Agriculture / Re: What Effect Does Lime Have On Concrete Fish Pond? by Chux6203: 7:15pm On Jul 27, 2012
It is not necessary to use lime in a concrete pond. All you needed to do to neutralise the effect of the cement was to use plantain leaves to rub the body of your pond and soak the leaves in the pond for some days and wash later with water or you simply put 2-3 tied bags of poultry litter into the pond filled with water. You leave the litter in the pond for 2 weeks and you remove and wash the pond with water. Lime is mainly used in earthen pond to fight fungi infection. You may however stock your pond as the effect of your lime must have worn out

Politics / Re: PDP In Edo To Take Adams Oshiomhole To Court by Chux6203: 4:13am On Jul 18, 2012
PDP is a terrible party sha. Instead of planning on how to win the state through the ballot box they were busy planning on how to rig. They initially planned to manipulate the elections through the revision of the voters register at the 11th hour a situation that would had seen them moving the names of prospective voters from one local Government Area to another and thus disenfranchising them but ACN stopped them. Next they carefully made sure that many voters in Benin would not see their names on the voters register. Again they made sure voting materials would not get to polling booths earlier than 11am in Benin City where INEC Headquarters is situated so that many people would not be accredited on time to vote before 6pm. This they did through INEC commissioner Mr Igbani who was in charge of Benin City even though voting materials got to Esanland before 8am. This worked for them. Then they started warning people not to come out and vote that there would be too much violence on election day but people ignored them, then they started buying voters cards for N3000 each and were destroying them. Finally on election day they were giving people N5000 to vote for PDP but in all they were defeated with their corruption.
Agriculture / Re: Catfish Farming: My Story by Chux6203: 9:35pm On Jul 12, 2012
Maggots are an excellent protein and fat source. Commonly called maggot meal, has almost all the components found in fish meal but with a higher fat content. In fact research has been done on its partial/total replacement of fishmeal in fish diet in Nigeria. But of note is the question of how many kg you can produce per volume of poultry waste (or offals) and how to manage the smell that follows the maggot production. And finally, how often you have to drain your pond water if not an earthen pond.

Still, they are a good feed for fish and can alternate with foreign and other local feeds.

To generate required quantity of maggots for your fish, collect enough animal/meat offals into several drums if possible daily. If you are using poultry waste collect enough waste. Harvest the maggots first thing in the mornings or after sunset. Cover the poultry/animal waste properly the way you cover a pit toilet leaving on a small opening for flies to enter. That way you eliminate the smell
Agriculture / Re: Catfish Farming: My Story by Chux6203: 2:57am On Jul 12, 2012
Thanks for your enquiry on maggot generation. If you are using meat or animal offals, simply collect them daily from the abattoir into a covered drum with am opening for flies to go in and lay eggs and within 2-3 days you will get maggots. If you are using chicken intestines please endeavour to boil them before use to avoid transferring whatever disease that was in the chicken to your fish
For poultry waste, heap them in a enclosure that flies can enter and soak them with water within 2-3 days you will generate enough maggots to feed your fish

Coppens and Durantee feeds which is richer/better for catfish production in Nigeria. Please back up your answer with facts
Agriculture / Re: Catfish Farming: My Story by Chux6203: 5:20pm On Jul 09, 2012
I find it so funny that people who claim to be successful catfish farmers are only interested in selling formulars instead of putting online what they use to help others and in the process improve on what they do. for a start I believe from the standpoint of daily practise that 4 bags of coppens is grossly too small to feed 1000 pcs of postfingerlies for one month except if they are underfed.
for me I have been in the catfish business for over five (5) years in Benin City and I am successful so to say and I am ready to share my formular online for people to learn from freely.
I stock postfingerlies bought from reputable farms and I feed with foreign feed preferably Durantee or coppens 1.8 for (1-2 weeks) then I use 2-3mm, 3-4 weeks (1 Month) I feed with foreign feed in the mornings and maggots in the evenings. you can generate maggots freely by culturing poultry wastes or animal wastes from the abattoir. they are very cheap source of protein
After one month I switch to local pelleted feed usually 3mm with strong protein bias eg: Ground local fish particles 45% Blood meal 10%, full fat soya 10% soya cake 5% Ground Nut Cake (GNC) 15% Maize 5% Peenut 5% Bone meal 3%, starter fish premix, lysine & methaonine, Industrial Vitamin C, Vitamn B and palm oil for energy.
from the third (3) month to the fourth month I change emphasise from protein to carbohydrate to them to gain up to 1.5kg by the end of week 4 as follows:
Local fish meal (uaually bought in the market as broken fish and later ground) 22% Blood meal 8%
Maize 30% peenuts 12% Soya cake 10% GNC 15% Bone 3% finisher Premix, Lysine, Methaonine, Ind. Vit C, Vit. B and palmoil. With this formular and good water management coupled with adequate spacing your fish can hit 1.5kg in 4 months if your fingerlies are good

