The _idiots always complaining about death of romance section and lack of topics are the ones who never contribute to the section in the first place.

Those fools would rather sit back and let others entertain them, and when the active members become as passive as they are, they cry wolf and complain.

Fvcking retards.

It's DEARTH, not DEATH tongue Simple comprehension. I doubt the mature member tag truly refers to you undecided

Romance section has always been the most foolish section on nairaland since the start of time. No matter the Era, there were always trolls, attention seeker, kids, low lives, on this section.

It has not always been so.

I have always been passive tho. Was a guest for years before registering primarily to buy a car here.

I can say my most impt contribution is passive: ignoring such topics.

But it is really sad seeing what used to be interesting go so puerile

Unlike what it was before 2012 when mature people interacted, now the section is for kids, like 2go.

Was browsing a forum yesterday on topic, Painful sex You Ever Pulled Off, and couldnt stop wondering if present crop of romancelanders could discuss such topics frankly and maturely, without littering the whole place with childishness

All we have now is attention seeking boys and gals and skirt chasing, sex starved boys who mistake nairaland for 2g0 and badoo cry

I think the erosion of the anonymosity of nairaland contributed, and they caused it all.

Some mature old members are still around sha, but rather silent, while some have been corrupted by the immature ones.

Politics / "Black People Are Not Human Beings"? by cisplatin: 3:24pm On Apr 19, 2015
ON THE SOUTH AFRICAN XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS... One of the world's biggest display of shamelessness!!!

Here is a Speech made by former S/A President P.W. Botha to his Cabinet. It was reprinted by David G. Mailu for the Sunday Times, a S/A newspaper, on 18, 1985.

"...We are not obliged even the least to try to prove to anybody & to the Blacks that we are superior people. We have demonstrated that to the Blacks in 1001 ways. The Republic of S/A that we know of today has not been created by wishful thinking. We have created it at the expense of intelligence, sweat and blood... We do not pretend like other Whites that we like Blacks. The fact that, Blacks look like human beings & act like human beings do not necessarily make them sensible human beings.

Hedgehogs are not porcupines & lizards are not crocodiles simply because they look alike. If God wanted us to be equal to the Blacks, he would have created us all of a uniform colour & intellect. But he created us differently: Whites, Blacks, Yellow, Rulers & the ruled. Intellectually, we are superior to the Blacks; that has been proven beyond any reasonable doubt over the years.
I believe that the Afrikaner is an honest, God fearing person, who has demonstrated practically the right way of being......

By now every one of us has seen it practically that the Blacks cannot rule themselves. Give them guns & they will kill each other.

They are good in nothing else but making noise, dancing, marrying many wives & indulging in sex. Let us all accept that the Black man is the symbol of poverty, mental inferiority, laziness and emotional incompetence.
Isn't it plausible? therefore that the White man is created to rule the Black man... And here is a creature (black man) that lacks foresight...

The average Black does not plan his life beyond a year..."

With the recent xenophobic attacks by south africans, has this speech been justified?

Gear oil was dirty brown and below min mark

Pls what do i do? I hv stopped drivin the car until i change the ATF. 99 Honda Accord, 4 plugs
this issue has been resolved. The gear issues were due to a bad throttle position sensor. Throttle body was changed and everything normalised.

Thanks all

Very true, though it could be much cheaper than 200k. The more the forward gears, the higher the cost of rebuild.
pls what do you mean by forward gears? Do u mean the D3, D2, and D1 etc
Car Talk / Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by cisplatin: 7:44am On Mar 26, 2015
abatically:

It is a lot cheaper replacing with a used transmission than trying to rebuild it. Rebuilding a transmission with genuine parts would cost between 200k -500k(or even more depending on the car) but the gear will end up being like a brand new tranny with warrantee. Buying a used tranny might not cost more than 100k and they do work (with a little bit of luck they might last a couple of years so far u check if the oil is not smelling bunt before buying ).

If anyone tells u he will rebuild ur transmission for less amount then be sure it will never be a clean job ans such jobs don't last up to e months before it goes back to square one.
Thank for this info. But I do not think it makes much sense to spend 200k - 500k (average 350k) on one repair for a car whose re-sale value averages 400k

I will do my best to ensure the ATF from the used tranny is not smelling burnt tho. Thanks

Thank u very much. So u advise I change it outright instead of trying to rebuild it?

Pls do you have an idea how much it could cost

I have changed the oil. The oil inside was very dark and about 1.5l. I used honda dw1 4l to guage it. But the symptoms are still there: Hesitation before changin gear, jerking when changin to R, D and D2 on idle, and a clunkin noise from the gear side when shiftin to R and D. Please what do u advice? What could be the problem? The D light is Not blinking.

Again many doctors are frustrated, dats a fact. The profession isnt wat they expected. The sleepless nyts, d lack of social lives, the pecuniary expectations, the internal issues within d profession such as the dehumanising treatments they get from their senior coleagues, harsh treatments and judgements sometimes from the majority of d public etc. The fact dat sometimes d patients dnt understand why she is left unattended to in her pains from eg a cut on the hand, only 4 d doc to focus on d speechless "painless" man with low sugar who has just be brought in. But the fact is dat no matter everythin, a doctor who truly has the right personality and attitude needed for d profession will mostly generate positive reactions from their contacts. So doctor need re orientation too. But d whole country needs it more

And dis country is sickening. Very irritatin and depressin. My friend told me how a pregnant woman died on operatin table becos a common drug was not available. The relatives and public will of cos blame d doctors. The doctors blame d management. The management blame the govt. The govt does not care! Also we Nigerians need to change wen we r in nigeria. Am sure the op will still suffer wat naija docs suffer if she were in naija, both in terms of their attitude to issues and the corruption issues. We nigerians tend to behave better wen we leave the country. No wonder some say it is a failed nation. Cos we dont just lack infrstructures, we lack d positive mentalities needed to build a viable society. No patriotism. No sense of nationhood. Thats why everybody cares only 4 demselves and not d society, from d top politicians to d man on d street.

