4llerbuntu: Apples and Oranges.

1. Maemo was a project practically left on its own. Nokia backed it a bit then betrayed us.

This is backed by a committed Open Source Company. Microsoft got their mole into Nokia (Elop) and the rest is history

If you have noticed, the really thriving Linux Distros i.e Ubuntu and Red Hat are backed by companies committed to open source and not just hobbyists and profit making companies.

2. This a a Full Mobile OS, not an attempt to cramp a desktop OS on to the phone like we were doing before.

the desktop part comes with the UBUNTU FOR ANDROID project. and it is like two separate worlds existing side by side on the phone

i get the skepticism, but one thing i can vouch for is that Canonical do not take things up and ditch it along the way.

actually this is not new, the idea has been floated over 2 years ago. to see it come together is exhilarating.

i guess my fellow ubuntu users are now beginning to see why Ubuntu went with the Unity desktop and those much maligned innovations like HUD.

so, it will get supported well. believe me it will.

and thankfully, no one will come and tell us this looks like IOS or any other mobile OS out there now. so it IS possible to innovate. Linux has always innovated anyway
Raring Ringtail i hope

it'll work on airtel because airtel offers a data package along with their subscription which can be used on other devices. Glo on the other hand can only be used on a blackberry phone or other devices with a change in apn settings. Upgrade to os 7.1, the hotspot option comes with the upgrade

@talk2hb1, i dont use any stimulant, and on days when i have loads of work, i can code for 16 hours at a stretch without getting up
to even eat - and on the average, i sleep for not up to 6 hours, and not up to 8 hours on days that i am completely worn out.

I am like that naturally before i started programming - restlessness is my second nature. But i had to drop out of so many social / sport
activities over tyme = used to play chess, table tennis, football, karate club, video game (ave u guys seen darksiders?). . . . . .but i had
to leave almost all of them and focus on programming. . .and medicine

I guess programming is just like that, but on the contrary, in terms of lyfestyle, i will say i am a jeun-soke programmer. . .

@poster, i dont believe programming has to do with male or female, just that, it is commonly associated with males, but i have met some
female programmers that are able to make me look like a primary 2 programmer sha

ProgrammingRe: I Want To Learn Programming. Which Language Should I Start With? by ciphoenix: 12:03pm On Jan 02, 2013
xterra2: C# - pronounced 'C-Sharp' is a language created by Microsoft in the early 2000s. It is Object Oriented, it can be used for Console applications, mobile ( Microsoft's useless mobile OS) and desktop applications. It is NOT built to be Multi-platform or WORA(Write once read anywhere).
C# is part of Microsoft's .NET Framework , the .NET Framework is a combination of languages such as VB short for Visual Basic, C#, F#, it also has it's runtime called CLR - Common Language Runtime, applications written with .NET languages would ONLY work if .NET Framework is installed, and it ships with Microsoft's Crappy Windoze so that is not a problem but applications targeted at .NET framework 4.5 ( the latest) would not work until you have it installed.
.NET languages are written using Visual studio and i can say it is the BEST IDE . With Visual Studio (VS) you can also write html, css, javascript and C++. The C++ in used in Visual Studio is usually called Visual C++,it includes additional classes for writing windows desktop applications & others

C++ - basically it is the OOP of C Programming Language used to program everything from nuclear reactors,to fighter jets, embedded systems, windows applications (winforms only). It is Built to be Multi-Platform and it is WORA it has the extension of cpp.
also .Net programs do not compile directly to machine code but to CIL(Common Intermediate Language) you can also learn how to program in CIL wink. While the non .Net programs compile to machine code smiley

HealthNigerian Doctors Face Tough Times In The United Kingdom by ciphoenix(op): 2:50pm On Dec 31, 2012
The United Kingdom (UK) may be a land of opportunities, especially for those seeking better life for themselves, however, such opportunities seem to be shrinking, especially for Nigerian-trained medical doctors.
They have come under the focus of regulatory authorities for alleged ineptitude and this may affect not only the career progress of those practising in the UK but job opportunity for medical doctors trained in Nigeria who hope to move overto practise their profession in the UK.
A report by General Medical Council (GMC) and obtained by THISDAY, revealed that Nigerian and Indian doctors make up the chunk of medical practitioners who have been labelled as ‘danger doctors’ and have thus been blacklisted.
The investigation revealed that doctors classified under that category were said to have poor knowledge of medical practice and little awareness of medical treatment in the UK. Such inadequacies, the report observed, led to the suspension of 33 Nigerian medical doctors.
Nigeria with a record number of3,564 medical doctors practising in the UK is now on the radar of the GMC after three Nigerian medical practitioners were delisted for their alleged ineptitude. In one case, a patient was said to have died from wrong administering of a drug, diamorphine.
In September, three Nigerians (names withheld) had their licences withdrawn due to what the GMC believed was based on various misconduct by the trio.
According to the report, India, Nigeria, Egypt, Pakistan, Iraq, France, Uganda and Cameroun have the highest cases of ‘danger doctors’.
With growing concerns over the incident, health experts in the UK are calling for effective test and examination of doctors trained abroad before they could be licensed to practise in the UK.
The report looked at cases involving wrong diagnosis, poor administration of drugs and treatment of patients from 2008 to 2012. The report is another damning verdict on Nigerian trained doctors after the UK medical council early in the year blacklisted some Nigerian medical schools’ graduates from practising in the UK.
