PoliticsRe: Should The Government Change The Land Law? by Chrisvicmall(op): 10:28pm On Aug 22, 2012
J12: In Nigeria, the government also controls the land, so what exactly fo you mean?
How many lands have they control so far? Most of the lands in Nigeria are owned by individuals. Compare that to developed nations, it is like 80% land are owned and developed by their government while in Nigeria, 80% are owned and develop by individuals which is too bad for environmental beautification. Why in the world should someone build a house and wait for the government to build the road in front of his house? How many Nigeria landlord understand the use of flowers to decorate the environment?
PoliticsShould The Government Change The Land Law? by Chrisvicmall(op): 3:44pm On Aug 21, 2012
In most development countries, the government control most of the land. The Real Estate companies bought the land and build houses which they will sell/rent to individuals. This reduces crime and hatred since there won't be much land problem between families, brothers/sisters, etc or "My House fine pass Yours" problems.

Besides the government can design and develop the environment in a more suitable. There will be wider road network which is completely built by the government. This can also give job to most people that are into design and construction field.

Take a look at most Nigeria cities, towns, etc today, everyone build houses that suit their taste. If you look at the whole area, it gives the environment a sour. The worst thing is that the road in front of the house won't be touch since the landlord believes it is the government duty which when their is heavy rain, it affects everyone around the area.

My question is, Do you support the government to control the land system?

WebmastersRe: How Does A Website Make Money From Hits? by Chrisvicmall: 6:18am On Aug 19, 2012
In a nutshell, currently, 99.9% (if not 1000%) of Nairaland revenue comes from Google Adsense(hope you know what it is).

Questions and Answers?

1.) How does Nairaland makes money?
Nairaland makes money when someone clicks on the adverts that appear on Nairaland website. Or sometimes Nairaland might make money from impressions(also known as hits). This depends on the agreement with google and the owner of the advert.

2.) Why do people always say that Nairaland makes money from hits?
Newtons third law of motion states that "Action and Reaction are equal and opposite". You can see this on Nairaland when there are a lot of hits. The more hits a thread gets, the more likely people will click on the ads that appear on the thread. Take the thread of Jim Iyke for example, with 13000 hits, it is likely that about 500-1000 people will click on the advert that appear on the page. Now do the maths, if the owner of the ads pays google 2usd for each ads, google will give Nairaland 65% - 80 % of the money. Now suppose that Seun gets 0.8usd for each click, now multiple 0.8usd by 500 - 1000 people. That is only within 3hrs and just coming from one thread.

3.) Where do those ads on Nairaland come from?
The ads that appear on Nairaland comes from Adwords owned by Google. Adwords is a program own by google that enable website owners to advertise their websites.

4.)I don't see google adverts on Nairaland. What is wrong?
If you do not see adverts on Nairaland, it is likely that
a.) You are browsing Nairaland with a phone, or tablet device.
b.) You might be using one of software that block ads from appearing on a page. For example Adblocker
c.) You cannot differentiate an ad from a really website content

WebmastersRe: Let Me Fix Your Website Errors With This Software For FREE! by Chrisvicmall: 3:47am On Aug 13, 2012
Decryptor: @Adexy, you need to add .htm or .html attribute to your links. That will enable internet browsers recognize the fact that it a link which points to another page. it might work fine in the joomla interface but not at all in a web browser. As you can see in the pictures, the software (not me) pointed out d fact
Are you kidding me? .htm or .html is not neccessary. If that is the way your program works, that means our website(chrisvicmall.com) will be full of errors. What if the website ends with .php,.asp, .js,.ppt, etc, or without even an extension for example, www.example.com/nairaland/? You need to upgrade your software so that it will understand that some websites these days do not need to add .htm or .html

BusinessRe: Online Sellers Refuse Shipping To Nigeria (Pic) by Chrisvicmall: 2:27am On Aug 02, 2012
Kobojunkie: Hey maestro, @Kobojunkie has made it clear that @Kobojunkie uses USPS! I am not ashamed of that and I am not going to be forced to use DHL, FEDEX or UPS.

