as u love that of others. |
This is not a new question..Jesus was asked same....read...Mathew 12:38 down to find ur answer. |
An average girl of 18 has a bf so lets say every girl above 18 has a guy and a man who cheats does it with a girl above 18. the question is, the girl involved, has she cheated too? If so why blame only men? 2...men cheat because man is polygamous by nature. Back in the days a man would feel free to many as many ladies as he admired. |
On day they are going to be caught and there house demolished then some1 here will say IT IS JUNGLE JUSTICE....BABARIC AND UNCIVIL..,? |
Just asking....IS IT LOGICAL THAT IGBOS/CHRISTIANS WILL BOMB AND BOKOHARAM CLAIM RESPONSIBILITY? .....i support retaliation (bombing of islam worship centers) |
Am nigerian and romantic. Why not check me out....08173546854 |
The judiciary is the only problem we have in Nigeria when it comes to fighting crime and corruption. u recall Ibori's case? Our Judiciary vindicated him and he pleaded guilty in UK... do u knw how long it takes our judiciary to settle cases? Go to courts and see cases of over 5years. the police...efcc and others make arrests everyday and our judiciary keep adjourning cases everyday and in the end justice is not served. as the governor it is his paramount obligation to protect his ppl and if this is a way towards achieving it? Am Ok with it. thank u my governor. |
I love this...having opportunity to share your experience....am currently serving in Tuatua community secondary school in a village called Korokoro. the local govt pays their light bill and for 3months now the local govt has not paid so no light. its the only community where i have seen children prefer farm to school....i once asked them which was more important and the all chorused FARM! Saying if there is no farm then no food.....#i no fit laff#. they are peacful and poligamous even as teens/singles. am having fun clapping always to wade sunflies. ow i dint mention....this ppl love dance and can dance and forget they are in a burial...burial is like a parri....dey seem to pray for one everyday..hahahahaha |
More idioc.y from you as if you haven't goofed enough. Where is Nigeria on TI's ranking? No 143 in a list of 178, and it's something to rejoice about?2010index rating for Nigeria was 2.4, which was the same ad 2011.Where is the improvement? We had an index of 2.7 in 2009.How then can you say there has been an improvement over the two year period in view? Do you just talk for the sake of defending your silly President? http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corruption_Perceptions_Index#s intelligent fellow.....is it the president who will prosecute the defaulters in the subsidy probe? who is to prosecute those involved in pension scam?...President or Judiciary? What powers does the President have judiciary?.....Please Be REASONABLE AND PATRIOTIC.....STOP INSULTING OUR PRESIDENT |
@Bodejohn.....if i may ask......WHAT ARE THE NEW PROBLEMS PRESIDENT JONATHAN HAS CREATED? |
If and only if we learn to be patriotic will our country be great...mockery and derogatory statements against our leaders are HIGH LEVEL OF UNPATRIOTISM. why shld the president b blamed for all wrongs? Those performing the act arent they Nigerians or r u suggesting the President sent them to commit such? Now you/ ur father or whoever steals ppls pension and u heap it on the president.. farouk collects bribe u heap it on him....is it the president who handle such or judiciary? most of u speaking against our president cant even manage their homes yet they abuse some1 who is trying to manage over 150million ppl of different physic.... BE PATRIOTIC AND WARN UR FAMILY MEMBERS TOO TO BE AND THE PRESIDENT WILL FIND IT EASIER TO WORK......CHARLES~PAUL |
I Love Exxonmobil and Chevron...pls hw do i apply for available vacancies? |
