•Decreased desire •Reduced enjoyment •Unhappiness •Loss of appetite for food. Reality star Kim Kardashian was once cautioned by her doctors to stop having too much sex following revelations about the star’s daily multiple sex routine in effort to get pregnant. Kim, who was 34 at that time, had revealed in the Season 10 of their family reality show “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” that she and husband, Kanye West, were having “the best sex of their lives” and were going at it about 15 times a day in the effort to give their daughter North West a brother or sister. During a preview for the show, Kim confessed to have “been having sex 15 times a day” but was forced to have a rethink after doctors warned categorically that too much sex was dangerous to her health. Sex There are many couples like Kim and Kanye (and not just in Hollywood) who are hooked on sex orgies and realising almost too late that too much sex can be too much of a good thing. Sex is a normal, healthy, fun part of adult life. Sexual attraction and sexual compatibility are the basis of many successful relationships. Sex is good and glorious, but the truth is that too much sex is no just as bad as too little sex, if not worse. While science suggests sex can improve mood and decrease anxiety by reducing stress signals in the brain, excessive indulgence can interfere with overall quality of health. In fact, it is known that a large appetite for sex can cause loss of appetite for other things including food. Scientists have suggested that people that spend their life on frantic love-making and engaging in marathon sex might not find happiness at the end of it all. “Engaging in too much sex can actually cause unhappiness, if findings by researchers from Carnegie Mellon University are to be taken seriously. They instructed 32 married couples to double the amount of sex they were having, while a control group of 32 other couples kept having sex at their normal frequencies. When questioned afterwards, the couples who had sex more weren’t happier – saying that the increase in frequency led to them feeling less desire for each other. The couples also enjoyed having sex less when they were ‘doing it’ more. “The desire to have sex decreases much more quickly than the enjoyment of sex once it’s been initiated,” said Tamar Krishnamurti, a scientist at the College. So how much sex is ideal, and how much is too much? According to research, youngsters aged18- 29 have sex an average of 112 times per year, while 30-39-year-olds engage in it an average 86 times per year. So if that’s average, what’s healthy? Experts say most couples in a relationship should be having sex at least once per week. According to a therapist Dr. Barry McCarthy, sex once or twice a week is healthy. “During the honeymoon stage, when two people can’t stop thinking about each other, couples often have sex every time they’re together. And when couples first move in together, the frequency of sex increases, but only temporarily. Sexual obsession or hypersexuality, compulsive sexual behaviour, sex addiction and other forms of excessive indulgence in sex could be a sign of loneliness or depression. A study published in 2013 suggests that much of the time, hypersexuality is really just “high desire” and not necessarily a medical issue. Regardless, if sex is being used as a substitute for dealing with a real issue, it requires therapy. “What matters at the end of the day is the quality rather than the quantity. Having sex daily doesn’t mean it’s too much, so long as both partners enjoy it,” sex therapist, Dr Ian Kerner noted. But if partners are regularly having sex and one person feels more satisfied than the other, sex can start to feel like a chore for the less-satisfied party. Really there’s no right way to go about sex, and the preferred amount of sex varies from person to person. For instance, the average male ejaculates three to six minutes after sex begins, so the majority of women don’t feel too left out because most don’t achieve orgasm through penetration alone. “Sex is a bilateral experience,” one expert mooted. “Both partners ought to be instrumental in its choreography and neither one should ever feel that they are being forced to adhere to the other’s agenda. “For a fulfilling sex life that’s just right, it’s helpful to be honest and open with your partner about how frequently you’d like to be intimate. And that doesn’t mean it needs to be a boring discussion. Telling your partner about your desires—in specific terms—can be highly erotic.” One study found that couples who communicate about sex, especially during the act, are more sexually satisfied. So there should be mutual enjoyment, whether that means giving or getting. That said, if you ever feel overwhelmed (either physically or emotionally) by the kind or amount of sex you’re having, let your partner know you need a break. Sex can be dangerous if there’s any sort of pressure or force to do something with which either party isn’t comfortable. Having sex on the regular is part of a healthy, normal adult life. But when sex gets in the way of your day-to-day, it might be time to seek professional help. Appetites for sex grow and shrink, and