To peg the rate, FX must be readily available for those that needs it but this is impossible because Nigeria is not earning much $, and 85% of the $ in Nigeria is being stashed by politicians thereby causing its dearth. All things being equal, if the Official rate and parallel rate converge, and the demand for $ exceed the supply of $, what do you think would happen? People will definitely source for $ anyhow anyhow. This is simple economics, as long as FG is not generating enough FX to atleast be at par with the demand for it, there will always be speculative trading. It is simple logic. sorry i have to chip in. Now, how is tinubu paying the debts? With still the same high cost of governance, no exportation to earn FX, no money from Oil because buhari already sold in advance. And what assurance do you have that subsidy is totally removed when Nigeria still import same Oil with more landing cost than before. With the current exchange rate, fuel is suppose to be sold above 1k. Nigeria is still paying subsidy, so tinubu shot himself at the foot for not putting some things in place before taking the decisions he took.
