Those recommendations would have taken care of all these unnecessary agitations. Though am not an Igbo man but am in support of their struggle totally. We(Nigerians) are just deceiving ourselves ain't noo oneness in this shit!

Nollywood actor, Alexx Ekubo, who is the first runner up at the 2010 Mr. Nigeria contest, says he is still very single and searching for the woman who can handle him.

In a recent chat with VillageSquare TV , he disclosed that he is single for now and still searching for that right person who can handle him. He noted that he is very prim and proper and likes things to be a certain way.

It will be recalled that some time last year, the handsome Nigerian model and actor, was purportedly linked with the Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson. The duo were alleged to have been dating secretly for some time, according to a popular entertainment site in Ghana, Dailypost reports.

Following the alleged relationship between these two, Yvonne at that time wrote on her Instagram handle and captioned a photo in which they both laid side by side.

“In bed…onset…with this hotttttie @alexxekubo. Why am I still Single? #secondary virgin?” she wrote @yvonnenelsongh.

Notwithstanding the allegations, the actor said, “I am single for now, still searching; searching for that right one that can handle all these greatness that I have in-built in me.

“I am a handful. I am the kind that makes sure this and that must be proper, must be done right.

“I am not a heart breaker, I am a sweetheart. Look at my eyes,” he said.

According to reports, Richard Branson's Virgin Atlantic Aiwars has laid off all their Nigerian cabin crew. They were allegedly only given three weeks notice and no severance package regardless of their length of service.

The air-hostesses they sacked were about 20 and last year, they closed down their Nigerian call centre and let go of all the Nigerian staff. Owner, Richard Branson had said he was weary about doing business in Nigeria? Could this be the gradual pull out?

According to reports from PM News, Former President of Nigeria, Gen Olusegun Obasanjo, expressed his concern about the level of corruption in Africa while speaking at the opening ceremony of the First International Conference of the African Studies Association of Africa held on Wednesday, October 14, in Ibadan, Oyo state.

The Conference is Tagged "African Studies in the Twenty-First Century: Past, Present and Future". It is a-three-day conference and it is reported that prominent scholars and academicians are in attendance. the event that was hosted by the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan.

The Former President in his speech stressed that one of the main challenges for the African continent was corruption, and urged African nations to rise up and defeat it.

He went ahead to stress that corruption destroys the deep moral fabric of the African society. According to him, stealing from the community is a grave offence that puts permanent dent on the integrity and values of the family.

His words;

“But today, the corrupt is venerated. The impression that Africans have a cultural disposition to be corrupt is a travesty of the truth. We are hospitable but hospitality is different corruption,”

Obasanjo also recollected the cold war that made things worse for Africa and hindered development on the continent as the Europeans used Africans as slaves.

“We got loans, some dubious, others used to acquire weapons and we ended up in debt and instability that gave us only more pains, coups and counter-coups and bad governance. Some of the worst dictators in the world emerged from Africa with the full endorsement and encouragement of outside influence."

“I wish we do not have to dig into the misery and pains of the past, but history cannot be changed. What we must do is to forge a new front and achieve better output today as we write the history for tomorrow. Yesterday is gone but tomorrow is yet to come and the knowledge and understanding of yesterday can make us chart a better course for tomorrow, hence a great history,” he said.

According to This Day, Obasanjo further noted that Africa was fast moving out of bad governance and corruption, shunning human rights violations.

“Vices which were commonplace during the reckless years of authoritarian regimes in Africa have significantly reduced. The right to free speech, the right to express a different view point, the right to draw personal conclusions based on self-instituted research and to query certain cultural practices and beliefs are part of the huge liberty that the continent of Africa now boasts of,” he stated.

Speaking about the future of African studies, Obasanjo noted that the success of the studies is connected with the intellectual, philosophical, ideological and institutional transformation that is taking place in various socio-cultural and political systems in different countries.

“African studies should not be satisfied with merely contributing to the accumulation of knowledge about Africa. Scholars should have novel priority which should slant towards indigenous-based tradition of knowledge. In line with the necessity of making African studies a wider project, African scholars should not be satisfied with merely contributing knowledge that is capitalised on and managed by the West,” he said.

