Politics / Republic Of Togo's 104th Political Party Emerges by citypulseng(m): 12:01pm On Jul 30, 2014
In Africa, some things are just inexplicable or how best can one explain why a tiny sub-Saharan country boasting of just 6 million populace agree to registering 104 political parties from which every political observer knows that the incumbent will always win?

News emanating reaching City Pulse has it that electoral officials have registered a new political party in Togo.

The new party, Togolese Party (PT), formed by Alberto Olympio, a young trader and computer expert living
abroad has a steering committee made up of 12 members, mostly young people, aiming to assert themselves on the Togolese political landscape.

According to the new party, it wants to implement programmes to provide Togolese people with daily and sustainable well-being.

Report says the new party brings to 104, the number of political parties in Togo whose population is just six million.

Unless you are jobless, there is no way you will spend time having sex everyday. It is understanding when guyz rotate girls for bleeping. But not for long, your libido wears out naturally as time goes on.

Once u get married & begin to raise children, your libido obviously wil wear off
Business / Re: Printing Press Cost by citypulseng(m): 3:12am On Nov 07, 2013
@aywenger, depending on your print run & pagination.

To print 1,000 impression of A2 size paper costs is N1,000. For instance, if you have a magazine of 12 pages will cost you N6,000 for one colour (black & white) & N48,000 for processed colours (all 4 colours).

Of course, this excudes cost of colour separation & procurement of paper.

U can reach me on 07039091674 or via folfrad@yahoo.com for further details

Good Idea! But u must realise that it is not a one-man job. You need to have sources (correspondents & online) from whom u will draw ur stories (credible ones).

For profitability, u need be consistent for a long time while promoting it aggressively before pple (including prospective advertisers) can start buying into it. The long & short of it are - consistency, quality content & traffic.

For instance, I run a national news tabloid - City Pulse in Nigeria as well as an online blog - citypulseng..com to complement one another. I started with a website but I was having problem loading contents & had to keep calling my designer. But blog offers me a quick access to upload

Don't mind Sunny T jare... Back to ur question, why not try studying the market first to understand pressing needs.

Meanwhile, u can also try businesses like restaurant or beer parlour. Come rain, come shine they will always flourish even when there is recession.

**My 2 cents**

Business / Re: Problem With Information Marketing And Selling Ebooks In Nigeria by citypulseng(m): 6:37pm On Mar 25, 2013
Good concept, Ayo. Although I have seen u raise such idea somewhere in this forum before. But my questions are these:

1. Calling on intending buyers to subscribe by texting to a short code is good idea. But with the bad experience a friend had some years ago when it came to gettin his money from the telcom operator, I don't think it is wise. Is there an alternative to the short code?

2. Selling an ebook on a sensitive or pressing subject matter(s) for N100 is ridiculous. If I put myself in the shoe of the buyer, I won't take a 2nd look at it. What makes u tink a businessman or enterpreneur will want to buy an important ebook for even N200?

3. As a new innovation or marketing concept, don't u tink it will be wrong to assume that about 10,000 will buy it at once? Even if it is Harry Potter, I doubt the perception of the average Nigerian.

Others are either busy waiting for the right time or thinking of how to raise the needed capital

I am laughing at the laxity with which you talk. Aside lacking needed passion associated with intending enterpreneurs, you don't really so keen about learning the rope.

Right now as I am talking with you, I have just finished speaking with my agents in Lagos concerning my second business for the year - book publishing.

You see, enterpreneurship or starting a business is not all about sitting idle and doubting whether those encouraging u to go into business are serious at all. It is passion and action-driven, friend.

So think of what u have a bias for and get Cracking!

Business / Re: Worth your attention and contribution:Book Publication. by citypulseng(m): 2:41pm On Mar 10, 2013
Dear Great, ur post was a constant reminder of what I went through to publish my 1st (Fun Book for Adult & Children) & 2nd (Biz to start with less than N50,00) books.

If I tell you it is easy, na set-up o. In your case, 2 things are involved - raising capital & creatin a market for the book. People will always promise & fail u; so stop looking to so-called govt officials or big men.

Look around you, what do u have that can be sold to kick-start ur dream - AC, Laptop, fridge etc? Dispose them & give ur printer as upfront payment.

Next, write out all the names of close people u know who are doing well - families, friends, uncles, aunties & even ex neighbours. Cry to them one after the other that u have a N200,000 project. Explain that u managed to gather N120,000 remaining N80,000 but quickly add that u won't mind if the person spare as little as N10,000 or even N5000, u will appreciate. I guarantee that even if they are not all generous, by the time u get to the 10th person the money shud be complete.

Even if u cudn't finishing paying for the printing, the printer shud be lenient enough to give some copies of the book to sell and pay him offm simple!

In the area of sales, use freelance academic vendors who move from department to department as well as bookshops close to varsities and secondary schools.

I hope this tip helps. If you have further worries, mail me via folfrad@yahoo.com

JudismphD: when i say this kind of business will phase out with time, i speak with authority as an enterprenuer with 12 years experiences forcasting and operating successful in harsh business environment of ours with annual 6 digit of turnover in chains of business nt just mere beautification of managerial parlance. when you want to evaluate a the life span of a business, you take an holistic view of such business. Nigerian are good in using words to beautify a situation. You said ''strategy'' can u please highlight or itemise one, two, three, four etc workable strategies one could employ in this kind of business? In any business u draw a SWOT analysis and if the threat is more than the business strength and opportunity, u let go nt just mere use of word oga

Oga Ade, I have a sister who runs the business in Ebute Metta. The lady u were trying to shrug off has told u the truth. Secondly, virtually every participant in this forum is an enterpreneur of sort. So using that same SWOT analysis of yours, specifically how do u hope to phase out chair rental business? You mentioned hall, event centres etc... Are they not meant for the elites & middle class? Need I start mentioning the number of open spaces, fields, school compounds and various available space are used for parties on weekends? Did the event centres pose any challenge to them? @Poster, carry on with your dream jor!

Much as I tried to convince myself this is happening, I want to believe the stat can't be that impressing. Why I said so? Aside winning AFCON, our image abroad is not palatable at all. From epileptic power, insecurity to terrorism and corruption, the list is endless. I am asking myself "Why would anyone want to leave the comfort of Europe for Nigeria of all places?" Not many people know how lucrative chairs, tables and canopy rental business can be. Hardly a day goes by without the average Nigerian not having one or two things to celebrate. From birthdays, traditional engagements, weddings, graduation (apprenticeship), naming ceremony, house warming, remembrance, lying-in-state, burial rite, religious vigil down to the usual village meetings, the list is endless. And if it happens that you are the only one running the rental business in your area, just imagine what your daily turnover will look like. Not only are you guaranteed of more than 3 dozens of chairs, tables and canopies per person, you stand the chance of seizing the balance once any of the items demanded is broken. For those who are not in the know, leasing a dozen of white chairs costs N300, a table N250, N500 and a canopy is N1,500. So imagine a particular customer coming for 10 canopies, 20 dozens of chairs, 6 drums and 20 tables. What it means is that you are likely to make up to N29,000. Great, isn’t it?

Of course, no one will comment, Cheta. It is obvious you are much more interested in money than creating value. Such impression rather than attract will repulse interested investors. My advice - go back to the drawing board, put somethings in place and get the ball rolling. Those same people you are striving hard to entice will come willingly. Best of luck!
