tbaba1234: Osayi might be used in the south east but it is used more in Edo. Some Edo people bear yoruba names for instance but the proportion is small compared to the yoruba population.
The truth is that when i see Osayi, the first guess is Edo or Delta. But like you said, there are exceptions to the rule. Ok |

safarigirl: There is an actor named Emeka Ossai.
There are many names that sound like they belong to certain ethnicities, but they also exist in others, albeit with some variances.
Eg
Idoko and Agbo could be Igbo or Igala
Udoh and Kalu could be Igbo or Ibibio
Jide and Ola could be Igbo or Yoruba.
So, all these names things can be confusing for many Add Okoro, Ajala, Ujah, Ene, Ijeh etc |

tbaba1234: The whole combination suggests Edo not just Osayi. The examples you cited still have common igbo names.
Bright is also commonly used by Edo people. What combinations sir? Yes the two examples I gave have two core Igbo names, but the said player has no local name for u to draw ur conclusion. Bright and Samuel are also commonly used down East. |

charlesemeka85: bright is a common name among the igbos and i have one in my family Some people make the mistake of relating names to a particular place alone, just because they seem distinct or prominent to that region. That was same mistake someone once made here about the name "Ajala" thinking that only Yorubas bear the name |

tbaba1234: That name sounds very much like an Edo name. Born in Okija to Edo parents? Yes he was born in Okija, and Yes Edos bear Osayi, but, so do some Igbos too, so i cant tell where his parents came from, all what that matter to me is his move and his potential quest with the eagles. That said, I personally know some Igbos with that surname and they have no Edo roots. It is spelt Osayi or Osai. I know a certain Osayi Emmanuel Emeka from UNN, Chinyere Osayi et al. |
