On Monday 13th July, 2015, Naira hit another record low of 241 against the dollar at the parallel market as the Central Bank of Nigeria’s restrictions on foreign exchange sale fuelled unofficial trade in dollars, Reuters reported.

The ban on importers from accessing the Nigerian foreign exchange markets for the importation of 41 items had led to the volatility of the naira-dollar exchange rate at the black market.

Since June 23 when the new forex rule became operational, the naira has fallen by 10.5 per cent from 218 to 241 against the greenback.

Kidnappers operating within Aba, Abia State at the weekend killed a woman, Mrs. Chioma Chukwu­ra, who they had earlier abducted.

The late Mrs. Chukwura, who resided in Aba with her family, had travelled to Calabar, Cross River State with her driver, one Chikodi.

From Calabar, she and her driver headed to Port Harcourt in Rivers State for an undisclosed transaction when on reaching a point at Azumini in Ukwa East Local Gov­ernment, she was kidnapped by gunmen while the driver escaped into the bush.

A source told Crime Watch Today that some days after she was kidnapped, her captors opened up channel of communica­tion with the husband and demanded N10 million ransom, which was reduced to N2 million.

The place where the money should be kept was agreed upon by the kidnappers and the widower.

However, as the husband was said to have fulfilled his own side of the bargain, the kidnappers were said to have, while attempting to collect the money became suspicious that they were being trailed by some security operatives, went back and killed the woman and dumped her body inside the bush.

When nothing was heard about the kid­nappers and their victim, her family alerted soldiers of the 144 battalion, Asa who found the body under a shrub.

Serena Beuford, 27, of Boston is in a coma after her butt implants exploded while doing squats for an Instagram Video at Planet Fitness. Doctors say Serena Beuford is in serious condition after her butt implants exploded.

Beuford was working out with a friend at Planet Fitness in downtown Boston. After Beuford’s friend finished working out, she attempted to record Beuford doing squats to post the video on Instagram.


As Beuford was squatting, she heard a loud pop; which prompted her to immediately stop. Soon after the popping sound, Beuford fell to the floor screaming in agony from the pain. Other gym members rushed to her rescue until medical services arrived.

I heard a loud popping noise followed by the woman falling to the floor. She was screaming 'my a** is gone!!!' I had no idea what she was talking about until I saw her cushion like butt missing when EMS took her out the gym.

President Buhari has sacked all Service Chiefs. Their sack was made known by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina while he spoke to state house correspondents this afternoon.

The fired service chiefs include the Chief of Defence staff, and the heads of Army, Navy and the Air Force. More details later.
