Politics / Re: Nigeria; Where All Animals Are Never Equal. by ChristyG(f): 3:56pm On Apr 03, 2015
Whynotthetruth:
At a time in history, we need to open up some wounds and emphasize some bitter truths. The most important election which is the centre has ended and Nigeria seem to be readying for another phase in her democratic history. It becomes pertinent that I share some of my views about this election.

1)This election brought to fore that one Nigeria seem to be only in the dictionary of certain section of Nigeria. Hence, election results is only adjudged the will of the masses when a section has won. Otherwise, it is termed diversion or usurpation of voters will. Check reactions of candidates to election results since this democratic dispensation. This hypocrisy is most times promoted by political parties and ethnic champions. See reactions to result of elections especially 2011 election results.

2)This election was won basically by ethnicity and tribalism and not by performance and any understanding of the system, empirical analysis of situations on ground so as to come up with veritable options and solutions.

3)It also shows that the major ethnic groups with seemingly higher voting population will continue to intimidate the minorities notwithstanding the destruction and devastation done by them(major ethnicities) on this country since independence. Minorities MUST accept whatever is thrown at them. Ruining of the economy is pardonable once the offender is from those major ethnic groups.

4)Rigging and diversion of masses will is permissible and not punishable only if it is conducted by these groups. Otherwise, how do you explain wanton rigging and under age voting in the north which has been swept under the carpet but emphasis is shifted to southeast and south south votes.

5)History has always repeated itself because we live in denial and tend to perpetuate falsehood or even push to rewrite history/truth ourselves. Nigeria won't grow not because she's cursed rather she joys in turning up side down known and established truths.

6)Most ethnic groups especially Southwesterners(Yoruba) since independence vote only their own in elections unless none of their own is contesting the said election. If this attitude isn't changed then we have to keep dreaming about a prosperous Nigeria for times unending.

7)Unless all ethnic groups are giving equal sense of belonging in Nigeria, then peace and development will always elude this country.

coolNigeria's problem lies in her structure than in her leaders. Because the current structure encourages laziness, parasitic living, and lack of initiative cum innovative ideas by leadership and people.

9)Nigeria can be great but only when we accept these bitter truths and address them comprehensively. Confab tried in this aspect but with Jonathan's loss, I don't see Buhari making any adjustment in the system since his party never even supported the initiative in its entirety.

10)Nigeria is a sick elephant. A weakened lion and diseased bird. Administer the relevant medication through restructuring of the system especially decentralization of governance and see her stand, roar and fly high up above nations, countries and kingdoms.

Source; my meditation hour product as triggered by dearpreye thread on aftermath of election and the Yoruba pattern of voting...thanks and God bless us all as we seek to do what's right...

funny when ibos accuse yorubas of tribalism when they are the kings and queens of tribalism.when yoruba voted for Jonathan in 2011 ignoring tunde bakare(no noise)then they decided to vote him out of incompétence(ibos are barking tribalism)..it Is like a dark kettle calling pot black
the SW and the NC had the most unbiased votes compared to ss and se.apc even lost in osinbanjo ijebu local govt, that did not happen with Jonathan or sambo

Bro, there is no mastermind here. What sw did is simple betrayal.

It is no rocket science, any northern candidate that gets the support of ss and se against a sw candidate will surely win.

The south is already divided and the north will keep ruling on that advantage.
how did sw betray?did sw not vote for jona in 2011?was there any agreement that sw will always vote for the south?i don't think so,we voted for our choice the way u guys did.
and if we are talking about south betrayal,u Ibo phucktards started the trend.azikwe refused to work with awolowo but a hausa man, same with shagari and ekwueme.u ibos will prefer hausa to Yoruba so why should we consider u?
ibos are the real betrayers not yorubas,Nigeria history did not start in 1999,go and read about Nigeria from the 1960s and those who started betraying the d south yet now their phoolish children have the the guts to call others betrayers.there is no southern unity,u have the west, east, south, north.so we are westerners not southerners

If I found a Genie in bottle tomorrow, the first thing I would wish for is the secession of the SE/SS from Nigeria as a different country (or 2 separate countries) so we can finally have breathing space from the Yorubas and Hausas who in reality add no value to our lives.