Also, @Kobojunkie has stated so many times now that Nigerians should not have to be forced to pay exorbitant prices to have goods shipped to them when they can as well demand better services from their National Postal Service. I don't see the sense in paying $250 or there abouts to ship an item that cost about $400 bucks. I should be able to save my customers money at the end of day.
My guy I understand your point. Sometimes DHL,FEDEX,and UPS might suck you raw but will you blame them when the post office service sucks. To make things worst, they sometimes open the parcel.

Though DHL,FEDEX, and UPS seem expensive does it make any different using Post Office service when they(Post Office) will charge your customers before giving them the item.
BusinessRe: Online Sellers Refuse Shipping To Nigeria (Pic) by Chrisvicmall: 1:58am On Aug 02, 2012
For people that ship to Nigeria, it is highly recommended that you use DHL, FEDEX , or UPS as your shipping option. I can bet my last kobo that Kobojunkie didn't use any of the shipping services I mention though I don't blame him. I have never heard of a missing product when you use any of these services no matter the location.

Though there are legitimate Nigerians that wants to purchase things online but the bad eggs are not making things else. For example, on our website Chrisvicmall(google it), we offer sellers the opportunity to sell their products to Nigeria without worry and also buyers to buy product without the need for a credit card or paypal. One day a buyer can to our website to purchase things, he start with paypal format and claim that he has already paid for the item. After verifying, I told the buyer that he is a complete scammer. The upon knowing that we know his trick, confessed that he is a scammer trying to make a living. Without shame, he was asking us for money and saying that we are stingy.

For guys that has shop on EBAY,AMAZON, etc that wants to reach Nigeria customers, we welcome you to use our service(Chrisvicmall). We highly recommend that you use DHL as the shipping option. Use our service, and I promise you won't worry about being scam again.
BusinessRe: Advice – What To Import! by Chrisvicmall: 1:49pm On Jul 28, 2012
Any product is good as long as you have the needed market. Besides, your business location plays a great role in your profit. The more money you have the more profit you will make.

Whatever you import, don't import Electric Generators. I do not see future with that product.

WebmastersRe: Can E-commerce Work In Nigeria? by Chrisvicmall: 2:45pm On Jul 23, 2012
@Poster

Judging from our experience on Chrisvicmall (our website)E-commerce works in Nigeria but the issue remains that most Nigerians still believe in "Cash and Carry". Many folks don't even have access to computer let alone shopping online.

In a nutshell, e-commerce works but it takes a great amount of work.
AdvertsRe: Need Help On How To Make Money Online by Chrisvicmall: 10:53am On Jul 22, 2012
@joeace2020

You sound like one of those guys that send unlimited emails to people claiming that they are sons and daughters of King of Saudi Arabia. With the line that goes like this "My father left 20million dollar in my account blah blah blah ".

Don't get me wrong Joeace, your business might be true but the way you market it makes any reasonable person think twice.

Anyway Mr Poster, anyone that tell you that making money is so easy must be kidding you. The fact about online business is that you have to remain focus and never give up hope if you want to succeed. Most times people get frustrated and give up. It is not easy brother.

Their are many ways you can make money online but always remember that it is not easy. The secret is "Do what you Love". You can make money online by any of this things
1.) Writing articles for people and you will get paid. Search for freelancer websites and subscribe to any.
2.) Through Adsense just like Nairaland is doing.
3.) Selling things online. If you don't have products to sell, sell for people. Just collect their products pictures and put them on websites like Chrisvicmall, Dealfish,Google Trader, etc. Don't forget to add your profit on each product. You can also collect commissions from the owners of the products since you are helping them to sell their product.

Finally search on Google for other ideas of how to make money online. Wish you good luck

BusinessRe: Has Nairaland Added To The Growth Of Your Business Or Gives You Connection by Chrisvicmall: 4:19am On Jul 20, 2012
I must confess that Nairaland help in bringing traffic to our company's website. Since I am one of the marketers, I used Nairaland as a medium. I reply to people's post especially when the question is related to our service. Unfortunately I woke up one day and discovered that The Cabals (Seun, Mukina2 and their Demi-gods) has banned our website from their website. Each time I made a post or reply a post with the website included, they hide my post.

If you had ask this question some weeks/months ago, I will "Yes" but currently Nairaland is not helping anymore. But who knows, maybe someone might turn my story around. Just waiting like the patient dog.

Anyway, the company I am talking about bears the same name as my username. Google it.