successful couples are compelled to manage those ups and downs. Sometimes libidos will match up, but when they don’t, Kerner says everyone should take responsibility for their own sexuality. BBC Monitoring The world through its media Coptic Pope Tawadros II recites a prayer in the new Cpotic church inside Eporo Tower on September 10, 2017 in Melbourne, Australia. Getty Images Coptic Pope Tawadros II said monks should dedicate their time to God Pope Tawadros II, the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church in Egypt, has announced his intent to shut down his official Facebook page and make better use of his time, the state-run Mena news agency reports. It quoted him as saying on Facebook: Time is the most precious gift God gives us daily, and we must use it in a good way. The Christian must sanctify his time, and the monk leaves everything behind so that all of life becomes sanctified for God." His Facebook page, which is still active at the moment, says he joined the social network in October 2009. The Church was also giving monks a month to shut down all their social media accounts and give their time solely to the monastic order, Mena added. It comes on the heels of several other decrees imposed by Coptic Orthodox Church after the mysterious death of a bishop at a monastery near Cairo on Sunday. Some of the restrictions include: No new monks to be accepted into monasteries for a year The ordination of priests to be suspended for three years Members of the monastic order banned from appearing in the media They are also banned from living in monasteries unless they have been tasked by the Church to do so. The circumstances surrounding Bishop Epiphanius' death remain unclear. He was found with head injuries in what is reportedly being investigated as a possible murder.

Mistakes happen. Nobody is above mistakes, we were told very early in life. But in Catechism classes in Roman Catholic, we were also told that the Pope is infallible. It remains arguable to non Catholics who have maintained that no man is infallible except our Lord Jesus. Anyway, that is not the subject of my write-up. There are very embarrassing gaffes that one is not expected to make. But because they are mistakes, we find ourselves committing the blunders. And these mistakes are not limited to certain quarters or persons. Take for instance a girl asked; ‘’ Is Nigeria and Super Eagles playing? This was in the match against Serbia. She did not get an answer but she went ahead to say that she does not believe in the Eagles because Nigeria will beat them. That was after seeing the scoreboard reading Serbia 2 Nigeria 0. Out here in Gold Coast, Australia, many were dumbfounded when England was listed as an African nation in the official Commonwealth Games program. The embarrassment did not stop there. It went on. England capital was not listed as London but as Banjul according to the glossy 130-page program which also contained an official welcome address by the Queen. The nation that gave us the Commonwealth and the Games was also said to have a population of two million citizens. Hmmm! That is a far cry from the actual population of above 66.5 million people. The mistakes went on and on even saying that England’s first Commonwealth was in 1970, when indeed it was in 1930. And like John C. Maxwell said; ‘’if you want to grow, you need to get over any fear you may have of making mistakes”.Despite the errors, the opening ceremony was spectacular and the facilities provided for the Games are second to none. Man causes stir as passengers make calls, use phones while flying The look on his face suggested that he was not at ease. Initially, one thought it was the fear of flying or the expected 14 long hours on the aircraft. The big bird manoeuvred the clouds in amazing fashion while many engaged in friendly banters while business men were busy with their ipads or laptops. Our friend could no longer bear seeing people making calls and endangering our lives as the phones would interfere with the aircraft’s signals as we were usually told during our local flights in Nigeria. He got up and grabbed the man with his phone and shouted that he should put the phone off. That attracted a lot of attention and the crew immediately came to the rescue. All attempts to explain to him that people were free to use their phones met with his stubborn resistance. It took a long lecture that the only time people were not allowed to use their phones and tablets were during take-off and landing. Our man grudgingly accepted even though we knew he was not convinced. Hell was now raised when I brought out my phone and nearly choked me. ‘’You too want to join them?”, he asked with a tone that suggested that if he allows the whites to use their phones, he’ll not allow me(common me) to use my phone. Flowers not recharge cards show love Hardly can you see 10 people without seeing them clutching their beautiful flowers. The flowers are not restricted to young men and women. The aged are also involved. And there is so much joy in them when they hold flowers. I was told that besides prophesying love, that the flowers are meant for forgiveness, too. The red flowers especially, I learnt symbolizes