The Apostles of Jesus Christ were eyewitnesses of His teachings and miracles He performed. They thus became uncompromising “ministers of the word.” They were tried, tempted, persecuted, imprisoned, severely tortured, denied their rights, abused and afflicted, subjected to hunger, thirst, shame and disgrace. Yet, they stood firmly and remained uncompromising till death. We must also resolve not to deviate from the command to preach “the word of God with boldness.” The Apostles were not deterred by threats from enemies of the gospel. Instead, they resolved: “We ought to obey God rather than men.” Paul the apostle doggedly proclaimed “all the counsel of God” everywhere, despite his predicaments. He said, “For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ” (2 Corinthians 2:17). Preachers of the word of God should not circumvent the truth to please any individual, authority or congregation. To preach the Word with boldness and conviction, we should endeavour to spend quality time to train, consecrate, sacrifice and develop ourselves to be approved unto God. We should not allow others’ sin to make us fall, but avoid compromise like Daniel, who “purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself.” If we stand firm, preach with conviction and bring sinners to the Lord, God’s work will grow numerically and spiritually. And we will receive our great reward on the final day, if we remain faithful till the end. Believers grow to maturity through regular intake of His Word. Some Christians, however, are not growing in courage, spiritual stamina and levels of maturity, because they fail to commit themselves to imbibe the Word every day. “For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat” (Hebrews 5:12). Such Christians are slow and unproductive. When they ought to be counsellors, leaders, teachers, pastors, evangelists and soul-winners with good grasp on the Word, they remain babes. But the Lord wants us to be strong, firm, courageous and bold. Rather than give excuses for remaining stagnant because of our situations, “let us go on unto perfection.” We should grow into maturity to be able to handle the difficulty, confrontation, temptation, insult and pressure that challenge our Christian conduct and obedience to the great commission. Christ never bent the knee to Stan’s messengers or gave up the commission the Father had given Him because of the Pharisees and Sadducees. We must emulate Him and, “Let the word of Christ dwell in (us) richly in all wisdom.” This will make us grow and come to maturity and perfection. The more we live in the Word and by the Word, the more we become mature, stable, steadfast and grow with a good foundation in Christ, Who is the Word personified. Those who move on to maturity live in Him, through Him, like Him and for Him. They are saved, sanctified, separated from the world, submissive, spiritual, saintly, saturated with the Word, steadfast, single-minded, soul-winning and self-denying. Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has lambasted Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, for saying the federal government will henceforth regard hate speech as act of terrorism. Fani-Kayode on Saturday said the declaration has proven that President Muhammadu Buhari, Osinbajo, APC National Chairman, John Odigie Oyegun, and other leaders of the party “are indeed a bunch of self-serving deceivers and self-seeking hypocrites. “Worst of all they are the architects of terror and the fathers of hate!” He wrote: “When they called those that believe in restructuring “opportunists” and “political jobbers” it was not described as hate speech. “When they called those that believe in exercising their right of self-determinaion and that are struggling and fighting for equal rights, equal opportunities and the liberation and emancipation of their people “treasonous criminals”, “evil secessionists”, “irresponsible souls” and “godless rebels” it was not described as hate speech. “When they called the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) “a bunch of criminals and looters” it was not described as hate speech. “When they called President Goodluck Jonathan “incompetent”, “weak”, “gutless” and “clueless” it was not described as hate speech. “When they described him as a “drunken sailor”, a “drunken fisherman”, a “kindergarten President” and insulted members of his family it was not described as hate speech. “When they called us “wailing wailers” it was not hate speech. When they called us “PDP” it was not described as hate speech. “When they called us “baboons and dogs” and their wives called us “hyenas and jackals” it was not described as hate speech. “When they called us “cold-blooded murderers” and described us as “thieves and rogues” it was not described as hate speech. “When they encouraged and clapped for a foreign leader who described our people and our nation as “fantastically corrupt” it was not described as hate speech. “When they demonised our leaders and called First Lady Patience Jonathan an “ugly and illiterate hippopotamus” it was not described as hate speech. “When they called President Obasanjo and President Yar’adua “incompetent jokers and treacherous thieves” who “stole all the money that they were given for the power sector” and who were part of a “cabal of kleptomaniacs” it was not described as hate speech. “When they called Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state a “murderer, cultist and gangster” who “has no character” and a “cutlass-wielding butcher and thief” it was not described as hate speech. “When they called Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state a “loud-mouthed and illiterate gutter-snipe” and a “low-life danfo driver” it was not described as hate speech.” SOURCE: https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10155663508577210&id=62188827209 MORE: http://www.naijanewspapers.com.ng/2017/08/apc-leadership-architects-of-terror.html |