Controversial on-air-personality, Derele Edun, who has been under so much criticism from entertainment fans in Nigeria and beyond for lack of clarification about his sexuality, has finally said something about his sexuality and also revealed what his marriage ceremony will look like.

Recently in an interview with Hip Tv, Derele took some time to clear the on his sexuality, style and marriage plans.

Derele said:

“So many people have labeled me bi-sexual and lots more but I have never come out to either claim or disclaim my sexuality to anyone. So what about my sexuality? What about it? I have been labeled bi-sexual, heterosexual, asexual, pseudo-sexual, sexual-sexual, homosexual, hip-sexual, new-sexual and all of that. I just narrow it down to two words- I am a sexual outlaw. Take it or take it, I don’t think I have really come out to say that I am. I have not claimed to be any; I have not claimed any preference of any sort.”

Speaking about his wedding, Derele disclosed that he plans to have a wedding ceremony that will look like a carnival. He also revealed that he is not a fan of the whole VIP thing and that every one will be equal on that day.

“I think I will like to have a wedding where it will be a carnival, and everyone will come. I am not going to do invites and all that stuff. I will just do billboards everywhere and invite everyone. There will be no VIPs ‘cos I don’t believe in all that VIP crap. Everyone will be a VIP that day.”

Denrele is the only son of his father amidst two sisters.

In case some of you have not heard, APC national publicity secretary Lai Mohammed filed a N500m lawsuit again PDP national publicity secretary, Olisa Metuh, for defamation of character. Mohammed claims that he was defamed in a September 20th press release sent out by Metuh, where he, Metuh, accused Mohammed of embezzling funds meant for the fencing of an airport in one of the APC-controlled states in the South-West and that he collected money to supply ambulances but never did.

Metuh, in the statement, had said he wondered how Lai Mohammed had the audacity to speak on corruption when he was 'a personal aide to one of the most corrupt politicians to ever bestride the political space of the country.”

Metuh has reacted to the reports of the lawsuit, saying he's not aware. His statement after the cut


The attention of the Office of The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been drawn to reports in some section of the media, suggesting that the National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has filed a suit against Chief Olisa Metuh.

The media reports have it that Lai Mohammed instituted a N500 million suit at a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja, seeking compensation for alleged defamation of his person by some issues raised by Chief Olisa Metuh in response to one of his (Mohammed’s) statements.

For the avoidance of doubt, this office wishes to state categorically that Chief Olisa Metuh or any of his lawyers are not aware of any such suit by Lai Mohammed, nor have they been served. Also, none of the newspapers that carried the story published the said suit.

If it is true that any legal action has been instituted, it should not be limited to newspaper reports, unless it is meant for the media, as Chief Metuh is a prominent Nigerian whose office and residential address are well known.

We are very much aware that Lai Mohammed as a ministerial nominee may have been nervous and apprehensive of the requirements of his upcoming screening in the Senate, and as a renown propagandist, may have decided to orchestrate reports of the said suit, to plead subjudice as a defence ostensibly to stop queries by senators on issues of integrity.

This office however, insists that if indeed, Lai Mohammed has instituted any case against Chief Metuh, we charge him to ensure that he prosecutes it to the very end.

Nevertheless, we invite Nigerians to note the relentless attempt by APC leaders, including Lai Mohammed, to threaten, intimidate, harass and cow Chief Metuh into submissive opposition.

Our advice however, to Lai mohammed on the issue of Senate clearance, is that he should not panic, but be humble, as his palm kernel in this regard has already been cracked by a benevolent and forgiving Senate President.

Finally, we counsel Lai Mohammed not to bring his propaganda, divisive and destructive tendencies to national assignment as a minister.

Veteran Presenter Benedicta Ehanire, joined NTA Benin as a young school leaver of 16 years in 1980. She blossomed in the industry through hard work and also had time to care for her family so much. She retired last week and had a retirement service on Sunday in Benin City. Lots of colleagues had so much positive things to say about her. She retired as the head of News and current affairs, NTA Benin.
