Oh nice can you suggests way out to attract customers on this. God pays
Hi again CefezA

Since you are in the cosmetic market, you can try contacting supermarkets and makeup salons

For supermarkets, see if they can give you a display lace on their cosmetic line area, or a place to display your poster in and around the supermarket that indicate what you sell.

A step further would be to have a sales person at the supermarket(If its a big one) that talks to clients about the cream, with this have a name number and email collector, you will use it to retarget these customers later(if possible)

A third step for supermarkets will be to organize a music and display canopy outside the supermarket(If space is available.) for awareness and possibily testing of your products.

While for makeup Salons, go with having a sample of your product there and a place to put up your posters.

These are all to create awareness and traction, which you will use to convince other supermarkets and future distributors that your facial cream already sells.

Although there are more expensive approaches you could use i.e Adverts in Newspapers and on tv.

But that can be left for a future time.

Selling facial cream on the street using street hawkers, Hmmm that might be a tad hard to pull off.

Except you are targeting the local salons and makeup artist, but it will still be a hard sell, as your product may be way beyond the cost of what they are already selling.

In the long run, street hawkers and their customers might not be the right way to go.

edoman2016:
Selling on credit generates more sales than not selling on credit. But selling on credit affects our cash flow and production targets since we don't really have much money for working capital on ground compared to the big companies.

Sometimes, we had to wait between five to seven days to receive payment from our customers after supplying them.

I never knew Bars is also a target market for our fruit juice. Is it not only alcohol that is sold in Bars?
This is a common problem faced by growing FMCG companies.

At begin it will be able striking a balance between credit sales and running capital. But at some point the need for more running capital will surface.

To counteract this, reduce the number of customers who delay payments extensively. Gradually demand for your product will cause then to strike a deal for new payment periods

Also selling to bars and clubs, should be considered. As not every guest will drink alcohol, plus consider the spirit drinkers who mix their drinks with juice or coke.

edoman2016:
How do I introduce new product which is fruit juice to my target markets? How do I avoid selling on credit to my target audiences? What marketing strategies will you suggest to me on how to penetrate the markets in Lagos?
First off, who is your target market?

Are they
Restaurants
Bars
Families
Clubs
Supermarkets

You will need to find out what type of fruit juice they are buying?
How much they are buying them for?
Why they are buying them as against other brands?

Will credit sales help you brand reach?

If you sell on credit will more people buy or less?
If you don't sell on credit, how many buyers will you have?
In a test month of selling on credit and another of not selling on credit, what was the total sales?

I can't really advise you on credit sales as you will first have to test both to know which best suits you.

But I can tell you that if you brand is well received and liked, then the amount of credit sales will reduce.

Now to your final question

Marketing strategies?

What has worked in the pasted for other fruit juice companies?

Is it road shows?
Market surveys?
Or physical brand reps in sale locations?

Have you tested any of these strategies before?

I know I answered most of your questions with a question.

But what I want you do is, see these questions as likely tests or processes for developing a sales process for your product.

Do you think best way to sell products that are not well no by people is by street hawking
Hi CefezyA,

It depends on the product.

I am guessing it's a food or beverage and not a generator or plasma TV cheesy

Where it's a FMCG, that's under the street price of 200, then it has a chance to sell.

That chance depends quite a lot of factors.

Is it a food or beverage
How much is it
How much do street hawker gain from selling each pack, pet, unit.
Quality of product
Taste
Customer approval
Packaging.
Etc.

Examples of products that fit the criteria above.

Pure bliss wafers.
Yummy yummy
Big cola.

Why no tell us a bit about your product?

"Sell me this pen"

Are you trying to sell a product or service?
Are you terrible at Sales and marketing?

Each of us is a sales person and every day we sell one thing or the other.

It can be a product, service, opportunity, religion, hope, faith, emotions and love.

Little things like trying to convince your boss you need a raise, wanting to make your spouse see reason behind going to a new church, trying to convince your new catch that your friend's place is your house or dressing to kill and catching the attention of everyone around you.

Some of you are quite good at doing these, but if presented with a product or service and asked to sell, the results are totally different.

Why?

Some will say "I hate selling", some will say
"I can't sell", while others will say "i am not a sales person".

Truthfully, you are good at selling, its the process of selling whats placed in front of you thats lacking.

And that my friend, is the core reason for this thread.

As i haven't seen a group or thread that talks about the art of selling in various industries, i feel its time nairaland has one.

Let bring together the sales people and business people who have challenges getting customers for their products, and together lets talk about how those products can be sold.

Lets focuses on the "How to sell question" from industry to industry, no text book and school lecture theories.

A purely experience based selling resource that provide answers to questions like these

How does a marketing Officer at the Bank meet his N100 million per month target, when its the 20th of the month and only has N6 Million so far?

How does a sales executive at insurance firm sell N4.2 million worth of premiums?

How do you sell a plot of land in Ketu for N72 million in under a month, when the plots around it are going for half your price?

How do you sell a meter of pipe for N650 when others are selling N800 for 4 meters?

Answers from professionals and business people who have faced them and done it.

So if you have questions about selling in any particular area or industry, please feel free to drop your questions.

Also, Aside from questions and answers, the thread will be a resource of videos, audios and books that will help anyone looking to get better results in business and in sales.

Come lets tackle the art of selling together.

Come lets talk selling

HealthPatients Dumping P.O.P Casts For Aircast/airselect/airwalker/walking Boot by cj1080(op): 1:24pm On May 12, 2017
Before the Advent of the Aircast/AirSelect/Airwalker/Walking Boot, Standard ankle fractures and high impact ankle sprans used to be treated with POP(Plaster of Parris)

This was ment to hold the bones in a fixed positon while the healing process takes place, But anyone who has ever had a fracture around the foot, can tell you how painful and itchy it can be.

