What you're talking about is decades away before it impacts the child's life fatality. What the mother gave him has no impact on the hernia. Hernia is a surgical problem which runs a progressive course and is not reversed or slowed down by any medication. As for the herbal concoctions, they won't take long to have negative effects on the child because his organs are still developing and delicate. They're more harmful in children than in adults. |

Imagine One death 2 divorce from a particular tribe n someone is telling me not to b cautious Your bigoted family is the problem! How about your tribe lady that was also divorced?? What a hate-filled and troublesome family! Work on yourselves in that family, otherwise the divorce will continue no matter who you marry. |

Goodnewsforlife: let me ask u a question
U have 4 attempts, u have used 3 on a particular outcome n it turn out negative. Will u still use your last chance on d same thing that failed u 3 times? In the first 2, the families of the men, which i believe are your tribesmen, caused the problem by frustrating the wives. Why are you putting blames on the wives(1st one chased away after her husband's death, 2nd one frustrated by a wicked, probably tribalistic mother in law) instead of these wicked families from your tribe?? I can swear you're yoruba, and the families involved here were just exhibiting the full tribalistic triaits that most of you are known for. I pity women from other tribes, especially Igbo, who are foolish enough to marry into such a tribe with so many hateful bigots. Such marriage is bound to fail right from the outset. |

Originalsly: Why was disc prolapse in the conversation when the OP said he was diagnosed LS? Why would you make complicated LS the focus when the treatment points to an uncomplicated case? Why change the subject? What I quoted from Google is what is relevant to the topic As a surgeon ....who fully understand LS ..... check your comments and see if they really help OP. I'm done this guy self. Well, it's always like that when arguing with laymen who have to learn from Google, which is not a medical school and can never be. "they said is a lumbar spondylosis as a result of disc burger ,on S1,L1,L2. The pain is becoming too much, it unbearable, 24hrs I m in pain both day and night" Read the above excerpt from the Op's first post and learn how Disc Prolapse(what he called "disc burger" came into the discussion. That's the cause of his severe, incessant pain that's not responding to medications, including opioids. The bulging(prolapsed) disc is now pressing/impinging on his nerve. What he has now is NERVE pain(Neuropathic pain), not simple bone pain from the vertebrae. Disc degeneration and prolapse are parts of the sequelae of Lumbar spondylosis. So, at this stage, we're no longer dealing with the simple, uncomplicated lumbar spondylosis that is just the equivalent of a simple Osteoarthritis in the long bones(appendicular skeleton). |

drimzsmoke: 1. Oga surgeon, when last did you prescribe "tramadol" for a patient 2. Oga surgeon, oya let me rephrase, Tramadol alone can't relieve pain of lumbar spondylosis I don't argue with street vrchins. But to clear you befuddled brain, the Op reported he was given other medications in addition to the opioid. That's standard prescription following the step ladder approach to pain management. |

Originalsly: For clarity...is lumbar spondylosis complicated and requires surgery as a first option? You seem to know more about me than I know about myself....are you a brain surgeon? I know of no herbal concoction to treat his condition or alleviate the intense pain. Someone asked Op if surgery was discussed and the answer was no . Why? Where did you see lumbar spondylosis in my post you replied to? Some you can just be crazy sometimes and don't know how to how make reasonable arguments. Now that you've changed from Disc prolapse to lumbar spondylosis(LS), in complicated cases of LS where the osteophytes(new bones) or disc degenerations have caused nerve or cord compression, surgery, and not conservative mgt, becomes the standard treatment. You can't fully understand these things by scampering to Google searches. |

Brandiebird: I'm sorry it took you so long to realise that the child had hernia. It's true that the only cure for it is an operation. I wish you knew this earlier because you could have saved for it over those 4 years. If left untreated it could kill so continue with those herbal remedies until you are able to find the money for an operation. The best bet is for someone to pay the hospital directly so if you could find an account to pay for the operation then that would help. Anyone willing to help wants to avoid being scammed because some nairalanders have made it their business to come online for every financial issue they have. If she continues with those herbs, which are not different from poison, she's going to shut down that kid's kidneys and liver, and come back again to solicit for funds for dialysis and medical bills |

Originalsly: I guess you have deep knowledge on this medical problem because your friend had surgery last week. All surgeries have risks... not all are high risks. Your friend had surgery.... has it taken care of the problem? ... or are there complications that cause other serious problems? This you cannot know because one week is not enough time to assess the success of the surgery.... if he is back to normal. Surgery is l recommended only as a last resort Did your friend go straight to surgery to take care of the problem? If yes.... then I guess he went on your deep knowledge advice that risk is risk. If no ... why didn't you advise him to? ... as you're suggesting to OP?
We are here to learn ..... let's try to focus on the message and not the messenger. Stop saying what you don't know, this guy. I'm a Surgeon and I'm not competing with you in this area. Disc prolapse with nerve or cord compression is different from the uncomplicated types and is a surgical emergency. Surgery is the first option is such situations, irrespective of whether the patient is in Nigeria, Canada or UAE. The Uncomplicated ones are first managed conservatively. I know your final goal is to drag this Op towards taking your usual herbal concoctions. I have let you know several times in the past that there's no road in that direction. Allow the guy to follow orthodox care, even if it includes surgery. Don't mislead him. Every procedure has some potential complications, and that doesn't mean the patient must experience them. |
