Any physical contact with a person of the opposite gender is forbidden under Islam. This is a strict prohibition in Islam but with some exceptions. The exceptions are as follows– 1. A person’s spouse. 2. A person’s ancestors, including father, mother, and grandparents from both sides. 3. A person’s descendants, including their children and grandchildren. 4. A person’s siblings, including brothers and sisters, half-brothers and half-sisters. 5. The children of the person’s siblings and their descendants, i.e., their nephews and nieces by blood, and any children that those nephews and nieces have. 6. The siblings of the person’s father or mother, i.e, their maternal and paternal uncles and aunts (not including uncles and aunts by marriage). 7. The ancestors of the spouse, including their parents and grandparents. 8. The descendants of the spouse, including their children and grandchildren. from other marriages (in the case of the daughters and granddaughters of the wife, the marriage must be consummated). 9. Ties of breastfeeding. For example, if a person’s aunt used to breast feed them as well as their mother, their aunt becomes like a second mother, and all of her sons become like brothers, and her daughters like sisters etc. Physical contact with anyone from the opposite gender not mentioned above is strictly prohibited. So, a man would shake his sister’s hand, his aunt’s hand, his niece’s hand, and so on; however, he would not shake his female cousin’s hand, or his uncle’s wife’s hand, or the hand of a female acquaintance, classmate, or work colleague. |
missmalachi:Please take precaution before posting on forums as there are people who will rely heavily on your post. Payment of bride price is sine qua non for a valid marriage under native law and custom. |
Kingbilo:My dear the law need not make sense. I just stated the law, its up to the op and other readers to seek legal advise if they are in doubt. The law is clear in this area, payment of bride price is prerequisite for a valid marriage under native law and custom in Nigeria. Let me depart a bit and like I always advise clients, there are lots of marriages in Nigeria that will fail this test and I believe they may be invalid. The implication of this is better imagined than to be experience. The validity of a marriage extends to inheritance of properties after the death of a partner. If a marriage is decleared invalid, the surviving partner gets nothing. So there's the need to follow the custom stricto sensu. All customs in Nigeria require the payment of bride price and it must be paid for there to be a valid marriage under native law and custom. This custom has not changed overtime and just in case it has, there is no judicial notice of this as being of acceptable usage. |
Make sure you pay the dowry/bride price because that is what makes your union legal under Nigerian customary law. Do not do without the bride price. Also the bride price consideration should be monetary so it can be returned to the family if you no longer want to continue in the marriage. This is the only way to end a marriage under native law and custom. |
onatisi:I concur, peaceful negotiation is the key. I believe GMB is bright enough to know this and not what I've been reading here from his supporters who are still in the spirit of election |
oyeludef:I bet you this your chat is not correct, even the iocs will not accept this. Where are your sources? |
lygn19:I'm sorry to say this, but to those militants, these are mere academics. They can't comprehend these. Have you negotiated with these communities previously? The Nigerian Army and law enforcement agencies are they not the same JTF or will GMB bring in the Marines? |
sebali:So count the losses and gains and tell me who gains? The faceless boys who have nothing to lose or GMB who has been saddled with lots of burdens and responsibilities that he can't even discharge 5% of. For the boys in the creeks, one dynamite on the NCTL is sufficient, for instance, to stop production on OMLs 18,24,25,29 & Chevron's facilities, why? Because all these assets pumps their production into the NCTL which delivers crude at Bonny Terminal. Even the IOCs are not sure of what the future holds for them. So before you post think, before you think research and in researching visit the creeks so you can comprehend that the area is a delta (please check the meaning) and not Ikeja, Aba or Lafia. |
royal231:I've come to realise that the opposite of the ideal is what actually happens in Nigeria. There's no single infrastructure in Lagos, yet you want to still add more burden on the system I spend not less than 6hrs in traffic everyday in Lagos. If I spend the next 10 years in Lagos, all things being equal, I would be spending 2years and 6months in traffic. |

SOS HELP! Please help, MTN cell broadcast service voraciously eating up the battery on my HTC M9. Please help. Any advise will be appreciated. Please see pictures for details. What I have done so far 1. Disable Cell Broadcast Service via Call Setting, Cell Broadcast and deleting the channels and disable Cell Broadcast. 2. Called MTN 180 Call Centre to assist in disabling the services. The guys whom I spoke with said it's a network issue and that i should be patient. Guess what? I have waited for over two weeks and nothing seems to be working, no solution. 3. I took the phone and the SIM card to MTN care office around my area at Ikota Complex and at Abraham Adesanya, yes two different locations and after manipulating my phone for several hours (without my consent), no solution. 4. I have not installed any update lately so software update is ruled out since I used the same phone for over a month before the MTN Cell Broadcast started showing up its ugly face. 5. I also Googled on how to turn off this service permanently and tried every advise on the first two pages of Google returned results but to no avail. Anytime I disable it, it pops up again after few kilometres. Why am I worried about this? 1. The MTN Cell Braodcast Service has become both a major PITA and a distraction to me in terms of work and pleasure because I move around the island and mainland frequently for meetings each day. I get several SMSs within every couple of minutes. Please see pictures. 2. The MTN Cell Braodcast Service is eating up my battery as I hardly enjoin a half day charge on a device that promised 36hrs endurance time. Device HTC One M9 Sense 7.0, Android 5.0.1 Lollipop Please Help!

If any part of Nigeria is desirous of enforcing its rights to self determination, the only thing a sincere govt has to do is conduct a referendum within that part of the country. Self determination is a right if under the UN Charter. After a simple Google search I found this - In 1941 Allies of World War II signed the Atlantic Charter and accepted the principle of self-determination. In January 1942 twenty-six states signed the Declaration by United Nations , which accepted those principles. The ratification of the United Nations Charter in 1945 at the end of World War II placed the right of self-determination into the framework of international law and diplomacy. Chapter 1, Article 1, part 2 states that purpose of the UN Charter is: "To develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples, and to take other appropriate measures to strengthen universal peace. " Article 1 in both the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR) reads: "All peoples have the right of self-determination. By virtue of that right they freely determine their political status and freely pursue their economic, social and cultural development. " The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights article 15 states that everyone has the right to a nationality and that no one should be arbitrarily deprived of a nationality or denied the right to change nationality. So why are you still wasting data, fighting and killing yourselves here? The black man really has a big problem, what is wrong to want to secede? |

Pls is 25 April shipment ready for collection? |
mrmetoo1:very well then, I've got to read the whole doc when I get to the office |

Thanks for the quote. Well, PwC are not experts in valuation of oil and gas assets and the valuation is usually and largely based on the hgdrocarbon reserves in the asset be it gas or oil. From my few days in the industry, it iwill be very unprofessional for PwC to just quote a value without stating the capability of the assets like the daily production (number of barrels/day), the reserves (xxm mb/d and the mscf of gas ) avaialable, the number of wells on each field and their capacity, etc. Pls note that I'm not saying there's or no fraud in the transactions. |
From the first draft to the last draft, the PIB has about five versions now. Which of the versions are you referring to and what do you think was the reason why the majority of the legislative houses have been amending it and refuse to pass it into law? |
