Whatever you see OUK do today is Abia state money. HE milked Abia dry, while Abians were sleeping. He has not imparted on any life in the state throughout his tenure, only his stooges benefit. |
Aba is the true commercial hub in sub-Saharan Africa. Enyimba city. The delight of the south east. |

Orji to Relocate 78-year Umuahia Market Emmanuel Ugwu with agency report Abia State Governor, Chief Theodore Orji has declared that he was set to break a 78-year old jinx by relocating the Umuahia Main Market to a more spacious and conducive area. The relocation of the market, the governor said was to allow for the expansion and beautification of Umuahia, the state capital. He gave the assurance after inspecting the progress of work on the new market located at Ubani Ibeku area of the capital saying that the September 30 deadline for the relocation was still on course. He said the traders “are very enthusiastic” about the change. “It is very feasible,” adding that the plan to relocate the main market started in 1935 during the colonial era but that no government had summoned the political will to effect the relocation due to the hostility of the traders each time the relocation was contemplated. However, Orji said that he made an electoral promise to relocate the market and has backed his promise with the needed political will hence the construction of the new market, comprising over 7, 000 lock up shops. “I’m sure the people will be better for it. You will see the beauty of a state capital, Orji said, adding: “I’ll feel fulfilled once they (traders) move into this place”. The governor said that no effort has been spared to make the condition in the modern Umuahia market very good for traders, as provisions were made for adequate water supply, fire station, banks, hospital, school, among other amenities. He also said that a lot of concessions have been made to the traders hence “they have no reason to complain” as the cost of acquiring a shop has been reduced. Orji explained that payment for the allocation form has been reduced to N20,000, while allocation fee was pegged at N100, 000. After the relocation each trader would be required to pay N300, 000, which would be spread over four years, before they could take full ownership of their shops. He said new traders, who did not have shops in the old market would pay N100,000 higher. “What government has in mind is not to make money. Money would come to government in the long run,” he said. Meanwhile, the traders have said they were recording cases of stealing and shop breaking at Umuahia main market, according to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Correspondent who monitored situation at the market on Friday gathered that because of the nearness of the relocation date, traders refused to pay the monthly security fee. NAN learnt that the situation forced the security outfit securing the market to withdraw their services. When contacted, the Chairman of Umuahia Main Market Amalgamated Traders Association (UMATS), Mr. Onyebuchi Ejidike, confirmed the reports of stealing at the market. “Some traders actually reported that their goods were stolen as some whose shops were located along the railway line pulled-out their doors while packing out. “Because of these rampant movements of traders out of the market, no one could predict what goes on in the market at night,” he said. A trader who gave her name as Monica Mba told NAN that she lost three bags of stock fish worth more than N500, 000 following the breaking of her shop by criminals the previous night. Another trader Onwuka Ikoh, who sold beverages said, “Criminals equally broke into my shop and carted undisclosed amount of goods.” NAN recalled that Abia state government had fixed Sept.30, as the deadline for traders at Umuahia main market to relocate to Ubani-Ibeku. This is in spite of the delay in the allocation of shops to prospective owner at the new market. Ubani Ibeku is a community sharing boundary with Uzuakoli in Bende Local Government Area and it is about 10 kilometres to Umuahia. Traders at Umuahia main market have been divided over their relocation to Ubani-Ibeku as some prefer to relocate to Onuimo, another market located in Obowo, a boundary community between Imo and Abia.

