Thank you in advance...

bellong:
@Ifexsco and to whom it may concern

OmogeNG has answered your questions, nothing for me to add really.

However, I will make one or two comments.

I can't tell you authoritatively the city to reside in as a Petroleum engineer because the oil and gas as well as the mining industry are experiencing a downturn which is a global phenomenon. About two weeks ago, someone living in Perth told me he has plan to relocate to Sydney as Engineers in Perth are becoming jobless due to the downturn.
Nevertheless, the petroleum centre of the country still remain Western Australia and Northern part of Queensland. When things get settled, you might want to beam your light there.
For environmental engineering or science, there are jobs available in most of the states/ major cities.

For the guy asking about ICT jobs, you might want to consider Melbourne or Sydney. Melbourne seems to be the SIlicon Valley of Australia as per ICT roles.

On securing a temporary jobs, as a start I should tell you that in this country, there is dignity in labour. It doesn't matter what you do, you will be able to afford basic things and pay your bills. The first step is to decide on what you want to do and the career path you want to follow. Once you reach that stage, identify requirements of the position and start working towards fulfilling them. Once you believe you meet it, begin throwing in application.
To help the initial bill payment, there are lots of unskilled jobs to do. Like Omoge said, you can do short course in disability and aged care if it is something you can do or do a three day course in forklift. You could be lucky to get something in your field immediately, there is no rule that says you can't.

If you have interest in policing, you can apply to join any of the police in any of the state except the Federal Police as citizenship is required to join.

When applying for your jobs, your cover letter or selection criteria address is more important than your CV. It is what will give you opportunity for interviews. Importance of a good cover letter cannot be overemphasized and you cant just write blank statement about your skills, you need to supply an example of how you have used the skill using the STAR format -Situation, Task, Action and Result (google how to answer behavioural questions)

What to do immediately you land.... Apply for TFN (tax file number)
Register with Medicare and family Tax benefit if you are travelling with your family immediately.
Start looking for job. I will advice you to suspend the Family tax benefit payment to yearly once you find a job to avoid paying back overpayment at the end of the financial year.

As per your short term, mid and long term career.. Only you know what you want out of life. Decide on what you want to do and go for it. You have the opportunity to do anything you want to do once you have the minimum requirement/qualification.

Congrat man. God bless your hussle.
I did like to klnow the prospect of Computer and IT related. Are they okay outhere cos I relaize you mention medical and engineering. Awaiting your comment.

malkinburg:
Hey Peeps have some good news to share, so i just graduated and moved to Sydney from brisbane about a month ago. Today was my first day of work as an Environmental engineer with a reputable company. My advice to folks with engineering degrees, i believe the grass is greener here. you should just know how to apply wisdom in your search for opportunity.

Pretty informative. Thank you
How about Computer and IT related.
Any preference to particular city?

OmogeNG:
Your PR visa is for 5yrs. It allows you go in and out of the country for 5yrs, and allows you stay indefinitely in the country. It is expected that you would have gotten citizenship within those 5yrs. If by any chance you haven't gotten citizenship within those 5yrs, and you intend leaving the country for whatever reason, you will need a Resident Return Visa (RRV) to re-enter. A RRV takes about 1-2business days to get if you apply onshore, and about 1 week if overseas. There are some eligibility criteria for the RRV though. You must have resided for at least 2yrs in the 5yr period before applying for the RRV. It is not necessarily 2yrs at a stretch, but 2yrs cumulatively.

You must enter before 2017 means you must validate your visa before Feb 2017, as you cannot enter after your medical or pcc expires. It does not mean you have to settle in Australia. You can validate the trip and relocate at a later date.

Family Tax Benefit will considerably help with settling in. If you had a baby less than 12months ago or so (not sure), you can get up to 750 per fortnight...depending on your income. It is hard to give general advice, unless you can say the state you will be settling in and how old your kid(s) is/are. Let me know.

I am huge believer of 'Don't let anyone tell you some jobs are not for migrants'. Don't listen to such advice. If you want a lecturing job, you can get it. Approach the different unis around you, or email their HR dept. You can also look at other job adverts and see what their general requirements are. You might even get here and decide to change careers altogether. However, in the meanwhile, many new migrants do a quick course in disability support or individual care. That will enable you get a job in healthcare support industry. You can get the certificate 3 for free, as many states...if not all...have a certificate 3 guarantee program. Disability support/individual care jobs can pay anywhere from 25 dollars per hr and above, excluding penalty rates.

TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by classichsy(m): 11:15pm On Sep 02, 2016
Oh ok. If any of the conditions apply to the visa, what's the best means to go about it or change the visa status without traveling out of aussie.

WestAfrican:
Not really. It depends on your case officer, if they are in doubt your visa could be granted with that condition. Atimes it comes health, carer, and student visa (for those under sponsorship).

Check on your visa. It should be on condition(s) sector. Conditions may be; you cant stay more than 3months on each visit, you can't study, you can't work and no further stay.

Here is a link to check your visa online:

TravelRe: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by classichsy(m): 10:08pm On Sep 02, 2016
oh ok. does this comes with tourist visa most of the time?

WestAfrican:
A 'No Further Stay' condition is a condition that prevents the visa holder from applying for many temporary and permanent visas while they are in Australia. 'No Further Stay' conditions include 8503, 8534 and 8535.
If one of these conditions has been imposed on your visa, you cannot apply for another visa (except a protection visa or a temporary visa of a specified kind, while you are in Australia).
When you depart Australia a 'No Further Stay' condition will not prevent you from applying for other visas.

@Westafrican. Thanks for the info. You r highly appreciated. can you give more insight on what you meant by stay condition...
Are you in Aussie?

WestAfrican:
Yes you can apply for it if your visitors visa has no further stay condition on it. This link could be of help https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Visa-1/189-

You can also assess yourself using this link

https://www.acacia-au.com/skilled-migration-points-test.php

The processing time is upto a year. Meanwhile, you will be given a bridging visa which will allow you remain in Australia until a decision is made on your application.

G'Luck

Ok Thank you. Can someone with tourist visa apply for it and how long does it take to get processesd

WestAfrican:
Permanent Residence or PR allows you to remain in a country indefinitely. In Australia you may have a few clauses to your PR if defaulted can lead to the cancellation.