I know that a lot of people has been screaming "Change, Change, Change"......

But why did this change chanting start immediately A South Southerner became the president? Was it Goodluck Jonathan that started corruption? Will it end with him? If I remember vividly since the inception of this democracy, the south westerners and Northerners have been the people running this country. Just check it out;

1999-2007

President- Obasanjo (South-westerner)
Vice------ Atiku Abubakar (Northerner)

2007-2010

President----- Musa Yaraduar (Northerner)
Vice---------- Goodluck Jonathan (South Southerner)

When Yaraduar died (RIP), it was difficult for this same group of people to hand over power to this South Southerner as the constitution stipulates. When he eventually became the president by God's grace after all their shenanigans, they left with a promise to

"Make his government; UNGOVERNABLE"

2011-2015

President.... Goodluck Jonathan
Vice.......... Namadi Sambo (Northerner)

Fast forward to 2015, they kept good on their promise. They actually made his government intolerable and wicked to Nigerians because of his perceived "Weakness". They never allowed this young man to rest for one day! Distracting him here and there.

This same 2015, they cloned another Northerner and a South Westerner to come and govern this nation again. Not minding that almost 90% of the nations wealth comes from these people they call minority and are actually marginalizing them. What about other tribes? When will they actually govern this nation? When other tribes get to govern by chance, why is it that this so called majority tribes don't give them the support they need to govern?

Lagos is developed today because of that region

Abuja is developed today because of oil money from that region

Onitsha is booming because of money from that region.

Honestly, though I expected more from the government of Jonathan, I will be disappointed if he looses. In saner climes, Buhari should not be contesting elections again. He should be an elderly statesman giving advice to the younger politicians. To all those screaming PDP this and PDP that, mind you that this hatred on Jonathan is not about his party. It is a hatred by the people from two particular reion who feel that it is their right to always rule and govern others.

Obasanjo looted this country more than Jonathan. Nobody screamed change.

Abacha looted this country to hell. Nobody screamed change.

When it is the turn of Jonathan, the change chanters arose from the North and South West. But I believe that their is a God. He will fight for Jonathan and he will not loose this elections. Even if PDP looses, I dont care. But God will not allow Jonathan to loose. Mark my words!

Mark My Words.... Jonathan Will WIN!

it is funny how u start ur history from 1999. Nigeria became a republic in 1963 and it was u slimy Ibo @$$holes who joined forces with the northerners against the south, with azikwe the beautiful bride, same thing with shagari and ezekweume.now dat yorubas are joining forces with the north,u are throwing useless threats and insults.phuck u all, yorubas will vote for whoever they want.yorubas and hausa destroyed Nigeria,is it a Yoruba or Hausa man rulling bayelsa or abia? these rundown shitholes are run by your people so u ain't saints either.

On beauty,African magic Yoruba can be used as a standard for measuring beauty of Yoruba women. The fact is that most of the pretty looking women are mixed down the line or are from a different ethnic group,e.g :
Doris simeon - Edo
Helen Paul - Edo
Fathia Balogun - Delta
Iyabo Ojo - Yoruba
Rachel Oniga - Delta
Mercy Aigbe - Edo
Toyin Aimakhu - Edo.
It is interesting how they come up to tell us they are not Yoruba or are mixed.
That leaves you with the rest and we know themsmiley.

By Victor Omoregie
In order to recognise and encourage students who did very well in its examinations, the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, inaugurated a scheme to honour this category of students. Its essence was to celebrate the best students in its examinations. This recognition brought along with scholarship and national honour from the students countries.

However a mild drama has begun to play out regarding who is the best student for the West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations (WASSCE) of May/June 2011. With its entire government machinery, the Ondo State rolled out the drums to recognise and celebrate her own Miss Tolulope Falokun, a former student of St. Louis Secondary School, Ondo.

