archcharles:Ask those in the oil and gas industry, they will tell you that Kachikwu is even more corrupt than the past Petroleum Minister. I have about 3 transactions we are working on where himself and his previous employer ExxonMobil have perpetuated fraudulent practices. Another wrong choice to head NNPC. |
danvault:You're damn right, replicas everywherre |
Yeah Craven, true talk. Favparis is actually trying to sell her phone on another thread, so I believe she understands ![]() |
Craven:Thank you Craven for the user perspective. Most of these OEM don't even know about the security issues and because we have a very bad regulatory body in this part of the world, everything comes in as a dumping ground to feed the people who are yearning for cheap phones. The truth is that they are ripoffs not just cheap because Xaomi manufactures at similar pricing but with good built quality and better hardware. Another funny thing is that non of these OEM like the names you mentioned has thought of partnering with Google on its Android One project. |
Favparis:Please I'm not the guy chasing you with cutlass in your nightmare last night. Off course all hardware including Samsung are manufactured in China and other MEA countries. I don't agree with you that the difference is Samsung having only a brand name, it goes beyond that my dear and I don't think you know much about this area. To hold your views will be very myopic and shortsightedness. Before s6, Samsung devices uses Qualcomm system on a chip (SoC, in simple language, processor, CPU) and not Mediatek, the processors you find in other Chinese brands. The Qualcomm brand is known as the king in Android parlance in the area of efficiency, you can google that for better understanding. In addition to the SoC, the graphic processing unit (GPU) you find in Qualcomm processors is the Adreno brand not the Mali GPU. You can Google the performance of these GPUs and report what you find. There are other hardware issues that I may want to elaborate on but time will not permit. Like the very weak modem attached to the Mediatek SoC, Foxconn built quality of the premium device against these Chinese phones, etc. Also note that, no Google device from the time of HTC Dream 1 to the Nexus 6 has used a SoC other than Qualcomm, why is this so? The importance of the above hardware config is performance of the OS and apps which are the primary reasons we use smartphones. Just yesterday I was playing with my colleagues Infinix Note pro and I realised that I couldn't multitask and the network signal on my phone was just 2 bars while my friend's phone keeps losing and regaining signal. Basically, I tried to use 3 apps - IG, Twitter and FB moving from one to the other after every 3 minutes and I discovered that the apps keep restarting each time I switch instead of taking me back to the state I was when I last used that particular app. For the records, I'm using an HTC 2013 flagship. Another area is the OS and open sourcing firmware codes. Android is an opensource platform, Qualcomm releases its SoC codes for developers to work with but Mediatek does not and that's why you can't find roms and custom roms for all these Chinese phones. Last for now is the issue of software security update. Almost all of us now transact via mobile platforms. How would you feel when you're informed that somebody was in the middle between your smartphone and your bank phishing your card details. Those guys do it everyday and sell those info, there's a market for it online. The issue is that Mediatek hardly comply and most of the unknown to small name brands don't offer those security update services. But Sony, HTC and other known brands issue small updates almost immediately to protect the users including platform update like moving from Kitkat to Lollipop. Questions for you, I have a 2013 flagship device from HTC and I have the latest Android update 5.1 lollipop. Can you point me to any 2013 device from these Chinese phone makers that has similar update? Why can't these companies use the Qualcomm SoC? I'd love to read your views. |
oserz:ALWAYS REFERENCE YOUR SOURCE OGA Thank you ![]() Guys, here's the source - http://www.techworm.net/2015/03/10-amazing-facts-you-didnt-know-about-android.html |
DGenerale:Search for middle man exploit on Android and other security flaw. Those OEM hardly update their devices which exposes them security flaws. |
Please house on a lighter mode, tell me who to follow, the OS that teaches me how to count numbers like 1, 2, 3 95, 98...NT, 2000, XP, Vista, then 7, 8, 10. Or the OS that teaches me how to read the alphabets like this - Astro Boy, Bender, Cup Cake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honey Comb, Ice Scream Sandwich, Jelly Beans, Kit-Kat, Lollipop, waiting for Android M labeling. Google always publish security holes in Windows OS that have been there for several years and MS didn't even know about it. |
Epistemology:Buy a premium device like HTC, Samsung, etc or something with at least 2GB ram don't settle for these Chinese phones everybody is carrying around for security reasons. |
OBJ should top that list. |
ylaa:no be small thing. |
buchilino:To start with, ask your governors in the south to conduct public opinion on the issue of self determination if the central govt isn't doing that? |
HTC uses the Peel / TV app |
toluxa1:Does it mean that this thread is a scam? |
Pricelezz:Can the NPF sustain and maintain a conviction on that defective charge against this devil What a nation. |
Ogborokiri:I have one Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, 15.6inches, DVD, BT. But the battery is bad and no adapter for N25k only. |

Yeye old man |
Hmm |
anthochie:Please would your answer be different if one has a 3.6 cgpa. A friend is presently searching for top law schools and the results are unfavourable. |
M4gunners:Agreed, but it's not a check at all on the present crop of politicians we have in Nigeria. |
M4gunners:True. Politicians don't loot with their names these days, they have trustees who hold the looted funds and properties in the person's name in such a way that it will be difficult to link the politicians to the assets. So, of what use is this asset declaration ish? |
ishiamu:You don't need to respond. Those are part of the people who feels it is only their opinion or point of view counts and other people's opinion doesn't. Most of them were paid to do just that. Let's wait, watch and see. |
One chance puppet government for the next four years. Neocolonialism, Nigerians are in for it. I didn't expect anything short of neocolonialism, after mining the wikileaks documents and observed the Western powers support for GMB. |
YemiAde3:Not GEJ, Fed Executive Council. Didn't read the OP? Hia |
This made front page Nonsense |
It is called public interest litigation. Thumbs up to Ebun. In the eye of the law, it need not be significant before you can sue. He's only saying he can ask the court for a declaration that GMB cannot decree Nigerians to stop calling him a general when in fact he has been (and still) obtains benefit from such capacity that christened him General. It is a very common practice in other democracies. |
MrScript:Happy birthday MrScript but next time start your own thread. I will forgive you today because it's your birthday |