Fighting Poverty: A set of grinding machines, sowing machine ,hair dryers being given out to empower the residents With pervasive poverty, a novel idea to help the indigent of society work together through savings groups and a support programme is helping to get lives back on track in Abia State, writes Charles Ajunwa “What we are doing in Abia is to make sure that people prosper. That is why I keep moving around the state mobilising people to engage in income generating activities in order to promote their standards of living,” said Mrs. Mercy Orji the First Lady of Abia State. “Since I realised this innate gift from my creator, I have never stopped giving especially to the less-privileged in the society. This is what God wants me to do, and I will continue to do it for the rest of my life.” Like elsewhere, families still struggle to buy school supplies for their children in Abia State, but the wife of the governor, Mrs. Orji is taking to heart the challenge faced by the poor. On a recent Saturday, Hannah-May Foundation, a charity managed by Orji distributed various empowerment items to the indigents and unemployed in the state. A total of 850 beneficiaries drawn from the 17 local government areas of the state got various items of empowerment from the organisation at a ceremony that took place in Umuahia Township Stadium. The items include sewing machines, generating sets, barbing kits, hair dryers, grinding machines, desktop computers, weaving machines and vulcanising machines. Mrs. Orji who personally supervised the distribution of the various empowerment items, urged the beneficiaries to utilise them to break away from poverty An elated Mrs. Orji told the beneficiaries who were singing and dancing that the items, if properly managed would make them become self-reliant. She had also in the recent past distributed wheel chairs, artificial limbs, foodstuffs and even built and furnished homes for some indigent men and women who have nobody to support them. The philanthropic work embarked upon by her NGO, according to Mrs. Orji is in line with the policy thrust of Governor Theodore Orji’s government. According to her, the multiplier effects of such philanthropic gestures will help many indigent people in the society to become self-reliant in addition to creating employments for others. The Abia First Lady who is never tired of assisting the less-privileged had earlier distributed gift items like bags of rice, salt, beans, treated mosquito nets, cartons of beverages, toiletries, cosmetics, detergent among others to 34 less-privileged homes in the state. The beneficiaries include, Uzuakoli Motherless Babies Home, Ahieke Ndume, Agape Orphanage, Nigeria Prisons, Umuahia, and School of the Blind in Afara Umuahia. Apart from giving out free gifts to the less-privileged, Mrs. Orji facilitated the construction of a skill acquisition centre in the state capital to enable the youths and women to be trained in various trades. And now that centre is a beehive of activities and a place of fulfillment for many who are getting their lives back on the track. “I believe the modern skill acquisition centre located at the New Umuahia Layout, is a dream come through. During my husband’s electioneering campaigns across the state, I promised the women and youths that I will build a befitting skill acquisition centre and today, I am glad that the whole idea has been realised. That beautiful dream has turned into fruition. I give God Almighty the glory for enabling me to realise this project, which is my pet project for the state. Of course, this was made possible through the support of my darling and caring husband, Governor Theodore A. Orji,” she said. She added: “Honestly, the whole thing was influenced by my personal experience in life. I want to use this opportunity to specially thank my husband for always being there for me. I was able to realise this today through his active support both morally and financially. We have about 10 trades offered at the skill acquisition centre namely--Information Technology, fashion designing and interior decoration, shoe making, electrical, catering and home management, electronic and radio repairs, plumbing, wielding as well as GSM repairs.” Orji said that Abia youths would continue to enjoy the services of the centre, long after she leaves office because “we have capable hands that run the centre after I must have left office. For example, the permanent secretary in Women Affairs and Social Development, which is affiliated to my office, is a no-nonsense woman. When I leave office the next person that will come in will not allow the project to collapse because the whole programme is targeted at the youths, men and women. “I will like to be remembered for good when I go out from here because of the good work I have done in Abia State. I want to leave a legacy so that I will be remembered just like my husband who is leaving behind very good legacy in the state.”

