The root causes of insecurity in the North include elements of religion, ethnicity, politics, and economics. The religious aspect involves the Sultan of Sokoto, the Emirs, and individuals like Sheikh Gumi, etc. On the ethnic side, 90% of these bandits and terrorists are from the Fulani ethnic group. They want to maintain their power-grip on the land,political dominance,and influence on the North through terrorism.
President Tinubu and other politicians lack the political will to confront this menace and eradicate it once and for all because of politics. The economic aspect involves the stupendous wealth these bandits and terrorists are making from kidnappings, cattle rustling, illegal community taxation, levies, etc.

The way out: We need foreign military boots on the ground. Mr. Trump, please don’t be an all-talk-and-no-action man; please, walk the talk!