Commissioner for Information, Ondo State, Mr. Kayode Akinmade; Tolu; and Commissioner for Education, Mr. Remi Olatubora, during the state government reception for Tolu

The state government, through her Commissioner for Education, Mrs Remi Olatubora, organised a grand reception for Miss Falokun for scoring A1 in nine subjects. As part of the package, she was offered a scholarship to read law at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Like a bolt of lightning out of the sky, WAEC countered the Ondo State position by issuing a statement that Miss Falokun was neither the best candidate in West Africa nor in Nigeria. In fact, WAEC insists that the best students for the country and the sub-region had been announced and honoured at the 60th Annual Council meeting in Abuja on March 27, 2012.

WAEC says it was 17-year-old Miss Christianah Opeyemi Adeloye from Nigeria, and of Charis International College, Abeokuta, Ogun State, who was among the three best students presented at the Council meeting. WAEC publicly bestowed upon 19- year-old Ann Abena Sakyi, 17 year-old Hameed Irbaz (both from Ghana) and Miss Adeloye, first, second and third best students respectively of the May/June 2011 WASSCE.

Meanwhile, Ondo State government is holding on to its claim, as it said, through its Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, that WAEC congratulated the state through a letter to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and signed by one Mr. Austin Aidokha on behalf of the Head of National Office (HNO) in Nigeria, who described the student’s (Miss Falokun) performance as fantastic and unique, making her the best student in the sub-region and Nigeria in the 2011 WASSCE.

This recognition was conveyed to Ondo State, on behalf of WAEC, by one Midas Global Associates, a company based in Egbeda, Lagos. Midas Global Associates had earlier written to the Ondo State government requesting for the curriculum vitae (CV) of Miss Falokun.

The reason for the request by Midas Global Associates, as explained by an Ondo State government official, was to provide background information on any student that had done extremely well at any of WAEC’s examination. The procedure was normal.

The CV was to complement the profile of the selected student. Midas Global Associates is known to WAEC and could not have written the letter without any form of authorisation.

The facts state that Miss Tolulope Falokun, with examination number 429160/084, recorded A1 in nine subjects – Christian Religious Knowledge, Economics, Government, Literature in English, English Language, Yoruba Language, Mathematics, Agricultural Science and Biology – with a total score (T-score) of 742,6992.

On the other hand, Miss Opeyemi Adeloye, who WAEC recognised as the best student in Nigeria and was honoured with the National Distinction/Merit Award at the Abuja ceremony, made A1 in eight – Economics, Geography, English Language, Yoruba Language, Mathematics, Agricultural Science, Biology and Physics with a T-score of 682,3283. For her feat, Miss Adeloye received a presidential handshake from Vice President Namadi Sambo, who represented his boss, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

Her school, Charis International College, was not left out, as it was presented with the Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, the Benin monarch’s trophy for producing the “the best female candidate in 2011 WASSCE”.

To further complicate issues, WAEC announced that 17-year-old Miss Iyeyinka Omigbodun, a former student of Louisville Girls High School, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, is the second best student under the national category. Miss Omigbodun was said to have got A1 in eight subjects, namely Literature in English, English Language, Yoruba Language, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Physics. Miss Omigbodun had a T-score of 680,9797 with examination number 4280811/075.

The third position, under the national category, went to 18-year-old Miss Kanayo Uduani Nwigbo from Ebonyi State with number 4250418/198 and a T-score of 675,2813. She scored A1 in eight subjects – English Language, Geography, Mathematics, Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Most intriguing is that the name of Miss Tolulope Falokun, who scored A1 in nine subjects, never featured in the national category, not to talk of the sub-regional group.

The question being raised here is whether there was a mistake in the collation of the best candidates, as WAEC has not refuted the A1 scores in nine subjects by Miss Falokun, whose performance still stands as the best, whether at the national category or the sub-regional level. Dr. Uyi Uwadiae, Head of the National Office (HNO), after a meeting with some WAEC officials, pledged that the examination body would see to the end of the matter.

Speaking in the same vein, Mr. Yusuf Ari, Deputy Director of Public Affairs of WAEC, said the Council would investigate how Falokun’s school and Ondo State government arrived at the result. According to him, WAEC has time-tested criteria to choose the best students and these were used in honouring the recently announced best candidates in 2011 May/June WASSCE.