THE NEW T A ORJI AND THE CONFUSED ROCHAS. Theopholus Ahamefula Orji is the current Governor of Abia state in South east Nigeria Igbo land . A state that owns the most Industrial city in Nigeria called Aba . The story of his journey to govt house Umuahia is remarkable because he won his election while in detention by the SS ( Secret service ) in 2007 under PPA party (Progressive peoples Alliance ) However ,he fell out of favor with his mentor the billonier Orji Uzo Kalu of Slok group .Who was the chairman of his party at the time . The soar relationship made him cross carpet to another party PDP (Peoples democratic party ) to continue his mandate . He spent more time during his first tenure having squabbles with his mentor which greatly affected his performance in office as the governor . This huge failure in his first tenure he acknowleged during an economic summit which he organised in 2010 and in attendance was the beautiful Igbo Amazon Goddess the legendary Ngozi Okonjo Iweala , current Minister of Finance Under the Jonathan Admin . And former World bank vice president . Who during that told the governor point blank that he has failed the state and particularly the Industrial city of Aba . The governor himself accepted the failure card passed on him and even told the audience that he has failed but asked for a second chance to put it right. That act of humility touched me and I prayed the people of the state would grant him his wish . This wish he got when he was re elected in the 2011 election . Since then all has been good news . Where he has done well was listening to the advice Ngozi Okonjo gave him to transform Aba . Aba today is looking very good and has continue to attract big business to it . Orji is currently Rehabilitating over 33 roads in Aba and currently very important roads in Aba has been completed such as Azikiwe ,Milverton ,Aba Obikabia phase 1 , Brass/ Faulks , George , Constitution Crescent Ngwa Road etc. Aba which often is taged the first dirty city in Nigeria is no more having such tag as the recent report by Vanguard Newspaper September 26 2013 titled Aba: when a dirt prone city begins to wear a clean look , reported . Aba has seen the surge in investment since Geometry power ltd began to build an independent power in 2007 . Already Aba power has improved recently and by October she would be the first city to witness 24/7 power supply in Nigeria . Fidelity bank is currently financing the biggest Can Manufacturing company in Subsahara Africa In Aba and Guaranty Trust bank has invested 30b naira on Geometric power to expand her power supply capacity . All Thanks to a governor who was humble to admit his failing but never gave up . Compare him with the noise making govt of imo state who promises imo New York but delivers Oshodi . Wait for part two on this. article focus on the confused imo governor Rochas .

Timber market was situated at heart of the town ,it causes bad traffic hold up,become an eye sore for a state capital. The siting of such market should be out of the heart of Town ,so that it will drag along developement and decongest the Town, that way development will spread far and wide .People will start buying off lands closer to the market for expansion, people will feel better going to a spacious place to offload logs of woods, the saw dust and splinters will no longer fly all around the residential houses. The fear of fire out break which will be aided greatly by the Timber logs and saw dust will be reduced. Access road for fire trucks to the place will be in place for eventuality. Having that in mind ,the newly awaken Government in ABIA STATE decided to relocate the Timber sellers ,then turn the vacated venue into residential building for low income earners. The new ULTRA MODERN INDUSTRIAL MARKET has over 4,000 Lock up shops and over 3000 open shops ,with access roads,Stand by fire brigade ,banks ,clinic etc. Mazi Odera Truth is our standard, accept it in good faith or we shove it down your throat. The Choice is yours.

I dont know why Abia enemies are always out to bring it down but God has always been on our side, which is why we have been able to withstand any form of oppression. Yesterday a truck loaded with refuse was arrested in Aba, where they were discharging the refuse. Guess what, these truck came all the way from PortHarcourt to discharge its waste in Aba. Wonders shall never end. Abia transformation is on course, so haters you can do more than you have done |
What did Abians do to Okorocha? Why is he always trying to bring quarrel between brothers and sisters. He should not let his political ambition affect the citizens of the region negatively. Why would he ban Abia line to stop operation in Owerri while other transport companies are allowed to operate from the same packing lot where Abia line waas ejected. That is not fare |
Why is Imo fighting Abia? They are sister states and yet they give each other akpo, which is not suppose to be. Others will be laughing at us, while we watch our dirty linen outside. Both sides should come together to resolve this small issue abeg. Okorocha should lead in ensuring that both transport corporations start their normal operation in both states. Ndi Igbo ndewo nu! |