President Muhammadu Buhari returns to the country later today, after receiving medical attention in London. The President had left the country on May 7, this year, after handing over power to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who has functioned as Acting President since then. President Buhari is expected to speak to Nigerians in a broadcast by 7 a.m on Monday, August 21, 2017. He thanks all Nigerians who have prayed ceaselessly for his recovery and well-being since the beginning of the health challenge. FEMI ADESINA Special Adviser to the President (Media and Publicity) August 19, 2017 MORE: http://www.naijanewspapers.com.ng/2017/08/president-buhari-to-returns-today-femi.html |
ONE HUNDRED DAYS ABROAD AND STILL POSING FOR PICTURES President Muhammadu Buhari has been away from our shores for over 100 days in a stretch treating an undisclosed and mysterious illness in far-away London. Since May 29th 2015 when he was sworn into office as President he has spent 350 of his over 740 days in power abroad treating the same strange ailment. Those that demand that he should "resume or resign" are being attacked and brutalised by security forces and agents of the state. The Buhari government is a murderous contraption that has no respect for human rights and civil liberties. Charly Boy Oputa, Deji Adeyanju, Ariyo Dare- Atoye, Jude Ndukwe and other notable figures and leaders of the "Our Mumu Don Do" movement were brutalised and almost murdered by Buhari's savage footsoldiers at Wuse Market in Abuja the other day simply because they dared to go on a demonstration and ask for the President to "resume or resign". If that had happened Nigeria would have exploded yet no arrests have been made and the government seems unperturbed. Tension has gripped the land as we approach October 1st and the Nigerian people have expressed deep concern about what is unfolding yet all we are fed with on a daily basis are pictures of an ailing Buhari, posing like a fading and ageing Playboy model, holding court in London and granting audience to his friends, political associates, family members and loyalists. The whole thing is not only inappropiate and undignified but it is also deeply insulting. Simply put it is sordid. The Nigerian people never banked on or voted for a fragile picture-posing foreign-based mannequin to be their President. Meanwhile the world laughs us to scorn and mocks our nation as one in which even a walking corpse that is clearly suffering from dementia can lead and hold sway. We are a nation in which an Acting President who is scared of his own shadow, who appears to have lost touch with his senses and who has forgotten the history and heritage of the people that he supposedly represents, has been reduced to a mere national co-ordinator and that is in the power of a faceless and tiny cabal of neo-nazi racists, religious bigots and power-hungry geriatrics. The truth is that we are now a full-fledged dictatorship that is being controlled and presided over by a tiny cabal with a religious and ethnic agenda. This, together with an unrelenting, though unsuccessful attempt, to demonise and crush the traditional opposition and silence all forms of dissent has resulted in the irresistable rise of powerful and well-organised secessionist and separatist groups such as the Yoruba Liberation Command (YOLICOM) and the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The fact that the Federal Government is incapable of encouraging national cohesion and integration but is instead saddled with a morbid obsession to try to destroy President Goodluck Jonathan and rubbish his excellent legacy speaks volumes. The lies and propaganda of the Buhari administration are second to none. Simply put they are filled with deceit, deception, mendacity and hate. They have sought to demonise and destroy more innocent Nigerians than any other Government in our entire history. They have killed more innocent Nigerians than any other Government in our history outside of the civil war. They have locked up more innocent Nigerians and subjected them to shameful and barbaric witchunts and media trials than any other civilian Government in the history of our country. Under them murderous soldiers slaughtered over 1000 Shia Muslims in one afternoon in Zaria and buried them in mass graves. Under them thousands of IPOB youths have been butchered by security agents. Under them hundreds of thousands of innocent Nigerians have been raped, maimed, robbed and massacred by well-armed, well-funded and well-organised Fulani militias and herdsmen all over the country yet not one of the perpetrators has been arrested or brought to justice simply because they are members of the President's ethnic group and they are his loyal footsoldiers. Under them Boko Haram has resurrected, restored its fortunes and won back virtually all the territory that they had lost when President Goodluck Jonathan was in power. Under them more Christians have been butchered and more Churches burnt down than any other Govermment in the history of Nigeria. Under them northern youths have given a chilling quit notice to our Igbo compatriots to leave the north. They have also threatened them with genocide and mass murder if they fail to do so by Octobr 1st yet not one of those murderous youths has been aprrehended, questioned or arrested. Under them a frightful and barbaric song has been crafted