Why the pain and itching, Well as your body heals from a fracture, the first thing it does is to swell and accumulate liquids around the area of the fracture, this is known as Oedema. Which sadly can be very painful, worst when its in a plaster or pop cast that s grainny and spiky. Then add that god aweful need to itchy the affected area.

Thus Aircast/AirSelect/Airwalker/Walking Boot was created.

Now, what does an Aircast/AirSelect/Airwalker/Walking Boot do?

A the name implies, it helps you get back to your feet fasted than a pop/plaster cast.

How does it do it?

By creating an air bubble around the whole foot.

In essence it creates an air pillow around your foot, which aside from making you feel like your putting your leg down on nothing but air. it also allows you to bear weight on the foot.

Which for someone who has being on a pop cast and crutches will know, you do not put weight on a POP cast. Thats why you see most POP cast users going around with Crutches.

While the Aircast/AirSelect/Airwalker/Walking Boot objective is to help start putting weight on your affected foot, so that you practical do not need the crutches once they come on.

HealthProsthetics In Nigeria: The Amputee Story Pt 1 by cj1080(op): 11:07am On Nov 11, 2015
There is a lot that needs to be said about the plight of amputees in Nigeria, but most times the basics are left unsaid.

How does one become an amputee, if asked this most people will say it comes about by the loss of a limb be it an arm or leg or both through accidents.

We tend to overlook the story of how someone came to be without a limb, and what can be done to help such a person live a fulfilled life.

We forget that they just went through a painful procedure and are reminded about the trauma of the procedure, every time they look at what they have lost.

It was not easy for the individual, some of them come out of it stronger, and some come out of it scarred for life, others…..

What is it all about, is there hope for these people. The answer is, yes.

One just needs to look at countless cases online of people with disabilities or amputations leading a normal life.

You might say but that the US, Britain, China and some other developed countries of the world. Yes true, there things are made more easy for them.

But in all, let’s consider that the process remains the same. The lost something and are constantly reminded of it when they look at it.

The key for them was that they understood what they lost and learnt ways to continue living with it and enjoy a full live. Make no mistake here, The LEARNT ways to continue living.
For this is what must always be done. You learn new ways to live.

Like someone who lost his house to a storm or fire, he/she must adapt and find a way.

Like when we lose a loved one so key to the family structure, be it the head of a house or the bread winner. The family must adapt to new ways to live and grow into something better.

The human being was built with adaptation in Mind, case in point.

Put an eye patch on and wear it for 6 months, the other eye will adapt to the situation almost immediately.

When you break a wrist or your writing arm and it’s put in a sling or cast. You will learn how to write with the other hand.

We can always adapt to any situation in our daily lives. What holds us back is the trauma of the amputation or the disability.

The procedure in developed countries for any amputation case is:

Once the amputation is don’t the patient is required to meet with a psychiatrist during the period of healing to aid in overcoming the trauma, of course here in Nigeria, it’s the friends and family that filling in that gap. Although now a days the service can be acquire.

This adaption comes about with the help of Physiotherapy, Orthotics and Prosthetics: What’s best for me. This we will cover more in our subsequent posts.

A lot is now possible in Nigeria for the amputee and people living with disabilities. The problem still remains that the trauma of their ordeal usually is a big issue coupled with a general lack of information that should be readily available to help people make better choices and decisions.

Health4 Types Of Skin Protection Options For Prosthetic Users by cj1080(op): 5:07pm On Oct 23, 2015
Artificial and prosthetic limbs are a fact of life for amputees. Whether you lost a leg or an arm due to an accident, diabetes or an infection. It's what you need, if you wants to get back to living a fruitful life.

That joy of getting an artificial limb or prosthesis can sometimes be short lived, when it becomes unconformable to use the prosthesis. It feels as if you finally have your life back just to have it become uncomfortable to live in.

This discomfort is sometimes caused by an uncomfortable socket.

The socket is the cup shaped plug that connects the body to the prosthesis.

Each time you wear your prosthesis, it constantly bruises or chaffs you. Making the idea of putting it on a dreadful experience.

The chaffing and bruising, is caused by tiny nicks in the interior face of the socket. These nicks are usually defects that occur during the production of the socket and its use over time.

There are ways to counter this.

1. Cloth or nylon material
Clothe and Nylon materials are common among artificial limb and prosthesis users in developing countries, where better and cheaper options are not readily available.
People use pieces of old clothes or nylon shopping bags tied around their stumps before wearing their artificial limbs. Its cheap but not very effective as it usually causes sweating and infections of around the stump.
It also can cause the stump to loose shape over time, this will make wearing the artificial limb a problem.

2. Stump Socks and Cotton Stockinette
Cotton socks are better, they are easy to use.
Some come like a pair of long socks, while others like the stockinette come in rolls that are open at the bottom.
This allows you to layer as many times that is needed to fit into the your artificial limb comfortably. They are not advisable for diabetes patients who constantly have issues with their stump.

3. Dermal seal Sock
Dermal Seal sock are the new kid on the block. It’s used with suction sockets where they act like a plug in the socket. They give a far more better grip that the cotton socks. As it feels like your skin and the socket are one.

4. Liner
Liners and sleeves are like dermal seal socks, they are used for both suction sockets and for by the newer shuttle lock sockets for artificial limbs. They are much more comfortable and more skin friendly. They are made from various materials, Silicon, Polyuerathane, Copolymer. Each providing a different level of comfort and wearability.

Which should you use
The decision of which to use depends on your comfort and theirs.
Before your prosthetic leg is built, you can ask your physician or certified prosthetic and Orthotist, what option would be the best pick for you.

Has anyone had problems using any one of the above options?