love, romance, beauty and perfection. As a Nigerian, I am not used to flowers. My one and only contact with flower was during my wedding. And it remains a big feature to Nigerians only a t weddings. The flowers are thrown backwards for spinsters who push and struggle to grab it. Whoever gets it first, I was told, would be the next in line to get married. I don’t think so. I had seen in a wedding when a man rebuked his girlfriend for picking the flower thrown at spinsters. The man said that if she likes she can pick a dozen flower as that would not move him into rushing into marriage. Different strokes! Give a lady flower here and you win her soul. Give a Nigerian a flower, and she’ll think you have gone gaga. But give her recharge card and you have recharged her spirit and her emotions for love. Now, I know that a flower cannot blossom without sunshine as man cannot live without love. Every flower is a soul blossoming in nature. Love is the flower you’ve got to let grow. My political ambition is still alive — Osita Iheme Popular actor, Osita I heme aka Pawpaw, speaks with TOFARATI IGE about his career, relationship with Chinedu Ikedieze and other related issues What are some of the memories you have of your childhood? Growing up was a bit rough for me. I used to dread the rainy season because our house used to be flooded with water. My parents would have gone to the market and I would be the only one at home. I used to think it was because we were poor, but whenever I see what the big men in Lekki go through, I realise that it was because of the area we lived in. How did you get into the movie industry? I used to live in Aba, Abia State, and my friend took me to a place where movie auditions were held. One day, I was chosen to feature in a movie and the rest is history. However, I have always loved to act. In those days, I used to feature in church dramas. You recently opened a hotel. Why did you decide to go into that line of business? It is an investment. I was motivated by the need to render services to humanity and create employment. We all know that the rate of unemployment in the country is high; so, I decided to look for a way to contribute my quota since I have the privilege to do that. Owerri is a tourism destination in the South-East. The hotel is another way to contribute to the growth of my state. Is it true that the project cost you hundreds of millions It indeed cost a lot of money but I cannot give you a specific figure. Building a hotel is not an easy task. You also established a record label, Young Boss Records. Is it still running? Yes, it is still operational but things have been moving slowly because of the hotel project which I had to focus my attention on. It was one of the challenges I faced because I had to pay less attention to the record label while building the hotel. Now that I have finished building the hotel, I will devote more time to the label. We already have two artistes signed to the label and they have released a song each. Do you also have plans to sing? Definitely! I’m looking into that. Entertainment is vast and it encompasses music as well as acting. I think I have the singing talent in me. I don’t think it’s a bad idea for me to show another side of me. I have even recorded some songs in the past though they have yet to be released. Some actors who delved into music were severely criticised in the past. Aren’t you worried that could also happen to you? They were criticised because people did not like their music, not because of their decisions to sing. If I sing and people enjoy it, they wouldn’t have any reason to criticise me. People also criticise the known artistes; so, there’s nothing unusual about criticisms. What kind of music would you be doing? I will like to keep that to myself until I release my songs. You also have a transport business. Do you have any experience as a transporter? There was a time one of my staff had an accident. That was what drove me to establish a transport company that would run from the South-East to Lagos. You once wrote a motivational book. How did that come about? The book is titled, Inspired 101. I read a lot and one day, I was inspired and I decided to write my own book. I dedicated the book to secondary school students and I took it to the Universal Basic Education Board and they bought some copies for schools. Copies of the book are in the National Library and in different schools across the country. The book contains a compilation of my original quotes and others that I got from other books. You have your hands in a lot of pies. How do you manage all these businesses effectively? Maybe you should ask Dangote how he is able to manage his numerous companies. I have managers that handle each arm of the business; I only play a supervisory role. The business does not affect my acting career and my personal activities. Do these businesses bring you more money than acting? I wouldn’t say they bring more money but they support my acting career. Acting is not an everyday thing; there is no guarantee that you would get jobs all the time. One cannot depend only on acting because there is no security in it. Aside acting, it is important for one to also have another source of