and is being shared and sang all over the north which openly calls for the ethnic cleansing and total elimination and annihilation of every Igbo in the country yet the song has not been outlawed or banned and its authors have not been arrested. Under them a culture of silence and fear has been imposed on the Nigerian people and few are ready to risk life, limb and liberty by speaking truth to power or resisting and standing up to tyranny. Under them the worst economic recession that we have ever experienced in our history has been established and the Nigerian people have been afflicted with pain, hunger, hardship, suffering, poverty, uncertainty and despair. Under them cows (yes cows!) have taken over our city streets, schools and places of worship and the lives of cattle are deemed to have more value than that of human beings. There is no gain saying that Buhari and his followers are not only a curse and a terrible affliction on our nation but they are also a very real danger to our unity as a people. Their objective appears to be to turn Nigeria into a nation of quislings and vassals and a colony of pliant and cowardly slaves. They refer to every northern Muslim that resists their evil agenda and that does not support them as a traitor and an infidel and they refer to every southerner and Christian as a slave and an unbeliever. Their's is the language of hate, violence and division and it must be condemned and resisted by all men and women of goodwill regardless of their faith and ethnicity. More than any other Government in our entire history the Buhari administration has divided us along ethnic, religious and regional lines and they don't appear to give a hoot about the implications of doing so. As a matter of fact the contrary is the case: they appear to enjoy doing it and they feed on the dangerous divisions that they have created. As regards Buhari himself, I have said it before and I will say it again: he is the darkness that seeks the darkness and the most divisive and destructive leader that Nigeria has ever known. He is the quintessential biblical Amalekite and the classical "troubler of Israel". The Bible says "the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel" and Buhari is cruel indeeed. As a matter of fact he is not human and he is incapable of exhibiting any form of genuine compassion or kindness. He is a demonic incarnate. He is what the great writer and historian David Icke describes as "a shape-shifting reptilian" with sociopathic and psychopathic tendencies. Cold-blooded and ruthless, he thrives in the shadows and he is led and guided by the dark spiritual forces and entities that brought him into this world to do havoc. And like all reptilians, to maintain his human form he drinks human blood and eats human flesh. Simply put he is a wicked and unrelenting sadist whose failures as President are glaring and manifest for all to see. Worse of all, he hates the children of God and despises the forces of light. Malevolence is his forte and destruction is his delight. He thrives on both and he feeds on the energy, essence, glory and souls of his innocent victims. May the Ancient of Days deliver our country from his evil clutches and may the Lord of Hosts save us from those that regard and worship him as a living and cultic deity. Permit me to conclude this contribution with the following. So obsessed, so primitive, so provincial, so evil, so insensitive, so petty, so cruel, so crude, so paranoid, so deluded, so out of touch with reality, so reckless, so hateful and so obsessed with President Jonathan and the PDP is the Buhari Presidency that they went as far as to say that the great lady and former Minister of Information Mrs. Dora Akunyili was sent to her premature death and early grave because she was given a job by the former President. Never in the history of our nation has such a vicious, nonsensical, baseless, malevolent and specious mendacity been pronounced by an official of the Federal Government. One wonders whether Buhari and his minions have any shame? One wonders whether they have any respect for the dead? One wonders whether they are not all suffering from dementia like Buhari is himself? One wonders if they have any decency or humanity left in the deeper recesses of their antedeluvian and pyschotic souls? Nevermind the fact that the statement was issued by a very junior staff of the Presidency who I gather is as much of a palm-wine guzzling low-life and woman of easy virtue as she is an ugly old drunkard: the truth is that she looks and reasons like a blood-swirling ritualist and the product of an incestuos union. Imagine having to come home to that every night? Yet whatever she is, whatever she drinks, whatever she smokes, whoever her parents are, whichever poor soul she goes home to every night and however repugnant her looks may be the fact remains that what she has said is morally reprehensible. It is also a clear reflection of the callousness, the grave psychological degeneration and the deep intellectual bankruptcy of the Buhari administration. Whatever Buhari and his minions may feel about Jonathan, the People's Democratic Party or anyone else they should please leave Dora Akunyili out of it because this profoundly good lady that brought joy to the hearts of so many is not here to speak for or defend herself. They should allow this great daughter of Nigeria who was not only my colleague in the Obasanjo administration over ten years ago but who also served our nation honorably and creditably through the auspices of no less than three PDP President's and Federal Governments to continue to rest in peace. Buhari and his staff talking about Dora is like the the devil talking about an angel. They are not fit to mention her name or to lick the bottom of her shoes. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=10155657427232210&id=62188827209 http://www.naijanewspapers.com.ng/2017/08/buhari-treating-undisclosed-and.html |

