Jones played 3/4 of his games in midfield last season.

Jones and Smalling were both okay under SAF but Jones was the preferred (Centre back, midfield and right back).

But Smalling had more games in the defence. Jones playing everywhere means he's another O'Shea; jack of all trade

DDG had 1 1/2 (one and a half) poor seasons.

Jones was very good for us in the defence and midfield under SAF.

Smalling was the one who played centre back under Moyes. He was always taken to the gutters by average strikers. Jones played midfield last season and he did very well.

I see no passion from none of our players for the team. No one shows that and takes the game to the opponent (bar Blind) when we're trailing including the so-called captain; instead he goes missing. You would think we're leading.

I think Gaal should stick with Jones since he had chosen him. Few errors here and there are normal for someone who is coming up the ladder as a centre back, particularly as he has been played out of position over the years. Even this season, he was the one sacrificed to cover right back while Rafael went on injury/fell out of favour. We will get that consistency and organisation from him with plenty games in that position just as we did with DDG.

DDG had only one season with little error and Jones has been here how long? You were pointing out Smalling errors while I can list here Jones errors that led directly to goals this season.

Jones is another jack of all trade master of none. He lacks discipline to man his positon and easily gets attracted to the ball.

that's why he's refusing to build around the likes of Herrera and Rafael. i don't think he enjoys players who like to commit in opposing half or do that extra bit in attack when they are not really forwards.

in my opinion tho, it is bullshit. robots are never entertaining to watch. when Valencia is on the attack, you just know what will happen next automatically; just two options for him, same with Rooney in midfield or van Persie in midfield - it makes it easier for opposition defenders. compare it to the dynamism of a Nani or Young lately or Herrera in the early part of the season.

i think specific instructions are dished about risk taking to the few dynamic players we have, except for maybe di Maria; it has made the whole football pedestrian at best.

Seriously, LVG is not d type of manager we need and am sorry to say it. I wish Giggs wl take over frm him now.
This man should have his first eleven players and stop rotating them and some players need to make way. How abt bringing back chicharito back,I bet he wl be better than VP and Falcao.
Today Falcao didn't play yet the same goal drought from our strikers and I begin to wonder if Falcao is the problem, bt I don't think so though he's not doing well too.
Our problem is LVG tactics of keeping possession, it nw makes our players to play sideways and backwards, fear of moving the ball forward and loose possession which is not united way. No one tries to shot outside the 18 yard box anymore,Rooney is good at that yet he doesn't do that any longer. In fact, am pissed off wt ths type of football we are playing nw.

That's my greatest fear about him. Cruyff said he's a possession freak and I just pray he's not another Wenger.

I just noticed Herrera has reduced in his forward passes. If you watched him in the pre-season and early this season you will notice that.

I will say we should just ditch the 2 strikers. It makes the midfield overloaded against us which disconnects our midfield from the 2 strikers upfront.

And it is not like we've a 'Scholes' or 'Xavi' that can hold the ball well