income. Acting is something that is done out of passion, not necessarily because you want to make money from it. I also carry out contracts and that fetch me a lot of money, much more than acting. How have you been able to remain relevant in Nollywood? It is primarily by the grace of God. Secondly, I always follow new trends and I always keep abreast of new developments in the industry. It is also about knowing what to do at the right time. What were your ambitions as a child? While growing up, I didn’t have anything particular in mind that I wanted to do. I just grew up and found myself acting. Like I said earlier, I started my acting career in church and from there, I picked up the interest to become an international actor. Do you still have a political ambition? By the special grace of God, I still have a political ambition. I have always wanted to be a leader so as to provide good things for my people. There is something that keeps pushing me to do that and I cannot seem to shrug it off. I know that when the time is right, the dream would become a reality. What are some of the most memorable times of your career? The days when I was at the peak of my career was a very memorable time for me. There were times that I couldn’t rest for five months at a stretch because I was busy shooting films everywhere. I used to sleep in hotels for months. There were times that we would finish shooting movies by 1am, only to begin shooting another one by 5am. Whenever I remember those days, I am amazed. I enjoyed it but it was fun and tough at the same time. As a young person, just coming into the industry at the time, the money was flowing in and it was really a nice period. What are some of those personal qualities that helped you to get to this point? Firstly, I respect my senior colleagues and I have good working relationship with my directors and producers. Even when there is no movie to shoot, I still communicate with them. While on set, I also respect my senior colleagues and I learn from them as well. It pays to be humble and have good relationship with people. I also watch my movies so that I can correct mistakes that I might have made. If you were not an actor, what would you have become? I think I would have become a footballer. Everybody in my family plays football and I used to play a lot. I knew that I could not really continue with football because of my nature. I could perform better as an actor; that is why I stuck with acting. Do some of your fans treat you like a child because of the roles you play in movies? They don’t relate with me like a child because they know that I an adult. I may act like a child in movies, but out there in the world, I am Osita. Sometimes though, fans can misbehave out of excitement and do certain things that would not go down well with you. For example, when I travelled to Benin Republic, a fan removed my cap and hit it on my head. It was embarrassing but I knew it was done out of excitement. Is it true that you are no longer friends with Chinedu Ikedieze? We have a perfect relationship. Meeting each other was a divine connection; it was God who brought us together. Don’t listen to whatever rumours that say we are not on good terms. What do you think can cause problems between two good friends? Women, money or a host of other things. Truly, those things can cause problems between friends but that is not our case. Whenever money comes, we share it together. We may have misunderstandings, like every other person, but we always reconcile and move on because we understand each other. When are you going to get married and how do you handle female fans who may want to get intimate with you? (Laughs). Don’t worry. When that happens, you would be the first to know. As for female fans, I let them know that I appreciate them as fans and would rather love to have them as friends. What kind of woman do you like? I like a woman who is God-fearing and intelligent. I am not really particular about physical qualities. Do you sometimes wish you were taller? Not everybody in the world is tall. Some are short, and others are of average height. We cannot all look the same. I happen to fall among the short people and I have no regrets about that. Has your height ever affected your relationship with women? No, it has never. How do you relax? I play football a lot. I also read books, especially the Holy Bible. I watch TV and I also engage in exercises. How do you like to dress? I love to look good. You know I am an Aba boy. INEC, has said despite the issuance of new voter’s card to Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, he has not been left off the hook over the double registration issue, saying its decision on prosecuting him after his tenure still stands. Gov Yahaya Bello INEC said what it did was to process Bello’s right to have his voter’s card based on legal advice. This was INEC’s submission at an interactive session with newsmen and civil society organisations in Lokoja, yesterday. Presiding over the meeting, the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Professor James Apam, explained that the commission is not unaware of the circumstances that heralded the governor’s transfer of his card from Abuja to