The office of the Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi has dismissed rumours making the rounds of a marital crisis between her and Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. This was made known in a statement issued by Abraham Adedeji, Olori Wuraola’s Press Secretary on Tuesday. . It reads: It has come to the attention of our office – the slanderous rumors and sensationalist distortions about Her Majesty, Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi through unnamed and unseen sources. The sources are also citing deplorable claims involving Her Majesty Wuraola and that of prominent businessmen in Nigeria, all of whom are good friends of the King and Queen & financial contributors to projects that have advanced our good work in the communities of Ife and Nigeria as a whole. We are deeply disturbed by these rumors and there is absolutely no truth to these absurd claims of infidelity and we vehemently deny them. Due to the nature of the allegations and the attempt to defame the character of the Queen and embarrass well respected friends of our Palace, we have immediately employed legal counsel to investigate their origin to take necessary action against the perpetrators. Please be advised, that in this digital age, digital footprints can lead to your identification. We stand firmly together, in our commitment to our peace and the truth." North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is rushing to develop nuclear missiles that can reach the United States, saying they are needed to deter an attack on his country. If there are ever any talks with the Trump administration to defuse an increasingly dangerous crisis, here are five of Kim's demands — though he shouldn't count on getting them all met. Guarantees of no overthrow by U.S. Before President Trump unleashed his incendiary attacks on Kim this week, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the administration does not favor a regime change and seeks a diplomatic solution to halt the North's weapons program. Kim looks at states like Iraq, where former dictator Saddam Hussein was overthrown by the United States, and believes that the only way for his country to ensure that his regime remains in power is through nuclear ambitions. Developing nuclear weapons that threaten the United States is Kim's insurance policy against being overthrown by a U.S.-led coalition, Joo Seong-ha, a defector who was imprisoned in North Korea before escaping to South Korea, told USA TODAY. A nuclear weapons program is “the most powerful bargaining chip that North Korea has,” said Joo. Keep nuclear weapons The Washington Post, citing a confidential Defense Intelligence Agency report, said this week that North Korea has produced a miniaturized nuclear warhead that can fit inside its missiles. The warhead breakthrough is considered a crucial advancement on the path to producing a nuclear weapon capable of striking the U.S. mainland, experts said. In addition to its nuclear arsenal, the nation has rockets and artillery aimed at Seoul, the South Korean capital that is only 35 miles from the Demilitarized Zone separating the two countries. North Korea has launched more than a dozen test missiles this year. North Korea has said many times it has no intention of giving up its nuclear weapons. The U.S. has not accepted the North as a nuclear power but it might have to accept that reality in light of Kim's rapid technological advances and stockpile of nuclear armaments. Lift sanctions Since North Korea's first nuclear test in 2006, the United Nations has imposed ever-tightening sanctions on the rogue regime to force it to halt its weapons programs. The latest sanctions, approved unanimously by the United Nations Security Council on Aug. 5, ban North Korean exports of coal, iron, iron ore, lead, lead ore and seafood, which are worth about $1 billion or a third of the country's foreign revenue. North Korea accused the U.S. of "trying to drive the situation of the Korean Peninsula to the brink of nuclear war" after the latest sanctions were adopted. Kim has managed to modernize his nation and improve its economy despite nine years of sanctions, but would like relief to make faster progress. That won't happen without major concessions, such as freezing his weapons programs in place and abandoning more tests. Remove U.S. troops from South Korea The border between North Korea and South Korea is one of the most militarized in the world, according to the State Department. Pyongyang has about 1.2 million military personnel compared with 680,000 troops in South Korea, where 28,000 U.S. troops also are stationed. Nearly 6 million North Koreans are reservists in the worker/peasant guard, compulsory to the age of 60. China, which has long feared a unified Korea allied with the U.S., also wants the American troops removed. That won't happen unless it is part of a much broader peace deal that includes major concessions by China and North Korea to demilitarize the peninsula. Negotiate formal end to Korean War The U.S. and North Korea have no diplomatic ties and are still enemies, having only reached an armistice — not a peace treaty — to end the 1950-1953 Korean War. The perpetual state of hostility — as well as the brutal dictatorship of three generations of the same family — has left North Korea isolated and impoverished. The Central Intelligence Agency ranks