He was however silent on the role of Midas Associates. Meanwhile, Ondo State is standing on its position. Responding through her Commissioner for Information, Akinmade, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor,
Mr. Eni Akinsola, they said Miss Falokun’s school and the state government went ahead to honour the candidate based on a letter sent by WAEC through Midas Global Associates.

Akinmade claimed the state government was in possession of the letter from WAEC that showed that Miss Falokun came first not only in Nigeria but also in the sub-region. Akinsola said the document from WAEC was signed by one Mr. Austin Aidokhai, where he stated the criteria used in determining the best candidates.

From all indications, relying on the T-scores given by WAEC, Falokun is the best student in the May/June 2011 WASSCE. Meanwhile, the drama is still unfolding as stakeholders are asking WAEC how Midas Global Associates, located in Egbeda, Lagos, could act on its behalf. Secondly, the public would like WAEC to confirm whether Miss Falokun achieved A1 in nine subjects or not. The answer to this question would put to rest the entire controversy.

Truth be told, let us tell ourselves the truth: the academics issue you talked about is no more. Since the last few years, JAMB statistics have contiually showed the most JAMB applicants (those attempting to go to school) as from South East zone. In WAEC, the best performers in recent times have come from the South East and South South zones, save for Lagos state which is multi-ethnic in its composition with its performance largely attributed to non south westerners. The state with the highest professors isn't even Ekiti state to start with. There might have been a period the south west led in academics, say after the civil war and about 10 years after but ever since then they no longer lead.

Ogun state might have the highest number of private universities, that still does not make the south west as leading in academics. You can have all universities in Nigeria located in SW but yet with SW indigenes making up only 30% of overall attendance in those universities. We need to deal with numbers to establish that fact. Now, every university in Nigeria is given a certain quota of admissions to be given each year, for example 3000 admits, 3,225 etc, based on the university's carrying capacity and how prolific its academic curriculum is, and Federal Universities in Nigeria often have higher quotas than private universities, which implies that private universities admit generally a lesser number of students than federal universities (UNN, UI, UNIZIK, UNILAG, OAU, ABU, FUTO, UNIBEN etc) because Federal Universities often have a more diverse range of courses that they offer than private universities.

Now coming to numbers, in the south west zone, a considerable number of students in virtually most universities in SW are from the south east, and in the south east zone, an overwhelming 90% of students or more is from the same south east zone. These estimates given are representative of what JAMB statistics tell us - that students from south east zone are leading in number of applicants to universities in Nigeria. All over SE and in the North, you would not find students of SW origin contesting the natives in considerable number of students studying in universities in those areas as you would have students of SE doing the same in SW and the North. Students of SW origin tend to be concentrated mostly in the SW, where students of SE origin compete favourably in numbers with them and are still the majority in SE. JAMB and WAEC statistics confirm the demographcs.

As it stands now, south west no longer leads in academics, at least not in the population of stuents going to school. The SE zone has considerably closed on that gap created during and after the civil war.
bad belle, this guy will always try to downplay yorubas, the highest number of miracle centers are in d east,so we know where u get ur 'high' scores from.the best students for waec are mostly yorubas and not even ibos;(they give awards u know, and u hardly see any schools from the south east with all their 'good' result and which research did u do that u found out that yorubas hardly school in other regions?u ar just throwing useless numbers with no phucking proof to turn this thread into one of your senseless competion threads, shame on u....

80% of private schools in most northern Nigeria are owned by the Yoruba's, i can boldly say the Yoruba's controls the Educational sector of Nigeria.

Igbos are really trying in commerce
Hausas are well known in their suya Business and exporting of beggars
Yoruba's are known for academics

And how have ibos or hausa display 'nigerian' pride?is it with the ibos always shouting biafra or the hausa killing non northerners when trouble brews?very few nigerians have nigerian pride not only yorubas.nigerian pride is not about living or travelling to other regions, ibos still loathe yorubas despite living in d sw..there is no nigerian pride, never has and never will.i will rep yoruba before some nigeria
