Looking at it from a logical standpoint Nigeria has infrastructure deficit that would take Billions of dollars to fix.

The unfortunate reality is if we plug all the corruption holes and/or Nigerians become overnight saints we still don't have nearly enough revenue to fix all our problems.

So what are the options? Don't borrow maintain fiscal discipline that would drive down debt but won't likely grow your economy because you're unable to invest in infrastructure that would stimulate productivity.

Second option borrow so you can fund needed infrastructure but on the downside there's a risk a substantial part will be stolen while adding to your national debt.

No straightforward answers.

Added to that the irresponsibility of many Governors especially in the North. While the Enugu State Governor is building infrastructure and the Abia government is clearing debt the one in Kano decides mass marriage is the best thing not forgetting sponsoring Hajj.

They saved subsidy, increased allocations, and borrowed X5 of what they saved.

I was looking at the debt FCT is in. Wike don borrow wetin the next 5 Ministers no go fit pay back.

At this point if you can't get a team in European top leagues it's better to manage MLS and Saudi in that order instead of wallowing in Turkey.

This may be used as an addendum and not the main strategy. The reason for this is, first, it is a longer process without a guaranteed outcome. The only way feasible way to use the law as a tool they get them out of office is indicting them of financial related crimes and this sadly is very difficult to prove particularly if the NFF can show proof (which they can because they've gotten smarter over the years) of an audited account. It's why they couldn't get Pinnick too even though they tried. The EFCC also has an abysmal conviction record with their corruption cases. I saw years ago that they don't even get convictions up to 20% of their cases. So the incentive to fight the cases in court is there for the NFF folks and they can also play the long game and just wait out the current administration as they can keep the court cases going for 6+ years while they remain in office.

Also no 2 is even the easiest if you ask me. That's because the FA chairman position is 100% political. That is they are appointees if the state government and the president currently has 33 of them in his party. He can easily instruct all state governor to appoint anyone if his choosing who will in turn work with his team go get the desired outcome.

There's no state governor I know in this country who will go at logger heads with the president because he wants them to sack their current state FA chairman. There's literally none.

I'm just happy all this meltdown happened last season when Arteta won the league if not revisionists would have been yapping that Arsenal only won the league because Pep wasn't there.

Number 2 looks straight forward however getting the Governors on board might be tricky cos we've had government's in the past where majority where from the same party as the President yet he couldn't influence the appointment of state FA chairman.

When I mention EFCC it's not necessarily to get to court or acquire a conviction just to let the persona in the glass house know that they have overstayed their welcome and government is prepared to deal with them seriously if they don't play ball. Like Yoruba's say sometimes you use madness to cure insanity.

Number 2 will be hard no doubt. I think a modified form of what GEJ did through his then DG of DSS should be adopted.

Using the EFCC, Gbaja, NSC, and DSS strong arm the Gusau led that in no uncertainty terms his reelection alongside his exco will not be acceptable and if they decide to go ahead they will be heavily prosecuted for non football related offences which I'm sure the aforementioned agencies will dig up. A bit of carrot can also be deployed with the promise of a soft landing in the form of a political position outside football leadership.

What is certain is that a once and for all intervention has to take place.

lovewins:
I made these suggestions October last year on how the President can best navigate the NFF conundrum without necessarily being in breech of FIFA regulations. Not sure that's possible now with the election a few months away and the current board determined to give the government a fight, but this is still the most viable option in my opinion.

You raise great points.

For the NFF presidency I suggest we go a bit out of the box by going for a private sector person with administrative acumen.

Still think we need a foreign manager for the women's team but the Nigerian assistant will understudy the manager and then take when their contract is up.

Franktom247:
I think Emenalo and Seyi are more known for the technical side of the game rather than their administrative side

I feel Mikel talks too much and could easily cave into pressure

If I will throw up a name for the NFF president I will suggest Mr Godwin Enakhena that is if he will be given a free hand to operate but he has insisted he is not interested in the position.

And as for the women coaching position let us go get a former Nigerian international like say Omagbemi and give her the right support and facilities she needs and try to also involve or blend older senior female internationals to speak with the girls

Really heartwarming seeing the outpouring of love and appreciation being shown to Awoniyi by teammates, supporters, and the owner of Nottingham Forest.

Taiwo on his own is a top guy and deserves his flowers that said European Clubs as ruthless as they can be know how to appreciate a player.

Contrast to here when a player died and the club couldn't even postpone preseason games in his honour.

It is well.

TheSuperNerd:
In their first season back in the EPL in 2022/23 after so many years in the lower tiers, it was Awoniyi who scored their first EPL goal on their EPL return. His goals also helped them in a relegation battle. He is one of the reasons Forest stayed up that season (2022/23) and the following season (2023/24) till they gradually became a mainstay team in the EPL for 4 seasons heading into their 5th consecutive EPL season now in 2026/27.

Awoniyi is a cult hero at the City Ground and deserves such a send off and even more.

Now the same thing is being attempted via the "no wonder people say we hype our players" all because I evidently debunked a clearly false assertion with facts.

False statements will never be allowed to stand in this thread. If any adult feels like they wanna establish an opinion about Nigerian football, better do proper research before spilling, because I am right here to proof read it as false or true. Finito.

Good work out.

Pros:

Was heavily involved in the attacking third.

Showed glimpses of his dribbling ability.

Wasn't barged off the ball easily

Cons:

Too one-footed needs to improve his right leg or he will become predictable to mark

First touch slightly off

Looked lightweight which is to be expected given his slight frame. Will improve with age and bigger muscle mass

Shoting also needs work

All told decent debut

Nah bro I disagree look at the replay again Uche was trying to lift the ball over the on rushing defender who recklessly had his studs shin high.

Yes the ball was there to be won but the defender with his lack of care has cost a fellow professional time out on the sidelines for only God knows how long. That's if he will be able to play at professional level again.

JohnBullMySon:
Not excusing the defenders careless move but Chrisantus decison to attempt lifting the ball in that final moment is the most obvious reason for that injury.

Watch closely, at the point where he saw the defender coming in for the sliding tackle, he planted his left foot and attempted that lob with right, putting him in a bad position on contact with the defender.

Knee related injuries (ACL) usually happen with a planted feet.

I think the defender was oblivious and confused at first, maybe even thinking that he went down too easily. He was drawing a foul with the tackle sha but did not anticipate that Chrisantus will try to raise (chip) the ball. The touch on his end might have then felt light.

Guy... imagine going pragmatic against the likes of Brentford, Everton, and Brighton teams we should be peppering properly.

The other good thing I see about this Bruno signing is that it would allow Rice to advance further forward. Don't be surprised if this season turns out to be Declan's most prolific in front of goal even though he will play fewer games.

I'm caught in two minds about Martinelli.

I personally think he's reached his ceiling and won't improve the team by much, but I can understand his impact as a super sub.

If for some crazy reason we're able to secure Vini then Gab will definitely be leaving.

Squad looks almost set, however the Oliver Twist in me still thinks we need backups for RB and LB. An additional forward wouldn't be shabby either.

mostob:
Arteta needs to let go. He has been holding the break for too long. Now that the 98% of the squad are fully on board with his philosophical foundation, he needs to trust them more and just let them do their thing. I'm saying this because of how our current squad is...the confidence is high and no pressure for now, at least not like before. I need them to explode. If they do, the league will feel it.

And.... Martinelli should stay please
