The 16 Rivers state PDP governorship aspirants who boycotted the party primary have vowed to cast protest vote against the PDP in the 2015 general elections. The aspirants also expressed shock that all their agitations to get the attention of the National leadership of the PDP to wade into the “perceived injustice” in the state fell on deaf ears. At a media briefing held in Port Harcourt, one of the aspirants, Gabriel Pidomson said “since they refused to listen to us, we will show them with our votes, our oil and gas.” Another aspirant who is the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Prof. Don Baridam lamented the kind of politics being played in Nigeria. Prof. Baridam said, “there is no democracy in Nigeria. There is nothing like democracy. A situation where one man drafts a list in his house and it is used to win election for him is unfortunate.” Similarly, a son of the oil magnate in Rivers state, Dumo Lulu-Briggs said it was unfortunate for anyone to think that a primary election held in Rivers state. Meanwhile, former Minister of state for Education, Nyesom Wike who clinched the PDP governorship ticket has extended a hand of fellowship to the other aspirants. DOWNLOAD: Daily Post Blackberry App Wike said his hearts are open to receive any of them who wants to work with him, adding that he cannot lead the state alone. “We need to work together to retake Rivers state. I have forgiven them all. I apologise to all those that I may have offended. I beg them in the name of God, let’s come together and build Rivers state.” In the meantime, the PDP Chairman in Rivers state, Felix Obuah has congratulated Wike and hoped that his emergence as the party flagbearer will mark the end of the reign of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Meanwhile, the APC in Rivers state have celebrated the emergence of Wike as the PDP flagbearer. Publicity Secretary of the party, Chris Finebone said, ” we are happy that Wike has finally emerged. “With his emergence, our job is half done. We will trounce Nyesom Wike at the poll. dailypost.ng/2014/12/09/rivers-2015-16-aspirants-threaten-protest-apc-celebrates-emergence-wike/ |

Op, you can't say all PDP members are Lunas na, I mean lunatics.... Its just only a few of them abt 98%.... So please take note... |
People will never understand, When I watched a documentary of Jonathan's 2011 Campaign, he promised 2015 to be the end of his tenure, he said "4 years is enough for anybody, to handle electricity, unemployment, and poverty. The video also showed where he sat with 20 pdp governors, to mKe the agreement. Nigerians, I beg u people, In Rivers State, if Wike wins, if at all he will ever, he is only here to fight, not to do anything. Be has no goal, no vision. If he performed well as a minister I would had supported him. Nigeria. Students encountered the worst strike action during his reign. You hear him say "I want to chase Apc away, is that a goal" |
2cato:My brother, he is not the only one that has had such experience, Rivers has a lot of thugs who don't reason with brains, Wike and his supporters believe firmly in Violence, Let a pdp member tell why he (Wike) deserves to be a Governor... |
More than 2,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party from Rivers State stormed the national headquarters of the PDP in Abuja to protest the alleged plan by the party and the Presidency to foist a former Minister of State (Education), Mr. Nyesom Wike, on them as the party’s governorship candidate. The protesters also complained against perceived injustice meted out to them during the last Saturday PDP House of Assembly primaries in the state. The protesters were said to have started arriving the secretariat as early as 6.30am and took over the entire premises of the secretariat even before the arrival of its members of staff. They carried various placards with inscriptions such as “Wike can’t be our governor,” “We want clearance to contest 2015 elections,” “Give us back our money,” “We are tired of a two-man state exco,” “Felix Obuh must go,” “Wike has bought the soul of Rivers PDP,” and “Criminals have been cleared to be PDP aspirants in River State.” They also sang different war songs as they clustered in front of the party secretariat. Policemen, who were mobilised to the scene, looked in awe as the protesters erected a pavilion with which they blocked the entrance to the building. The more than 70 policemen were led by two assistant commissioners. The National Women Leader of the party, Chief Kema Chikwe, who attempted to address the protesters around 1.47pm, was harassed and was hurriedly escorted out of the troubled zone by the police. The National Vice chairman of the party in the South-South, Dr. Cairo Ojugboh, who also came to pacify the angry protesters, was asked to leave the party’s headquarters by the protesters. He obeyed the order. The protesters forced members of the NWC of the party and their members of staff to stay away from office. Some of the protesters, who openly admitted to being ex-militants, locked all the three gates leading to the premises and stopped people from going in and out of the party headquarters. A team of the protesters was positioned at each entrance of the gates, in order to make sure that their orders were obeyed. The protesters also carried a mock casket, which they said signified that their enemies had been buried as they danced singing mournful songs to depict the alleged death of their enemies. At some point, the environment became charged as the protesters took their protest beyond the PDP secretariat to the premises of a bank situated opposite the PDP secretariat, as well as other business premises around Wuze Zone 5 Area where the party secretariat was located. Some members of staff who had reported early to commence the day’s duty also fled for their lives. A police inspector with the name tag, Dauda Kato, who tried to help a member of staff of the party was hit with a stick in the face by one of the protesters. A reinforcement team of policemen was later brought in to complement those already on ground, but they all watched helplessly as the protesters shouted, sang and danced round the area. Some of the protesters were alleged to be carrying guns, an allegation that was said to have emboldened them to dare the policemen. One of the protesters, who agreed to speak with journalists, Mr. Davis Saloka, from Eleme constituency, said they were at the PDP secretariat to oppose the “open robbery perpetrated against us by the PDP.” He said 107 members of the party paid to obtain the expression of interest and nomination forms, but only 32, whom he said were “Wike’s boys,” were given “dubious clearance” while the rest of them were disqualified from the race. He said, “We all bought forms to participate in the PDP primary but what we saw was out of the ordinary. We attended the screening exercise but we didn’t know our fate until Friday night when we saw a pasted list, saying only 32 persons were cleared to participate in the election. “We discovered that each person nominated from Wike’s camp was cleared and given automatic ticket while the rest of us were screened out. “The most annoying thing is that we were not told the reason why we were disqualified from the so-called party primary, and it is more curious to note that all we saw was a list that was neither signed nor was it on a PDP letterhead, but just contained the names of Wike’s boys as the only ones cleared to participate in the party primary.” www.punchng.com/news/anti-wike-protesters-sack-pdp-headquarters/ |

