get your facts straight. yes hard core heavy metal rock might be waning but the more mainstream linkin park evannescence type rock is still going strong. hip hop acts like 50cent rejoice when they sell 5-11 million copies of an lp but acts likered hot chilli peppers, u2 , linkin park and evanescence sell upwards of 15 million copies without even trying. and then when they work really hard we talking 20-25 million copies for a single album.

truth is reason for this is rock has more international appeal. u might want to dispute that but think thru and do your reseatch. your average japanese and chinese and asian folks dont feel 50cents and co. but you got mtv , you see the live concerts, these people eat up rock music. thats what accounts for their massive album sales.

so i guarantee you hip hop will die before rock does

you too are wrong. your average hip hop fan goes out and buys a 150 cd and plays his hip hop. we rock fans are more fanatical. we go against all odds . i started listening o rock in the earky nineties. i had to beg friends and family abroad to send me cds of my fav group then cranberries. and then the internet came and we spent 600 naira an hour downloading rock songs with the F u c k i n g slow nitel dial up connections. and then wireless came and we snuck into cafes , installed bearshare and kazaa on public systems, hid all traces, desktop icons and stuff and let our downloads run and at the end of the week we come in with our hard drives, from our pc's , pay the cafe attendant , open their systems, master and slave our drives, transfer our files, disconnect and close and then put more files on traffic.

BUT F U C K it , it was all worth it, when u finally get home and realise u are prob the first in uniben tho have the meteora album.it got easier with cd writers and flash drives but that was much later.

so my point being , hip hop concert have been coming to naija with a lot of cool foreign musicians that i love , but who cares. but tell me  evanescence is coming, Dude are you f u c k ing kidding me? i'll drop 100k . no joke!!!!

and i know about 50 more people who'll do the same. so we may be fewer  rock heads in naija, but our fanatism more than amply compensates

you say omawunmi was mimicking, if the competition wasnt about mimicking and seeing how well you can perform the works of other artistes then there would have told them to perform only their songs throughout the competition. or there would have told them tho perform only one song which fits their voice and their style and then the whole nigeria can vote.

what the f**k do you people think was the essence of bringing them out week after week? you think it was to hear them sing the same song or same style of songs week in and week out? it was to test their vocal abilities under varying conditions and across genres. u guys are so stupid you can't even realise that. or was timi not copying phil collins and michael bolton and luther vandross when he performed their songs? because he was bad at copying  not much else u people scream consistency. negating the very essence of the talent hunt

timis vocal talent and strength is seriously lacking, limited to only slow, nasal sounding songs. THATS THE TRUTH.

oma showed true talent and vocal versatility in all her songs, making each one her own. she had only one bad performance which was her mary j blidge, which wasnt so bad considering there had 1 week to prepare for 2 songs. but timi had almost three lacklustre appearances, singing the same type of songs week in week out with the only variation or attempt at spice being the cheap theatrics of pulling a girl from the crowd or his downright stupid running off the stage.

kaydee i used to have a high impression of your taste in music, but i guess i was way off. way way off.

for the avoidance of doubt. timi is a good singer, no doubt. but oma is way better.

damn what are we saying, timi can't even sing half as much as JArry the ghana boy, AND YOU ALL KNOW THIS. he sang only one song in top 24 but we were all blown away.

if the judges were going to choose without audience voting, timi would not have smelled top five. it would have been joan jodie, jarry, eric and omawunmi. i can assure u.


well like i said in my previous post for a competition where jarry was voted off because he didnt have fans, and jodie and joan were voted off before jerrylyn and temitayo , then i don't really expect much.
