For me I would say that the nigerian brought up child is better. He may seem to lack some priviledges . But as far as respect for our societal values go I'd rather raise my children in Naija where if "foolishness is enthroned in the heart of a child" I can use the "rod of correction" to drive it far from it, without having the authorities breathing down my neck. or what do you think |
Water melon gets my vote. |

Very unfortunate ! While I agree that that piece of news item could have caused havoc in the nation. I still think that the outright shutting down of Channels and like a newspaper reports, revocation of their license may just be a tard too harsh. Haba them never do this kin tin before now . There used to be something in law called 'FIRST OFFENDER' Abi my people them don comot am when we no dey look?. This could just be a blow to the great 'RULE OF LAW' we have been hearing so much of since this government came into office. |
While I agree that our nigerian officials like we say in pidgin english'dey fall our hand' the US should bot out of our buisness. We can try our criminals ourselves, thank you very much!!! The US as we know them will move heaven and earth to move their citizens away from a country in which they have commited a crime than have them tried in another man's country. They have squealed we can take it from there. They should storm back to their country and stop making it look like they are crying more than the bereaved |
I know of two ways preparing ofe nsala. One simple, one a little richer and more complex. I will post both for you Ofe Nsala I Ingredients: Pepper soup spices Meat/fish/snail (whichever you prefer) Pepper Onions Native Maggi Method: Grind spices, pepper, and onions Put all in a pot containing meat with water and boil Put in native maggi and salt, stir and its ready. If you want a thick consistency add yam paste Ofe Nsala II Ingredients: Dry/fresh fish Snail crab (optional) crayfish dry pepper salt Uziza seed ( a certain black longish pod used in peppersoup dishes. Can be sourced from igbo traders) Oluma (this local spice is round and is in a small pod) Onion Yam paste for thickening Water Method Clean fish/meat/crab and cut into desired sizes. Grind the oluma, uziza together with onions. As all the ingredients are ready put every thing into pot except for fish to prevent it from scaterring. Add yam paste to thicken allow every thing to boil together. Allow to thicken. Serve hot with pounded yam. Enjoy |
Instead of the regular stew on rice try this recipe. Ingredients: 4milk tins of palmnuts (also called banga in the edo/delta state) 4 large carrots 2l large onions A clove of garlic string beans 4 large peppers (tatarshe) A few leaves of cabbage (between 2 to 4 sheaves) Chilli peppers (to your taste) A pinch of thyme A cube of your preferred cubed seasoning 1kg beef or chicken Method: 1. Washand boil the palm nuts in a little water and salt . Boil till soft enough and extract the liquid. 2. To extract the liquid you will need to pound it in mortar adding water at intervals and then scooping out the liquid int another bowl or pot for use in your cooking. 3. Pour liquid into pot and set to boil . 4.While this is on fire put your meat with the onions, garlic, cubed seasoning to boil in another pot . 5. Next chop up your vegetables( onions garlic string beans),and add to the boiling palm nut sauce. 6. Add the boiling meat and a bit of the stock to the palmnut sauce. 7. Allow to simmer together to integrate the flavors. Check seasoning. Serve as an accompaniment to rice |
Great Edo people, wa naigbia o. Anyone out there with any edo folk tales in his or her kitty would love to get some. Could you send it to my email isahedlene1@yahoo.com. Would be most grateful. Lets remember our folktales in them are our almost forgotten values. I am Benin proudly married to an estako man. Folk tales from all parts of edo state. |
Lets hope they come with better and cheaper services. They are so welcome |
This is more my thing. Here goes. I have come across like 6 different ways of preparing Egusi soup Iwill however put one acoss to you. This is called Efere Ikon.It is a calabar version of preparing the soup. Ingredients: 1 cup of egusi; 1 cigarette cup of crayfish, 2 small onions, Ikg meat, periwinkles(optional) good stockfish, bitterleaves to ur taste. Lets talk method. Boil meat and/or fish in a little water after a while add a little more water. Add all other ingredients except crayfish . Allow to simmer. Add palmoil.(You may add potash to reduce bitterness of the leaves, if ur stomach tolerates it) Leave to cook for about 10mins.Add crayfish and simmer for another 5 minutes. Serve with eba, fufu, pounded yam, semolina, ground rice. Infact whatever takes your fancy. Hope this helps. Watch out for this up-coming blog on varying your regular cooking for variety. |
Na im una dey ask casually like that. If there is a better and more respected word than like, in fact who says I like ponmo I dont like it at all. I love the meat. SUE Me. In my home its one of the settler of misunderstanding between myself and my beloved. Ponmo in the soup means all sins are forgiven. Ponmo dey overtry. |