As far as am concerned, this country will neer be better under Jonathan. Presidents, Governors, Do. Better in thir first tenure, and may sway in the 2nd but this Jonathan's 1st is even worst. Blame me, cos I blindly voted him in 2011. |
holatin:So in your own words, who is a better individual? |
holatin:You like this 5mins eh... |
In terms of fighting corruption, transformation, Security, and developmnts, who is better? If u dong mind, u can state your reasons... |
Considering the problems that existed while the Current Governor was still a member of the People's Democratic Party, it seemed like he was the cause of trouble in the party at the state. But taking a good look at th aftermath of his moving away to the APC, has the PdP been much better, has their been much more unity, with members still complaining about the party leadership being hijacked by the Fmr Minister Hon. Nyesom Wike. Except for Wike, all other party aspirants are even considered rebels, and none party members in some cases. The Fmr Minister of Education who has claimed to have fought for the party, also believed fighting Amaechi out, he should be rewarded with the position of a Governor. On the other hand, The party of the current Governor (Apc), has always had one voice, behaved in a more likely manner of maturity and composure. Even with the appointment of Hon. Dakuku Peterside as the party's Candidate, the other members of the party still remains calm. Does this show that the Governor knows how to keep his house in one voice? The questions that comes to mind are? Am I to vote Nyesom Wike, because I want to just restore Rivers State to pdp? Am I to vote Him becos he wants to Prove to Amaechi that he can also be the Governor? Does he has plans for the state, or wants to use that channel to fight against his political enemies? Does he have to condemn the Present Governor to prove his being capabale of Leadership? The Fmr Minister has in the past concluded tht Rotimi Amaechi was the best Governor the state ever had, while he was I. The pdp, would he come nw and contradict himself becos of a party struggle? |
I have just taken my time to observe how this whole things works, and the aim some people try to achieve, believe it or not, someone, or some group of people wants to reduce the votting strength of those region. This is the reason we hear them surgest state of emergency to continue, or that elections should not be held in these regions. Now I stand to ask myself, who will it favour if elections where not to be held there. To add, since the beginning of this insurgency escalating to this level, The Nigerian Army keeps arresting its members, but none has ever been persecuted. They get presidential pardon. This raises more questions. Our Nigerian Army has succeeded outside th shores of these country, for peacekeeping, and places where they don even know much about the modus operandi of the country. But believe me, if the 2015 elections go a certain way, insurgency will stop. Becos at that time, someone, or a group of people wouldn't be needing more votes from a particular region. Remember Ya'adua was muslim, but it took him lesser time to eradicate the sects leader, when they where still rebels. God Bless Ya'adua, He was a peace loving man, and the best president the country every had. *My thoughts though, if u feel otherwise, please correct me. |
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, House of Assembly primaries may have ended in Rivers state, but DAILY POST can report that all is still not well within the fold of the party. Most of the aspirants who emerged under the platform of the PDP were unopposed. The primaries which is the first among all the stages of primaries was greeted with protests from many other aspirants who lamented the ‘strange’ disqualification. Some of the House of Assembly aspirants claimed they were cleared at the party Headquarters in Abuja but were dismayed to see that they were disqualified on getting to Port Harcourt. The aspirants pointed accusing fingers at the Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike and State Chairman of the party, Felix Obuah for manipulating the entire process. One of the protesters, Barr. Tubotamuon Dick told DAILY POST that the PDP in Rivers state was being run as cult group. Dick also said latest developments in the party will hamper the chances of President Goodluck Jonathan in the state. “They have no reason to disqualify us. The whole thing was hijacked by the combination of Nyesom Wike, Uche Secondus and their two-man executive. I have worked actively for the party and there is no way I can be disqualified. “I can assure you that this particular act of injustice on the House of Assembly primaries in Rivers state will be used to address all the issues affecting PDP in this state. “People are using their personal interest to jeopardise our entire interest at the expense of Mr. President. “How can a thug pass screening and a Lawyer with two degrees be disqualified. They said I’m not a party member but it is cultists that are members. “The attitudes they showing is more like that of a cult and remember Ankiio had said it earlier. dailypost.ng/2014/11/30/2015-rivers-pdp-house-assembly-primaries-greeted-rage-protests/ |

Abuja - 63 senators have signified their intentions to commence impeachment moves against President Goodluck Jonathan, reports Punch. Eight senators on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had joined the ranks of All Progressives Congress (APC) to start the impeachment process. Some of the President’s alleged offences reportedly compiled by the senators included the President’s handling of the economy and political affairs of the country. The senators are already strategizing on how to go about the impeachment process and plan to lay the impeachment notice anytime from now. Based on provisions of the 1999 Constitution, 1/3 of Senators must append their signatures to the motion before a impeachment notice can be served. The senators are following the footsteps of the House of Representatives, who commenced collecting signatures for the president’s ouster with about 200 members already in support. The impeachment notice in the upper chamber is being collated by a senator from one of the states of the South West geo-political zone. m.news24.com/nigeria/Politics/News/63-senators-sign-to-impeach-Jonathan-20141128 |
