FrankNetter: So. Like I stated in my last post, my tires were pretty bad so I opted to driving my sister's vehicle. After like two to three days without driving my car, I decided to warm it up a little as it had been sitting in the cold for so long. I put the keys in the ignition, the motor no gree start. I had to jump start the battery using my sister's car.
I drove to a place called autozone, bought jumper cables for like $23, drove back home, connected the dead battery to my sister's car battery and tried to start the car. Motor no gree start. It turns out I did a wrong connection and killed my sister's car battery.
So I drove my mum's car (the highlander) out of the garage and jumped both car batteries. I left both cars running, so the alternator could charge the batteries a little. Returned my mum's car and went to prepare for work.
I drove to my new job for my orientation (post about my new job coming up). It was a floor orientation and was scheduled to hold from 3pm - 11pm with a 30 minute break.
During my 30 minute break, I decided to step out and buy some food. I got into my car and tried to start it, e no gree start. So, here I was, 8:30 pm, the weather was freezing (-2 degrees) in Chicago and my car won't start.
I went back inside and through out the orientation, I kept thinking of what to do when it would be time for me to go home. At around 10:00pm, I took an excuse and went to try to start the car, no response. That's my number one fear. Make car no start for this freezing weather and make you get appointment join. |

pretty16: Hi peeps. Longtime . what's good? @ Oladeep. I heard after approval of Visa , there's another fee to be paid before leaving the shores of naija. $220 visa processing fee. Heard without payment of this fee, green card will be delayed. @ Chokey419, pls confirm this, did u pay the immigrant visa fee of $220 before leaving naija? Heard as soon as ur interview is done and you are approved, they will give u the form with instructions on how to pay? Guessing its a new policy, cos peeps that did theirs way way back said there was no such payment during their time. I didn't pay mine till I got here. But it didn't stop me from applying for my social security number, drivers license and jobs. Most jobs want your ssn and once you have it Its all good. |

They can only be asked for DNA if there isn't enough evidence btw them and the petitioner ( that's always decided after the interview ) Not disputing that but I did mine b4 my interview like 4years b4 sef. It was used for my uscis process. |

pretty16: Like for instance lets say u get welcome letter from nvc this november to start filling forms and sending documents, it will not get to Nov of next year. U will get an interview date before november of next year. Everyone i have seen doing it, doesn't get to a year.. For instance even our fellow nairalander chokey419, who got his welcome letter september last year, despite the delay as he was given a Checklist to still submit an additional document, got his interview date for August of this year. So it took him 11months despite the delay. My friend who got his welcome letter in June finished the NVC processing and got his interview date for december. So he just spent 6months at the NVC stage. Hi, have you gotten a date yet? |