THE NATION 10% of ERs Rejected Patients, Study Finds
Health: Hundreds, including 77 in state, broke law requiring treatment regardless of ability to pay.
July 13, 2001|TED ROHRLICH and NICHOLAS RICCARDI | TIMES STAFF WRITERS

Hundreds of hospitals around the country have violated a 15-year-old federal law that requires them to provide emergency care to anyone, regardless of ability to pay, according to a federal survey of emergency room workers and a consumer group's report released Thursday.

Government investigative files reviewed by the group, Public Citizen, showed that more than 500 hospitals, including 77 in California, were cited by the federal government from 1997 through 1999. That amounts to about 10% of the nation's hospitals.

Additional files reviewed by The Times showed that 47 of about 500 California hospitals were cited for later violations, mostly in 2000.

Turning away such vulnerable patients is "a national disgrace," said Dr. Sidney Wolfe, medical director of Public Citizen, which was founded 30 years ago by consumer activist Ralph Nader.

Wolfe called for an increase in seldom-imposed fines, which now top out at $50,000--a sum so low, he said, that "it's almost an open invitation to American hospitals to violate the patient-dumping law."

Alicia Mitchell, spokeswoman for the American Hospital Assn., countered that the report "highlights the exception, not the rule." She said American hospitals provided $20 billion in uncompensated care in 1999, the last year for which data are available.

Federal law requires hospitals to screen without delay all emergency room patients by giving them examinations and tests to make diagnoses. Hospitals must also try to stabilize patients by using doctors who are on hand or on call.

If patients cannot be stabilized, hospitals generally are free to transfer them to more sophisticated medical centers, which are required to accept them.

The law means that hospitals and on-call physicians must provide services first and worry about payment later. They are not allowed, for example, to delay a screening until they have determined how a patient will pay.

But that did not stop the Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Bellflower from refusing to care for a man who arrived by ambulance after a traffic accident in 1999, according to federal documents cited by Public Citizen. He was told he would have to pay $75 before a nurse or doctor looked at him, since he was not a Kaiser member.

Similarly, at Coastal Communities Hospital in Santa Ana in 1997, a man who was having a heart attack went to the emergency room but was told to go elsewhere because the hospital did not have a contract with his HMO, documents show.

And New York's St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in 1999 told uninsured patients that they would have to pay a fee of at least $400, the consumer agency's report said. According to government documents, patients would simply leave.

Spokesmen Call the Incidents Isolated

Spokesmen for all three hospitals said that the incidents were isolated and that the problems that produced them have been corrected. In fact, almost all of the hospitals cited since the law was passed have filed plans of correction, as they were required to do to maintain eligibility for Medicare reimbursements. Only six hospitals lost Medicare eligibility when they did not fix cited problems.

It is difficult to say precisely how widespread patient dumping is. There are, however, some indicators.

More than one in five of the nation's roughly 5,000 hospitals have been cited for violations since the anti-dumping law passed in 1986. More than 100 have been cited more than once.

Wolfe said he believes this is just the tip of the iceberg, because most victims of violations do not complain.

A spokeswoman for the federal agency that issues the citations noted that the number peaked in 1994 at 465. That year the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services adopted regulations that clarified the law. Since then, citations have ranged from 180 to 210 annually.

A federal hospital survey published this year suggests that many facilities screen patients for their insurers' ability to pay--a practice that is legal unless it results in delays.

According to the survey of 100 hospitals by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, one in every three hospitals reported that it routinely contacts health plans to authorize screening examinations. And one in four said it routinely asks health plans to authorize stabilizing treatment.

Of the hospitals that seek authorizations, 10% to 15% do not screen or treat patients if health plans deny the authorizations, staff members reported. That would be unlawful.

Hospitals that do not have the medical resources to help emergency patients may transfer them to hospitals that do. And the hospitals with resources are compelled to accept them.

sorry for quotin all this, but dis is how to argue intelligently and with facts....not wat the Op is doing.

She has some points o, but she failed to reason what actually d problem is.

Look, the law is even just 15yrs! In a developed country o, and it is still broken.
Health / Re: The Real Reason Nigerian Hospitals Ask For Police Report In Trauma Patients by cisplatin: 1:59pm On Mar 12, 2015
Some of the OP's comments r true, bt nt to d extent she exaggerates them. She also reasons wt a lot of prejudice, which hs affected d credibility of her assertions. She needs to improve on her critical reasoning skills and on skills about constructive criticisms, so dat she can pass her points across intelligently. Cos despite that she has made some points, her comments and responses appear highly sentimental and not based on facts. A foreigner readin dis would think either we dont get sick in naija, or dat we r all dead already.

If you have not used water in place of the coolant, it might be that there is a leak somewhere. Also check the radiator cover to see that the rubber lining is in good condition. If the cover is bad, when pressure rises in the radiator due to heat there could be leakage from the radiator cover.