Kogi State. His words: “We have not gone back on our stand against Governor Yahaya Bello over the double registration. But we have nothing to hold him now. And based on legal advice, we have to allow him transfer his voter’s card from Abuja to Okene.” His rights He continued: “The allegations against him have not taken away his rights to demand a transfer. What we did is that we treated his matter distinctly— double registration on one side, request for transfer of voter’s card on another side. But I must tell you, the allegations against him are still hanging.” The REC also called on registered voters to come out and collect their permanent voters’ cards, PVCs, saying 202,289 are yet to be collected, representing 10 percent of the total registered voters in the state. He said the commission, under the ongoing continuous voters’ registration, has registered 176,886 persons as at February, while 7,169 persons within the period have successfully transferred their PVCs and 9,400 cards were replaced. South African police have busted Mancoba Seven Angels Ministry, a church run as a cult, with no fewer than 100 sex slaves, among them girls as young as 12, nursing tiny babies and with leaders who regard themselves as angels. The room of the sex slaves in the Mancoba church. Photo Credit: City Press The church, called Mancoba Seven Angels Ministry, was sacked Saturday after some members of the church attacked a police station in the tiny Eastern Cape Town of Engcobo, killing five policemen. Leaders of the church, who see themselves as angels, were alleged to be the masterminds of the attack at the police station. The Mancoba brothers behind the Evil Angels Ministry, a church run as a cult “In this church it is forbidden to have identity documents. Children are not allowed to have birth certificates and they are not allowed to attend school,” said National Police Commissioner General Khehla Sithole. The rescued girls were kept in about 10 corrugated iron shacks. Inside, mattresses lined the floor and clothes hung from wires or were dumped on the beds. A high-ranking police officer told City Press that the cult, in the centre of Nyanga village, was established by a Mr Mancoba, who died in 2015. Mancoba’s seven sons refused to follow their father’s successor. The “seven angels” and their mother subsequently became the leaders of the breakaway cult. They soon ran out of money, which the officer said could explain why they attacked the police station and bombed two ATMs in town. “They need money and are desperate. People of that church are brainwashed. They only live in their own world.” The officer said at least three of the seven men killed in Friday night’s shooting were among the “angel” brothers, who had masterminded the massacre. One of them is on the run. “The guys, known as angels, drive very expensive cars, but do not work. They are well known here in Engcobo,” the officer said. “There are people here in this town who go to that church. People would give up all their pensions and donate them to the church,” said the officer. City Press of South Africa reported that three of the seven Mancoba brothers suspected of involvement in the murders of the officers were killed during a shoot-out with police on Friday. Sithole said the rescued girls were “indoctrinated and brainwashed” girls. They have been taken to social workers for counselling. As City Press reported, the cult – run by the seven Mancoba brothers and their mother – was flagged by the government since 2016. A report by chapter 9 institution the CRL Rights Commission, which was presented to Parliament’s portfolio committee on cooperative governance and traditional affairs in October last year, warned it was a disaster waiting to happen. Commission chairperson Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva told City Press she interviewed the cult leaders in 2016 during her investigation into church practices and made the parliamentary committee aware of her “serious concerns”. “Everyone [at the cult] was sitting waiting for Jesus to come. We told Parliament that this was a high risk and these people need urgent attention. “We warned that there will be something else [that will happen] once their money runs out. Look what has happened,” Mkhwanazi-Xaluva said. “This has been a ticking time bomb. We said either these people are going to commit suicide or something else will happen. “We questioned the sanity of church leaders, who saw themselves as angels sent by God.” The Eastern Cape social development department knew about the cult. Spokesperson Mzukisi Solani said officials went there in 2016 and rescued 18 children. They were taken to places of safety after the department obtained a court order. After the raid, they alerted the CRL commission to the cult. On Friday night, police tracked down those who allegedly attacked the police station. They were found 3km outside Engcobo and about 500m from where two of the five slain policemen were executed before their van plunged into a gorge. Seven cult members were killed in the ensuing shoot-out and 10 were arrested. Read more at: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/02/south-africa-busts-evil-angels-church-100-sex-slaves/