North Korea the 213th poorest country in the world out of the 230 it tracks in its CIA World Factbook. A formal peace treaty would provide a huge economic and political boost for Kim, but he would have to mothball his nuclear ambitions — and so far, he has shown no sign of wanting to do that. My love for my culture didn’t just start now, it has been in me for years. My rich Yoruba culture gives me a good sense of belonging, reminds me of how great we were, how civilized we were, how morally upright we were and how we practiced a well-balanced system of government we now call democracy, before colonization. My culture definitely gives me that pride I searched whole heartedly in Nigeria but all I found from my searches are: the culture of corruption, the culture of tribalism, the culture of religious conflict, the culture of two cultures – the rich and poor, the culture of poverty, the culture of injustice, the culture of negligence, the culture of indigenous culture degradation, the culture of embezzlement and so on. One’s culture exaltation is not synonymous to aversion toward other cultures. It’s also not synonymous to secession nor is it synonymous to tribalism as some would have been thinking. It’s a way of appreciating what we’ve got. Our culture reminds us of who we were, who we are and where we need to be. It’s a path to rediscovery. If we really want the survival of this country and her people, we need to let our cultures thrive, we need to exude our cultures, we need to teach our children our languages, but the suppression of indigenous cultures in Nigeria will be the beginning of disintegration of Nigeria and we shall one day say, “There was a country called Nigeria”. I love the diversity in this country. If only we could appreciate the beauty of what we’ve got, Nigeria would be great. It’s no more a news that our present system of government is not working. We need a new a system. A well-structured system. Proper restructuring of the system is what we need right now. The centre is inundated with so much responsibilities that no matter how good your intention is for Nigeria, you can barely achieve more than your predecessors. Nigeria needs to be restructured! http://www.naijanewspapers.com.ng/2017/08/see-main-reasons-why-nigeria-needs-to.html |

Former president, Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to report that his administration alongside that of Olusegun Obasanjo and Umaru Musa Yar’Adua wasted money from the power sector. In a statement signed by Reno Omokri on Thursday, August 10 and shared by the former president on his official Facebook page, Jonathan said while he cannot speak for his predecessors, he can provide his own angle. In the statement, it was argued that Jonathan could not have wasted such money but instead saved the country more money from the privatisation. Read the statement below: My attention has been drawn to the story 'Obasanjo, Yar’Adua, Jonathan wasted N11tn on electricity –SERAP' published most prominently in The Punch newspapers on August 10, 2017 and less prominently in other papers. While I cannot speak for others, I can certainly say that as touching former President Goodluck Jonathan, the story is false and is the fruit of the laziness of the researchers who could have taken advantage of the Freedom of Information Act that Dr. Jonathan signed into law in May, 2011 to get records and data from relevant government ministries, departments and agencies that would have given them a fuller picture instead of the narrow view they have. Former President Jonathan could not have wasted ₦11 trillion or any other amounts of money for the simple reason that he was the Nigerian President who privatized the Power Sector beginning on August 26, 2010 when he launched the roadmap to power sector reforms and culminating on October 16, 2012 when the winning bids were announced for the sale of power generating and distributing companies. SERAP may do well to remember that on Monday the 30th of September 2013, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Former President Jonathan successfully handed over the bulk of Nigeria's Power Infrastructure to successful private sector bidders after they had made payments for the assets they acquired. At that event, he said "I congratulate our new owners who have taken over the engines and cables that are expected to drive not just the electricity industry but also the socio-economic well-being of the nation". In total, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria was split into six generation and 11 distribution firms, all sold separately, for about $2.5 billion for which the Jonathan administration received much deserved praise. In fact, rather than wasting money, the Jonathan administration generated money for the federation from the sale of these assets which were seen to be transparent and followed global best practices. Between May 6th 2010 when he was first sworn in as President to May 29, 2015 when he handed over power, the budget for the ministry of power under Dr. Jonathan was not up to ₦400 billion in total for the simple reason that his administration had succeeded in transferring most of Nigeria's power assets, liabilities and personnel from the public sector to the private sector. As such, it is evidently clear that any allegations that the Jonathan government wasted trillions is not a well thought out allegation at best and is a figment of the imagination of the makers at worse. I do hope those papers which published this false report against the person of former President Jonathan and the administration that he led will be honorable enough to set the records straight for posterity.