My take on this HND/BSC debate is that the Diploma Holders can afford to equate themselves to Degree Holders in naija, but I know that the debate is fundamentally between the 3-4 credits you need to enter the polythecnic and the 5-6 credits you need to enter the university
Politics / Re: Edo State Governorship Debate (live On Ait) by Chux6203: 9:04pm On Jul 05, 2012
When asked about his record of service in the army, General Charles (PDP) said he joined the army in 1973 and retired in 2011. That is 38 years of service instead of the approved 35 years. It is obvious the man falsified his army records to serve more than the 35 years. I hear the man is hell-bent on becoming Edo Governor to gain immunity from prosecution over embezzlement of army pensioners funds

Sports / Re: Red Card: Was Sani Kaita's Lunacy Chemically Induced? by Chux6203: 10:56am On Jun 18, 2010
I am not blaming Kaita for the defeat by Greece who scored their first world cup goal since 1994 yesterday and also won their first match against a hapless Nigerian team that is nothing but only a pyramid standing on its head. The problem with the Nigeria team is that it has neither a structure nor a foundation or a character due chiefly to the ineptitude and emptiness of "No future Ambition" - sorry NFF. The Super Eagles will go back to winning ways again if the team is coached by a disciplinarian like Siasia who should do away with tired legs like Kanu, Yobo, Yakubu, Martins etc. The team should be built around the home based players mixed with serious minded foreign based ones who would be proud to wear the Green White Green colours not some mercineries who are only after their pockets.
Tell me what did Kanu, Utaka etc go to South Africa to do if they will not play yet patriots like Anichebe & Kalu Uche who the highest goal scorer during the qualifiers were sacrificed to make way for them.
If Eyinmba Football Club has won the CAF cup twice since the year 2000 and last year Nigeria had two teams in the semi finals Heartland and Kano Pillars with Heartland playing in the finals it shows that the home based boys are good. Take a look at Egypt, about 90% of their players are from their local league with less than 10% foreign based and Egypt is arguably the best team in the continent so I think we should copy their example and look inwards and the team handed over to Siasia who would be paid in Naira not in scarce foreign to exchange to groom the next generation of Super Eagles what we have now are lazy vultures.
Politics / Re: Northern Govs Laud Fg Oil Exploration In Region by Chux6203: 4:38pm On Jun 16, 2010
Oil exploration has been on for the past 25years in the Chad basin ie in the present day Borno State without luck . what exists on the Nigerian side of the Chad Basin is mainly gas. Between 1987 & 2001, NNPC thru one of its subsidiary coys NPDC Ltd drilled a total of 25 wells without success. So the present effort will surely be futile. Why the Northerners believe that oil exploration must continue in the basin is simply because of the presence of oil in the Cameroonian and Chadian sides of the basin. The whole thing is just politics and a complete waste of public fund.

Sports / Re: TB Joshua Prayed For Ghana To Win The U-20? by Chux6203: 6:39pm On Oct 20, 2009
Well methinks that a Prophet is not without honour only in his country. Why should the prophet pray for the Nigerian flying Eagles who did not not recognise his relevance nor solicit his support. The Bible says that wisdom is the principal thing. Nigerians are not wise and that is why the nation is failing in all fronts
President Atta Mills of Ghana is a member of The Sinagogue Church and we can see the transformation in Ghana. Let Nigerians continue to be "wise" in their own eyes while the country drifts towards disintegration.
Anyone still doubting the role of Prophet T B Joshua in Ghana's Starlets victory at the under 20 WC should just watch the repeat broadcast of last sunday's service on Emmanuel TV.
In answer to Ambassador J Fashanu's question on The Super Eagles qualification for the 2010 world cup, The prophet said that Kenya is not the problem of super Eagles but the outcome of the match between Mozambique/Tunisia. He said the Eagles ll beat Kenya but that Nigerians should pray for Tunisia not to be in their elements. So those of you fellas in Lagos who detest the Man of God, You may use the outcomes of the matches to test his prophetic calling vis a vis those of your big grammar speaking Pastors if they ll dare venture into this area that ll definitely expose their emptiness
