Many men in Nigeria have undeveloped emotions, what they want is to walk all over their wives without any confrontation or need for accountability as long as they feed her or other responsibilities they provide her, as if her Father wasn't doing that untill they met her at 25 years upward. What is causing problems now is that, women are waking up and rejecting their maltreatment but the men think it's their right to do as they please to their wives, and so it turns to fights.
