The victorious u-23 players who won gold at the just concluded African Under 23 tournament in Senegal have just arrived Abuja ,with Nigerians happy at the prospect of the Samson Siasia led team partaking in the Rio 2016 Olympics. Head coach Samson Siasia speaking to the media assured Nigerians that they will do their best at the showpiece event next year.

“I’m very happy to have won this trophy, even if it was difficult, but the essential thing was done,” Siasia told cafonline.com. "It was not easy for us taking into considerations the teams we met in the first and second round. Algeria is a good team and they showed that on the pitch, and playing well. My players also did well by scoring the goals we needed to win the match. Now we will continue to work, correct our mistakes and improve our game. I was coach of Nigeria during the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008, when we reached the final, and in 2016 we will aim to do more than reaching the final by winning the trophy,” he added. Senator David Mark returned to his country home, Otukpo, Benue State on Thursday, December 10, the first since his election was nullified by the Court of Appeal in Makurdi. He was accompanied by Members of the National Assembly from Benue and other states. Addressing the mammoth crowd who trooped out enmasse to welcome him, the former Senate President urged them to remain calm in spite of the 'provocative' judgement of the Appeal Court.

"Your turn out today shows that the election shall be won and lost by Zone C people. Though the Court of Appeal has made its pronouncement; but I'm happy the Judges shall not take part in the voting process. This is not a PDP election; it's an Idoma election" Mark said. "This is indeed a trying period for us as a people! I encourage you to be strong and take it in your own hands; if not, we shall be forgotten in the map of Nigeria", he added.

The Court of Appeal has upheld the election of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki as the lawmaker representing Kwara Central Senatorial District.

Saraki celebrated the victory via his social media platform while pledging that the 8th Senate will be people oriented.

“Delighted to hear Court of Appeal upheld my election as Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial District.Thank you for all your support & prayers. Rest assured that I’m committed to making sure the 8th Senate is people oriented,”

he posted on his Facebook account.

The vice chancellor of Kaduna State University, KASU, William Qurix, on Tuesday said out of 3,160 graduates produced by the university, 38 graduated with First Class degree.

Mr. Quxis, who made the disclosure at a pre-convocation briefing in Kaduna, said the First Class graduates emerged from the faculties of Arts, Science and Social and Management Sciences.

Women's brains age better than men’s but their bodies do not cope as well, research suggests. Even though female life expectancy has increased over the past 20 years, elderly women spend less time with memory problems than they did, a study shows.

The unexpected finding goes against most predictions, which would expect rates of dementia to increase as people live for longer. The same trend, however, was not seen among men, whose total time spent in a state of ‘mild cognitive impairment’ increased slightly.

Last night experts said they could not definitively explain their findings but they suspect that the vast improvements in education for women may be behind the trend.
