ciot: The thoughts for today: Always remember to be decisive about the program you wish to apply for and make sure it is tied to an experience either of work or volunteering. Do not apply to study for example Nursing when you read Marketing. Please align your SOP to experiences that can be VALIDATED. |

justwise: The people that have asked for a review, came to the forum seeking to find who can review for them without asking for particular people/persons. If it was the reverse then that would definitely be soliciting. Like I said earlier, I would not banter words at all. I have openly asked to assist, it is your choice to decide to or not instead of trying to brand me in some kind of way. 3 Likes |

justwise: I do not want to banter words with anyone, it is okay to be skeptical and suspicious, but I am not asking you to send me your account number,or personal details . Coaching are tips and best practices that we can discuss and share, hence reason why I started the thread. This is help I am willing to render. People should be careful about SOPs? I am shocked at this because from your SOP, what can I get that would be of benefit to me please?. Amazing!!! 4 Likes |

justwise: It is not about not being able to answer questions openly. Except if you want to do a screenshot of your SOP on the forum or a copy and paste then feel free. The reason i say you should send me an email is because, I believe your SOP is private and if you need help with a review, it is something I can help quickly. It is an assistance I am willing to render, no one is forcing anyone. 3 Likes |

thesoj: I agree with @thesoj. Many people fail before they even start off anything. When you urgently need an SOP, you end up doing a "copy and paste" from search engine pages like Google. If you need help with how to develop your SOP and how to go about it 1 Like |
Travel / Statement Of Purpose For Schools Abroad. Difficult? Learn And Discuss Here by ciot: 11:08am On May 12, 2016 |
Hi everyone, Reasons why students do not get admissions to schools-Most times the reason is the SOP. It is not enough to have good grades or be enthusiastic about the program you apply for, you have to show that enthusiasm to the committee members of the school/program/faculty that make the decisions in written form via your SOP. The SOP is what defines who you are as an individual. I have had the opportunity to review SOPs for people going to school abroad, and I must say it has been a headache filled job. I have had to re-write most people's SOP and I wonder what the issues and challenges they face are? 1. Most people do not even understand word count. (write 500-750 words), you see them write 1000 words and above, not paying attention to the STRICT guidelines of the school or faculty. 2. More so, given areas and points to concentrate on by the faculty, they digress and end up filling the SOP with unnecessary sentences that will not appeal to the application committee. 3. Most Applicants do not even know how to build the structure of the SOP, most times there are no links of what is written to the programs they apply for. 4. Most importantly, for every program you apply for as a potential applicant, you need to know within yourself the purpose of applying as this will guide you. 2 Likes |
