Politics › Mayday! Mayday!! "EFCC Is Broke"-Cant Pay Salaries by Clerverly(op): 11:22pm On Dec 16, 2013*. Modified: 11:00am On Dec 17, 2013 |
ABUJA— THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is broke, cannot pay salaries of staff and services of prosecutors to carry out operational functions, its Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Aremu, has said.
Aremu disclosed this Monday, at a public hearing on A Bill for An Act to Establish the Nigeria Financial Intelligence Agency, NFIA, 2013, organised by the Senate Committee on Drugs, Narcotics and Economic Crimes.
He said the financial challenges facing the activities of the anti–graft agency was as a result of what he called non-remittance of appropria-ted funds for the agency by the Federal Government over the months.
The EFCC Secretary said: “I could recollect when the committee paid us an oversight function visit.
EFCC5
“We did make our financial position known to the committee that EFCC does not have N2 million in its accounts.
“We have been complaining that no money has been released for us for operations.
“If we can afford to pay salary this month, that is all. That is the position under which we operate presently.”
He opposed the intention of the Bill in making Financial Intelligence Unit, FIU, currently a department in EFCC, an independent Intelligence Unit on its own, insisting that “FIU, in most climes of the world, is run as a secret operational centre at the background of a major body like EFCC as it is presently in Nigeria.
”FIU as intended by the Bill should not be expo-sed to the public as a separate body on its own. “It should be kept at the background as it is in most climes of the world.”
However, the Central Bank of Nigeria, National Intelligence Agency and National Agency for Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, all rose in support of the proposed bill. - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/12/efcc-broke/#sthash.rI05FqI8.dpuf

Obiagu1: That is the way of Yoruba people. They live in fairytales.
Their leaders know they are the most gullible people in this whole world. What is takes is tell lies and you are on your way to greatness in Yoruba land.
That's why a 'N1 billion/km' governor, Fashola, is the best in the world! That's why a thief, Tinubu, is now a king.
Fortunately, Nigerians are not as gullible as Yorubas and are not buying their lies.
In 2015, they will know we aren't buying their lies. Nigerians are more intelligent than them. Which Nigerians? Deluded soul! Retardeen is a goner in 2015. You can Go and die |

Imagine that a young Nigerian blogger like Linda Ikeji's blog is in the top ten most visited sites in Nigeria and a site that boasts that they are ground breaking are not even in the top 30. Why the huge drop in visitor traffic? You see, no matter how far and fast falsehood travels, it must eventually be overtaken by truth. Going by this your assertion , why do you then bother/cry over their " lies" At least according to you Nigerians don't visit nor read articles on their website Idio.tus in power. |

godello: “When you have God behind you, there is no one else. We have been hearing ‘we will remove him, we will remove him’. Have I been removed? They said they will remove us on the 11. Eleven is Monday. I will dance. The second reason I danced at Okrika is that they said they will stone me at Okrika. I went and it didn’t happen.”
“Most of the people on the other side are corrupt. They are thieves. They get contracts from the NNDC and the Niger Delta ministry and then go ahead to use the money to build hotels. One of them got 17 billion contract to build a road from Eleme to Imo Rivers. Is there a road there? They have served and are now hungry.
“They are so desperate that they have gone to hire Commissioner Mbu as the military wing of the PDP. One thing you should know is that the police will come after you. The only way to stop them is the people’s power. When you hear of impunity, It’s because you allow it. When you hear that Amaechi is courageous, it’s because I take risk. You must come out when we ask you to do so. There is no revolution without blood. The only revolution without blood is reform.
“Anyday they are ready for a debate, I’m ready. I call them thieves, let them reply me.
“To our APC guests, I like to say we are a group of seven governors. In that group, I’m perculiar because the president is from our zone. So regarding your invitation, I will consult our leaders, I will consult my party, I will consult even the president. He is from our zone. I will consult all the consultables!
“But the day we will take a decision, it will be at that our new stadium. It has the capacity to take 40,000 people. Tinubu, and the president (refers to #Buhari ) will address 40,000 people. So we need to go out and continue to grow our number.
“They have money, they have the police, they have the army. The only thing we have is our people.
CHANNELS TV I love this phrase. Buhari will be sworn in 29th May 2015. *Warning* I am not gonna take trash, so don't quote me here, just contribute and move on. |

Politics › Odua: Bmw Scam: Efcc Interrogates Coscharis Md; First Bank Officials In Abuja | by Clerverly(op): 1:58pm On Nov 05, 2013 |
Weeks after news of a fraudulent car scam broke in Nigeria’s Ministry of Aviation, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday stepped into the matter by interrogating in its Abuja offices, Josiah Samuel, the Managing Director of Coscharis Motors Limited, a supplier of the two BMW armored cars at the center of purchase scam linked to the minister of aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah.
There was no word as to whether the agency also interviewed the Minister. The agency has in addition quietly quizzed some First Bank officials believed to have aided the scam. The EFCC has been roundly criticized by Nigerians for failure to live up to the law since the scandal broke. One of Nigeria’s most popular newspapers, The PUNCH also revealed last week that officials at the EFCC are too afraid to act because of the body language of President Goodluck Jonathan, who appears hell-bent on covering up the scam. SaharaReporters sources said that the MD was interrogated for several hours by agents of the EFCC and then let go around 4:00 PM Nigerian time yesterday, today he returned for further questioning. The chairman of the auto dealership, Cosmos Maduka, is also expected to be grilled by the EFCC over new revelations that he defrauded the federal government during Nigeria’s 50th Independence Anniversary in 2010. During a public hearing of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation, Mr. Maduka made startling revelations. He stated that he was told to inflate the cost of the cars as he tried to obtain an “End User Certificate” from the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA). Maduka also revealed that he paid no duties on the cars as he used a duty waiver granted the Lagos State government to import three BMW armored cars. The Lagos State government and the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala who issued the waiver, have vehemently denied that the waivers covered bullet-proof cars. The Finance Minister appeared before the house committee yesterday to reinforce her denial. Staffers of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have also reiterated to SaharaReporters that while the cars were paid for in full through a loan secured from First Bank of Nigeria PLC, Mr. Maduka and Mrs Oduah, for whom the cars were purchased, never delivered the cars physically to the NCAA. This is particularly important because according to them, the Acting MD of NCAA, Joyce Nkemakolam, had forced junior officers of the agency to sign paperwork claiming they had seen and inspected the cars as of last August. Last week, Tuesday, however, two cars mysteriously appeared at the Abuja airport to be inspected by House committee members, but the members were shocked to find out that the chassis number on the cars presented to them were totally different from the ones Coscharis claimed it sold to the cash strapped agency. When the cars were later driven to the premises of the NCAA, senior officials there quickly had them covered with tarpaulin to avoid further scrutiny. A staff source said when they were asked to check the cars out they found out they had been in use for long, with one of them filled with cigarette butts. EFCC interrogators today said they were looking forward to filing charges against the auto dealer for economic crimes relating to money laundering, abuse of waivers and forgery of federal government documents. Curiously, EFCC officials did not officially state why the Minister at the centre of the scam and many officials who helped perpetrate the scam has not been invited for interrogation. http://saharareporters.com/news-page/bmw-scam-efcc-interrogates-coscharis-md-first-bank-officials-abuja |
